Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

184: Chapter 185 The word ”lose” doesn’t exist in my dictionary! The elevator doors on the top floor of Singularity Technology’s headquarters opened with a ”ding.” Wang Jingdong stepped out, followed by three young men in crisp suits. They carried heavy briefcases containing internal news about the ”Special Investigation Team” that he had just gathered from a friend at the Provincial Department. The door to the CEO’s office at the end of the hallway was slightly ajar, and Zhang Fan’s silhouette could be seen standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.

”Lawyer Wang, this is quite a lineup. Bringing three lawyers with you—are you trying to show off your ’legal dream team’?” Zhang Fan turned around and joked with a smile upon hearing the footsteps.

Previously, whether handling Zhou Yurou’s divorce or dealing with Blue Whale Games’ litigation, Wang Jingdong had been accustomed to working alone. It was rare for him to bring so many people this time.

Wang Jingdong laughed and patted the shoulder of a young man wearing glasses. ”What dream team? These three are juniors from the firm who just got their lawyer licenses. I brought them along to see the world and learn how to handle ’tough nut’ cases.”

He paused, his tone becoming more familiar. ”Besides, for your case, Zhang Fan, shouldn’t I bring a few more people to help organize the documents? From Zhou Yurou’s divorce to Blue Whale Games, which one wasn’t a hard-fought battle?”

These words reminded Zhang Fan of a few years ago when he was just a newcomer starting his business. During Zhou Yurou’s divorce, Tang Wanqing had recommended Wang Jingdong; later, in the Blue Whale Games matter, it was also Wang Jingdong who relied on a solid chain of evidence to help Singularity win the lawsuit.

Now, Singularity had become a leader in Jiangcheng’s tech circle, and Wang Jingdong’s law firm had become a top criminal defense team in the country. The two had long since evolved from ”client and lawyer” into trusted friends.

”Let’s talk inside.” Zhang Fan stepped aside to let them in, pointing to the documents spread out on the conference table. ”Li Yong’s medical records, the comparison with the forged records by Wang Tianhua, Xiaoya’s hush money transfer records, and the equity connection between Tianhua Group and Tianming’s subsidiary, Qiming Capital—they’re all here.”

Wang Jingdong walked to the table, picked up a forged medical record, and lightly traced the ”patient’s signature” with his finger. His brow gradually furrowed. ”This signature was traced. The ink depth is inconsistent; it’s clearly an imitation. And this ’Consultation Opinion from City First Hospital’—the edges of the official seal are blurry, and the serial number is wrong. It’s a fake at first glance.”

The young lawyer beside him picked up another document and added, ”Teacher Wang, we checked the public information from the Provincial Health Commission. The deputy head of this Special Investigation Team is a university classmate of Wang Tianhua. Ten years ago, he even helped Tianhua Pharmaceutical with a ’Special Drug Approval.’ There’s definitely a kickback involved here.”

”That’s where the problem lies.” Wang Jingdong put down the medical record, his tone grave. ”Wang Tianhua not only forged evidence but also used his connections to compromise the investigation team. What they want isn’t an ’investigation,’ but a ’conviction.’ They want to nail Li Yong with the crime of ’illegal medical practice’ to force him to hand over the formula. On the surface, this case is a medical dispute, but in reality, it’s a collusion between power and capital. It’s more difficult than I imagined.”

Zhang Fan walked to the conference table, picked up a freshly brewed cup of tea, and handed it to Wang Jingdong. His voice was cold yet firm. ”That’s why I need you to step in personally. Lawyer Wang, money is not an issue. You can use any resources from the Qidian Alliance—the Song family’s media, the Lu family’s connections, the Gu Corporation’s funds. I have only one requirement.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the documents on the table as he spoke word by word. ”Not only must Divine Doctor Li come out of the investigation team untainted, but Wang Tianhua, his legal team, and the lawyer who helped him forge evidence must also be ruined and never be able to stage a comeback. I want everyone to know that even with power and capital backing them, framing an innocent person comes with a price.”

Wang Jingdong’s hand holding the teacup paused, and he looked up at Zhang Fan. He had known Zhang Fan for many years and had watched him transform from an ordinary entrepreneur into a tech tycoon capable of mobilizing hundreds of billions in resources. Yet, he had never seen him change—loyal to his friends and ruthless toward his enemies, especially when it came to ”protecting his own.”

Li Yong was just a folk doctor who had only recently started working with him, yet Zhang Fan was willing to use all his resources to stand up for him. This quality of ”not forgetting one’s roots despite wealth” earned him a bit more respect in Wang Jingdong’s heart.

”Good!” Wang Jingdong set down his teacup, a flash of excitement for the coming battle in his eyes. He pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses and spoke with a resonant tone. ”Zhang Fan, with those words from you, I’ll take this case! In my, Wang Jingdong’s, dictionary, there is no such word as ’loss.’ Especially in a case like this, where the strong bully the weak, I must win!”

He immediately pulled out his phone and pressed a speed-dial key. As soon as the call connected, he barked orders into the receiver. ”Old Chen, hand over your current criminal defense cases to your deputy and come to Jiangcheng immediately. There’s a ’big job.’ Also, contact Professor Li in Shanghai—the one who specializes in ’forensic identification of forged evidence.’ Tell him this case will add another classic example to his career in the legal world. Furthermore, have the firm’s economic team pull up all of Tianhua Pharmaceutical’s financial statements and equity changes from the last five years. Focus on Qiming Capital’s investment records!”

After a series of hurried responses from the other end, Wang Jingdong hung up and dialed another number. ”Editor-in-Chief Zhang, this is Wang Jingdong. Save a ’headline’ for me. In three days, I’m going to expose a major news story about ’capital colluding with power to frame a folk divine doctor.’ The chain of evidence is absolutely solid... Yes, it’s Wang Tianhua of Tianhua Pharmaceutical. Don’t worry, I’ll take responsibility if anything happens.”

The three young lawyers watched Wang Jingdong’s decisive and efficient manner, their eyes lighting up. They had been with Wang Jingdong for half a year, but this was the first time they had seen him so excited and the first time they had encountered such a major case involving capital, power, and the media. Their pens moved swiftly, recording everything for fear of missing a single detail.

Seeing this, the weight in Zhang Fan’s heart finally lifted. He trusted Wang Jingdong’s abilities. Combined with the Song family’s media and the Lu family’s connections, even if Wang Tianhua had official backing, he might not necessarily win. This battle was not only for Li Yong’s innocence but also to counter the Tianming Group. Wang Tianhua was a ”pawn” for Tianming. By crushing him, they could uncover more of Tianming’s layout in the pharmaceutical field.

”By the way, Lawyer Wang.” Zhang Fan suddenly remembered something and took a piece of yellow paper from a drawer. ”This is the anti-cancer formula Li Yong copied by hand. See if you can approach it from the perspective of ’intellectual property’—Wang Tianhua wants the formula; essentially, he wants to steal Li Yong’s intellectual achievements. This is also a piece of incriminating evidence.”

Wang Jingdong took the yellow paper, looked at it carefully, and his eyes lit up. ”Good stuff! This formula has Li Yong’s handwritten signature and the date, which can prove his ’originality.’ I’ll have the intellectual property team file it immediately. If Wang Tianhua dares to copy it privately, we can even sue him for ’copyright infringement’ and add another charge against him!”

The atmosphere in the office gradually grew heated, no longer as heavy as before. Wang Jingdong’s phone rang incessantly—one moment it was Professor Li from Shanghai confirming his itinerary, the next it was Old Chen saying he was already on his way to Jiangcheng, and then media friends calling to ask for ”news details.” The three young lawyers also began to divide the work: one organizing the chain of evidence, one contacting witnesses, and one researching relevant legal statutes. The entire team was like a precision machine, suddenly operating at high speed.

Zhang Fan walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked at the endless stream of traffic below, a faint smile playing on his lips. Wang Tianhua thought he could crush them with power and capital, but he didn’t expect that Zhang Fan had not only an ace lawyer like Wang Jingdong but also the entire Qidian Alliance as his backup. He was ready for this ”trial of the century”—and Wang Tianhua and the Tianming Group behind him would soon pay a heavy price for their misdeeds.

”Lawyer Wang,” Zhang Fan turned around to look at the busy group. ”In three days, we’ll fire the first shot. Blast out all the hard evidence of Wang Tianhua forging documents!”

Wang Jingdong looked up, the fighting spirit in his eyes even stronger. ”No problem! I’ll guarantee he hits the ’trending searches’ on the first day. Let the people of the whole country see what kind of ’hypocrite’ the chairman of Tianhua Group really is!”
