70: Chapter 70 Crisis! The Golden FigureThe dense forest on the outskirts of Jianghai City.

The sun hung high in the sky; it had been twelve hours since the Assault Company’s battle.

At this moment, fewer than twenty soldiers remained of the hundred-man Assault Company.

However, as long as they had not made it out of this hundred-mile mountain forest, they remained in the midst of the crisis of the lion pride’s pursuit.

After determining their escape direction, Reporter Wang Xiaoli’s four-person team set off immediately, not daring to linger as they rushed deeper into the forest.

Since the wild beasts in this forest had either been subjugated by the lion pride or had fled out of fear, very few large beasts remained.

Consequently, they were not attacked along the way.

”Stop!”

While moving forward, Reporter Wang Xiaoli, who was being protected in the middle by Soldier Da Niu and Er Hu, suddenly shouted!

”What’s wrong?”

Da Niu, who was leading the way, asked in confusion.

Wang Xiaoli was trembling all over, her face pale; the familiar sensation that suddenly washed over her body was all too familiar!

She cried out!

”A fierce beast is approaching!”

”What?!”

The other three were startled!

The two soldiers at the front and back of the team immediately raised their guns, scanning the surroundings with alert eyes, ready for combat at any moment.

But after a few minutes, there was only the faint sound of the mountain wind and the sound of everyone’s breathing; nothing happened.

“Phew... Sister Wang, stop joking, you’re scaring me to death.”

“Let’s rest for a bit, this is too exhausting...”

Cameraman Xiao Li relaxed. The continuous flight along the way, combined with the high physical load and immense psychological pressure, had left him exhausted.

Happening to see a lush tree nearby, he walked over and leaned his back against it, which gave him a tiny sense of security.

The other three did not let down their guard because the two soldiers had been following Wang Xiaoli and understood that this female reporter had a keen intuition for beast-related crises.

Furthermore, they also felt that the environment was off; previously, they felt as if eyes were watching them from the shadows, but that feeling was gone here.

When things are abnormal, there must be something wrong!

This feeling made both of them very uneasy.

”Come over here quickly! Xiao Li, there really might be a problem!”

Wang Xiaoli’s face was pale as she shouted urgently to Xiao Li, who was resting under the tree!

Her intuition was still sending her danger signals!

Xiao Li looked indifferent. He scanned the surroundings; the terrain was very open, with no obstacles like shrubs or weeds, which meant it was impossible for a beast to ambush them here.

“Sister Wang, don’t overthink it. How could there be danger here... unless those lions can fly, otherwise...”

“Eh... it seems to be raining...”

Before he could finish, wet droplets landed on his face. He reached up to touch them.

“Hiss... so sticky, and it stinks.”

He suddenly looked up and saw a big cat crouching on a thick branch of the tree, looking down at him.

“Roar...”

A low growl sounded like a car engine!

Locked on by a pair of green pupils, he was completely unable to react!

“Roar!”

With an aggressive roar, the long-lurking lioness pounced down from the tree!

“Ah!”

Cameraman Xiao Li was pinned to the ground before he could react. By the time he did, his body had lost control; he was dragged away into the distance by the three-meter-long lioness, powerless to resist.

Only the camera remained on the spot!

”Dammit!”

Soldier Da Niu and Er Hu did not fire, because facts had proven that bullets from their firearms could not cause fatal damage to these lionesses.

The lioness was too fast, completing the ambush in just a few seconds!

She gave them no opportunity to aim at vital areas like the head or eyes.

With a pale face, Wang Xiaoli watched the receding back of the lioness with a racing heart and picked up the camera from the ground.

She took a few deep breaths.

“Let’s leave here quickly. I feel like the lion pride will be coming to hunt us soon!”

“Alright!”

...

In fact, Wang Xiaoli’s intuition was correct.

An hour later.

After finishing her meal, the lioness called over another nearby companion and began tracking the group’s trail.

When the lionesses reached a certain part of the forest, they stopped in their tracks, their brown pupils looking forward with some fear.

Because they knew the forest ahead was the territory of a terrifying animal; otherwise, the lion pride would have ventured deeper into the mountains long ago under the leadership of the Male Lion.

“Roar...”

After considering for a moment, the desire to feed on the two-legged beasts and become stronger overcame their fear.

The two lionesses continued to advance rapidly.

Moving ahead, Wang Xiaoli and the other two felt the unusual commotion of birds being startled in the forest behind them; an intimidating aura was rapidly approaching them.

“It seems the lionesses aren’t far from us. For them to give up on stealthy ambushes and adopt such a blatant hunting method, it seems this must be the territory of the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle!”

“Our guess was right, the lion pride fears the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle! But we underestimated the pride’s craving for human flesh!”

Wang Xiaoli’s delicate face froze as she felt that predatory aura rapidly closing in.

“What do we do...”

Soldier Da Niu did not hesitate. “Reporter comrade, hurry and keep moving forward. You must be careful of the animals in this forest. We’ll hold off these lionesses for you!”

“But...”

Seeing the resolute expressions on the faces of Soldiers Da Niu and Er Hu, Wang Xiaoli said nothing more, her face darkening.

“I don’t think there’s any point in running. These lionesses clearly won’t let us go. In a moment, please shoot me dead, brothers...”

“I don’t want to watch these beasts eat my flesh with my own eyes.”

Soldier Er Hu was silent for a moment. “Alright then...”

“Roar!!!”

A few minutes later, two robust lionesses came charging from the distance!

The appearance of two lionesses took the three by surprise, but the two soldiers did not wait for death; they raised their rifles and fired at the lionesses’ heads!

“Die! You beasts!”

“Roar!”

Ignoring the wounds opening on their surfaces, the two lionesses pounced straight toward the three people’s position!

This part of the forest made them very uneasy, so they wanted to kill and devour the three two-legged beasts in the shortest time possible!

Da-da-da!

Bullets erupted into bloody flowers on the two lions, but the lionesses’ reactions were fast, and they dodged the bullets flying toward their vital head regions!

The lionesses were incredibly fast! In the blink of an eye, they had already charged within ten meters of the trio!

A trace of cruelty and a predatory light flashed in their brown pupils!

“It’s over...”

Just as the three were in despair!

Boom!

Boom!

Two explosive sounds!

The figures of the two lionesses were blasted in opposite directions, slamming heavily onto the ground over ten meters away!

The trio looked over; the lionesses’ heads had split open into a mass of tofu-like pulp! Their bodies lay silently on the ground, without a single movement.

At the same time, a Golden Figure over three meters tall, holding a long staff, appeared in their field of vision...
