Spiritual Energy Revival: Transform Into a Divine Phoenix, Automatically Upgrade

68: Chapter 68 Crushing Defeat”Oh my god! I must be hallucinating! How can there be such a huge lion in this world!”

”How terrifying! It’s a monster! Modern assault rifle bullets can’t even pierce its skin! Is this Male Lion’s muscle and bone density made of steel?!”

”Even the White-Feathered Giant Eagle on Divine Phoenix Mountain wouldn’t be this powerful!”

”That’s not what’s important right now... The Assault Company is really in trouble this time!”

”Holy crap! They’re surrounded by a pride of lions!”

”Hurry and notify the Jianghai City officials! Send someone to rescue the Assault Company immediately!”

In fact, by the time the citizens of Jianghai City watching the screen realized something was wrong, the Jianghai City officials had already swung into action.

This was different from when the White-Feathered Giant Eagle on Divine Phoenix Mountain killed the people from the Blue Sky Military Industrial Group.

That hadn’t been an official operation; Blue Sky Military Industrial Group was just seeking a private vendetta. It was a private matter, and they were also pawns for Great Xia to test the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle.

This time was different; this was an official operation!

Millions of Jianghai City citizens, and even the eyes of all the higher-ups in Great Xia, were focused on this place!

Once the leaders of Jianghai City realized how formidable the golden Male Lion was, they instantly decided to deploy helicopter support!

If they had previously feared that using helicopters would provoke the Prehistoric White-Feathered Great Eagle, they now had no other choice!

Because the incident occurred deep in the mountain forests, ground support simply wouldn’t arrive in time, nor could they transport heavy-firepower equipment.

Even if support did arrive, it would just be more fodder for this terrifying Male Lion.

Therefore, they could only use helicopters equipped with heavy firepower for support!

”I hope they make it in time!!!”

...

On the outskirts of Jianghai City, in a corner of the mountain forest.

At this moment, the roar of firearms was incessant, accompanied by the painful screams of humans!

Although the power of rifle bullets could harm the lionesses, they couldn’t cause fatal damage in a short time. Moreover, under the influence of that monster Male Lion’s aura, many soldiers who had accurately aimed at the lionesses’ heads found their bullets veering off course.

One by one, soldiers were attacked by the lionesses, their bodies torn apart by sharp claws as blood splattered, staining the ground red.

That monstrous golden Male Lion was even more brutal. With a swing of its several-meter-long paws, any soldier who came into contact with its half-meter-long claws was either killed or maimed, before quickly ending up in the Male Lion’s massive maw.

The Captain Company Commander had originally wanted to retreat, but the appearance of several lionesses surrounding them disrupted his plans.

He looked with horror at the Male Lion’s towering figure not far away.

”Just what kind of monster is this...”

Now was not the time for awe. He turned around!

”Quick! Use the grenade launchers!”

Several soldiers snapped to their senses and immediately pulled out grenade launchers, loaded them, and fired them instantly toward the Male Lion!

The Male Lion, which was in the middle of devouring a soldier, suddenly tensed up.

Boom!

Immediately after, it was struck by the grenades, blown back over a dozen meters, and collapsed onto the ground...

”It worked! Is that monster dead?!”

A soldier shouted excitedly!

But in the next second, he was ruthlessly proven wrong as the Male Lion quickly pushed itself up and let out a roar.

It charged at him with the full speed of a heavy truck, swallowing him whole in a single bite.

The Captain Company Commander felt a chill in his heart.

However, the only silver lining now was that while the grenades couldn’t harm the Male Lion, they could kill the lionesses!

Two lionesses never expected these weak two-legged beasts to pose a threat. Struck by the grenades, their bodies exploded like fireworks, turning into a spray of blood and shredded meat that shot into the air before raining back down.

”Roar...”

Now, the surrounding lionesses let out panicked roars, the deaths of their companions making them retreat in fear.

”Quick! Scatter and retreat into the forest!”

The dozens of soldiers on the scene immediately rushed toward the woods behind them.

The Captain Company Commander could see that this pride of lions had an immense craving for their flesh!

If the team stayed together, they would surely be pursued by the Male Lion; by scattering, some might actually escape.

Furthermore, someone had to delay this Male Lion, or the team would surely suffer devastating losses.

”Roar!!!”

The massive golden Male Lion let out an angry roar!

Two lionesses from his pride had actually died, filling him with an extraordinary rage!

His reddened eyes looked as if they could drip blood as he lunged toward the two-legged beasts running away.

At such a slow speed, they were practically just food waiting to be consumed!

Hmm?

The Male Lion’s movements suddenly stopped; he actually saw the leader of those two-legged beasts running toward him.

A flash of surprise crossed his bloodshot eyes. What did this two-legged leader want? Was he coming to surrender and submit?

I won’t let these tempting two-legged beasts go...

”Uh...”

Having rushed in front of the giant Male Lion, the Captain Company Commander froze when he saw the lion stop in its tracks.

Only when he looked up did he realize just how massive this Male Lion was, and he saw the doubt, cruelty, and cunning reflected in its bloodshot eyes...

Such human-like eyes were something only a human should possess!

”Could this monster lion actually understand human speech?”

”Roar... Two-legged leader... Submit to me... Lead me to... the two-legged habitat... and you can live...”

The Captain Company Commander suddenly heard a low roar like muffled thunder, followed by a booming voice echoing in his mind.

Staring into those massive, bloodshot eyes, he knew this was the voice of that monster Male Lion!

”You... you monster can speak!”

Upon hearing this, the golden Male Lion did not answer; he merely curled his lip in disdain and looked down at him with contempt.

”A monster... monsters have truly appeared on Blue Star...”

”Unfortunately... there’s no time to pass this intel to the leaders...”

Feeling the increasingly powerful aura and killing intent on his body, he knew the Male Lion was about to devour him.

He wasn’t afraid; this was exactly his goal.

*Clink.*

He pulled a grenade from his vest and pulled the pin.

”Go to hell... you monster!”

Then his vision went dark as he was engulfed by the massive maw...

Boom!

A massive explosion rang out!

A wave of fire erupted within the Male Lion’s mouth, followed by billowing thick smoke...

”Roar!!!”

Following a vast, echoing scream, the Male Lion’s hill-like body crashed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust...

”Commander!!!”

”Damn it! I’m going to get revenge!”

”Don’t go back! That Male Lion wasn’t even afraid of grenades; there’s a good chance it’s not dead!”

”Go! Don’t let the Commander’s sacrifice be in vain!”

The Assault Company suppressed their grief and retreated rapidly toward the forest behind them.

...

On the other side, Reporter Wang Xiaoli and her team on the distant hillside also saw what was happening on the battlefield through the camera screen.

The Assault Company soldiers were crushed! They were fleeing...

Cameraman Xiao Li’s legs went weak. ”Sister Wang, it’s too dangerous here. Let’s get out of here too!”

”Yeah.”

Tears welled in Reporter Wang Xiaoli’s eyes; she hadn’t yet recovered from the scene of the Captain Company Commander’s sacrifice.

She nodded to the grief-stricken Dahu and Erniu beside her.

She started walking, taking the lead.

”Wait, Sister Wang, that’s not the direction of the evacuation road?!”

”I know... We’re going to Divine Phoenix Mountain!”

P.S.: Only updating two thousand words today. It’s raining heavily here in Jiangsu, and I got caught in the rain on my way to work. I have a bit of a fever...
