Spiritual Energy Revival: Transform Into a Divine Phoenix, Automatically Upgrade

61: Chapter 61 Humans at the Top of the Food Chain Become PreyThe conference room fell silent.

”If what Mayor Lin said is true... that animals can devour humans to evolve, then it is truly a catastrophe for humanity!”

”Yes...”

Being in management for a city, their intelligence was obviously up to par.

If animals were truly evolving rapidly by devouring humans, then the future enemies of humanity would be all the animals on Blue Star!

Although humanity’s current technological power was sufficient to face all animals, even if they wiped out these creatures, they—humanity—would be standing alone and courting their own destruction!

After all, human technology had not yet developed to the point of supporting humanity in choosing another planet for colonization.

And the ecological operation of Blue Star required the balance of millions of species on Blue Star; if a large number of species were missing, humanity would also perish rapidly...

This result was too terrifying, causing everyone in the conference room to feel as if a mountain was pressing down on their hearts, making it hard to breathe.

Mayor Lin sighed and comforted them.

”Rest assured, this is just my speculation from the video; the reason for the lion pride’s aberrant evolution has not yet been investigated clearly...”

”Mayor Lin... I have something to say!”

A research professor stood up, his face pale, ”A few days ago, we received a research topic sent by Longcheng, the capital. It is that we humans are actually capable of absorbing the spiritual energy in the air...”

”No, it cannot be called absorbing; it can only be considered storing spiritual energy!”

”What do you mean by that?!”

Mayor Lin’s expression was serious; he felt that something bad was about to happen.

The research professor took a deep breath and stated the results they had just researched.

”It has been over a month since spiritual energy appeared on Blue Star. According to our recent research, we humans have more or less some spiritual energy in our bodies. Unlike animals that can digest spiritual energy to strengthen their bodies, we can only passively store spiritual energy in our bodies...”

”The aberrant evolution of the lion pride, including that male lion, is very likely due to the spiritual energy in human bodies...”

As soon as this sentence came out, the faces of everyone in the conference room turned even paler.

Mayor Lin was silent for a while, then continued to ask.

”Then why have there been reports of animals attacking humans in other cities of the Great Xia Kingdom before, but the phenomenon of aberrant evolution like the lion pride did not appear?”

”It may be because the time since spiritual energy appeared was not long, and the spiritual energy contained in people’s bodies was relatively scarce. Moreover, the location of Yangguan Village is deep in the mountains, so the spiritual energy stored in the bodies of the people in Yangguan Village must be astonishing...”

Everyone in the conference room gradually understood what the research professor meant.

”Doesn’t that mean... in the eyes of this lion pride, we humans are the most delicious food?!”

The research professor nodded silently, ”If the speculation is correct, that is indeed the case...”

”Damn it! A bunch of beasts!”

”How could we humans be food for a bunch of livestock?!”

”Even if humanity is destined to perish, we will not give Blue Star to these beasts. We must wipe them out!”

The research professor’s words, combined with the hellish scene in the video of the elderly in Yangguan Village, made everyone in the conference room furious!

”Alright, quiet down...” After Mayor Lin said this, he organized his thoughts and issued instructions.

”First, send the video of what happened at Yangguan Village and the conclusion we just speculated to the Great Xia Kingdom’s Longcheng immediately, and tell all cities in the Great Xia Kingdom to be careful; there must absolutely not be a second Yangguan Village.”

”Finally... the most serious matter now is to eliminate that man-eating lion pride!”

”Understood!”

After the meeting reached a decision, the officials of Jianghai City came forward to calm the citizens who were panicked again due to the appearance of the lion pride, and issued a severe warning that they must absolutely not go to the outskirts of Jianghai City!

In fact, without the official warning, anyone with a normal brain would absolutely not run out of Jianghai City now.

Some timid people, frightened by the horrific situation in Yangguan Village, even ran away overnight by plane or car.

This time, the sensation caused by the lion pride among the citizens of Jianghai City was even far greater than that of the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle. After all, no matter how terrifying the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle was, it was not as cruel as the lion pride!

...

One day later.

Just as Jianghai City was in a state of panic and officials were preparing to deal with the lion pride.

On the summit of Divine Phoenix Mountain.

Ye Yang slowly moved his paws out of the cave inside the mountain. This cave was really too small; he was afraid that if he used too much force, he could make the cave explode...

A pair of golden eagle eyes looked at the Monkey King in front of him with some surprise, or more accurately, at the baby in the Monkey King’s hands.

The Monkey King, who was burly and over three meters tall, held a baby in his palms, which were tens of centimeters large.

The baby was pale at this moment, breathing weakly, and couldn’t even open his eyes. One look was enough to know that he was either sick or starving to death.

”Woo woo...”

Seeing his boss come out, the Monkey King immediately roared excitedly twice. His pale yellow monkey eyes looked anxiously at the baby in his palms, then looked pleadingly at Ye Yang.

There was no need to say it; Ye Yang could understand that he wanted him to find a way to save this baby.

Ye Yang’s golden pupils looked up and down at the anxious Monkey King in front of him.

How did he bring back a human cub after just one trip out...

He retracted his gaze and looked at the human baby in the Monkey King’s palms.

If it were an ordinary adult human, Ye Yang usually wouldn’t pay attention, because he knew that humans were fickle; no one knew what humans were thinking behind their backs.

However, for a baby who had no schemes and posed no threat to him, Ye Yang didn’t really care.

Carefully listening to the baby’s breathing, he soon noticed the problem.

If the baby were weak due to illness, combined with the Monkey King’s journey, he would have already died.

So it was only possible that a healthy baby had become like this due to hunger after the journey.

”Coo coo...”

(You give this baby... some milk will do... raise him like a normal monkey cub...)

The Monkey King’s yellow, furry monkey face froze. Hearing the voice that suddenly appeared in his mind, he looked around.

After a while, he confirmed it was the voice of the boss in front of him.

”Woo woo...”

He made a confused sound.

Ye Yang used the Telepathic Sensing skill again. After a few minutes, the Monkey King adapted and understood his meaning.

This made Ye Yang sigh in his heart; he was indeed a primate, his brain nerves and conscious cognition were far superior to Big Brown Bear Xiong Da and Giant Panda Xiong Er.

”Coo coo...”

(From now on, your name will be Wukong...)

”Woo woo!”

The Monkey King made an excited sound at Ye Yang. He didn’t know why, but he was very satisfied with this name.

Afterward, he carefully cradled the baby and walked down the mountain.

Ye Yang stared at the Monkey King’s departing back, feeling a bit dazed.

”This Monkey King Wukong doesn’t want to be a nanny, does he...”

”But that is a human baby...”

”Why is this Monkey King so lacking in common sense about babies? He wouldn’t be a virgin monkey, would he...”

Suddenly, Ye Yang thought of the Monkey King’s size; it seemed that no Golden Snub-nosed Monkey could withstand it...

He shook his head, casting away the distracting thoughts.

Ye Yang looked into the distance, his heart heavy.

The swaddling clothes of the baby brought back by the Monkey King had a very strong smell of blood, and also a scent of beasts.

He noticed that the direction from which the Monkey King returned was the direction from which the powerful aura fluctuations had come earlier.

Rays of light flashed in his golden pupils.

”It seems that the coming period of time may not be peaceful...”
