Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

156: Chapter 156 System Warning: Car Accident SceneOn a Friday afternoon on the main road of Jiangcheng, sunlight filtered through the car window onto the documents on Zhang Fan’s lap—having just finished discussing the overseas developments of Polaris with the Lu family, he was on his way back to the company to coordinate the preliminary R&D plan for the medical ai with Lu Qingyan.

The driver, Old Chen, held the steering wheel and reported in a steady tone, ”Mr. Zhang, up ahead is the intersection of Jiangcheng Avenue and Huimin Road. It’s easy to get stuck in traffic at this time. Should we take a detour?”

Just as Zhang Fan was about to nod, a hurried buzzing sound from the system suddenly rang in his mind, and a light blue [Emergency Intelligence] pop-up window with a warning symbol appeared:

[Emergency Intelligence: A traffic accident will occur at the intersection 100 meters ahead (Jiangcheng Avenue - Huimin Road) at 15:03. An electric delivery scooter will run a red light and collide with a car driving normally. To avoid it, the car will overturn, and the driver will be injured. A key figure, ”Li Yong” (a folk TCM practitioner, skilled in bone injury emergency treatment, holding an ancestral medical practice license), will appear at the scene. His emergency treatment actions will spark controversy. It is recommended to go and witness it, as it may provide key assistance to the subsequent medical ai project.]

”Old Chen, don’t take a detour. Keep going normally, but watch out for electric scooters at the intersection ahead.” Zhang Fan immediately sat up straight, took out his phone, and opened the video recording function. ”There might be an accident; I’m recording a video for evidence.”

Although puzzled, Old Chen’s years of training as a veteran made him immediately alert. He slowed down, his eyes fixed on the intersection ahead.

Sure enough, at 15:03, a yellow electric delivery scooter suddenly rushed out from the non-motorized lane on the right, ignoring the red light and crossing the road directly—at this moment, a white car was driving normally according to the green light. To avoid the scooter, the driver swerved hard. The car lost control and crashed into the roadside guardrail with a loud ”bang,” shattering the windshield and severely deforming the front of the car.

”Stop!” Zhang Fan immediately shouted, pushed open the car door, and rushed over. He saw that the driver of the car was a middle-aged woman, moaning in pain while clutching her right arm, with blood seeping from her forehead.

The delivery driver had fallen to the ground with the scooter pinning his leg. The soup from his thermal box had spilled everywhere, but ignoring his knee, he scrambled up and rushed to pull at the car door, his tone aggressive: ”Do you know how to drive? Didn’t you see me crossing the road? My scooter’s shell is broken, and the delivery is spilled. You have to compensate me!”

Bystanders soon gathered around, chattering: ”It was clearly you who ran the red light, why are you blaming the driver?”

”The driver looks badly hurt, call an ambulance first!”

The delivery driver retorted stiffly: ”So what if I ran a red light? Why was she driving so fast? Anyway, she has to compensate me for the scooter and lost wages, otherwise, this isn’t over!”

Just then, an old man wearing a grey Zhongshan suit with greying hair pushed through the crowd and rushed over. It was Li Yong, mentioned by the system.

He ignored the arguing delivery driver and bent down to check on the driver’s condition. His fingers quickly pressed on her right arm and neck, and his brows furrowed tightly: ”Don’t move. Your right arm might be fractured, and there’s a slight misalignment of your cervical spine. Moving around will easily worsen the injury.”

As he spoke, Li Yong pulled a small porcelain bottle from the cloth bag he carried, poured a few drops of light yellow medicinal liquid onto the side of the driver’s neck, then took out splints and bandages from the bag, skillfully fixing her right arm.

The whole process was smooth and fluid. In less than three minutes, the driver’s originally painful expression softened significantly, and she could speak clearly: ”Thank you, sir. I feel much better. Just now, my arm hurt so much I couldn’t move it.”

”Don’t thank me yet. Wait for the ambulance to arrive for further examination.”

Just as Li Yong stood up, he was shoved by the delivery driver: ”Who are you? Do you have a medical license? How dare you just treat people? What if you make it worse? I think you’re just trying to extort money!”

These words instantly ignited controversy. Someone followed up with skepticism: ”Yeah, there are many scammers nowadays. Practicing medicine without a license is illegal!”

But other bystanders retorted: ”The old man is clearly saving someone, how can you say that? The driver was about to faint from pain just now; it was the old man who saved her!”

Li Yong’s hands were shaking with anger. Just as he was about to say something, a hand gently patted his shoulder.

It was Zhang Fan, walking over holding his phone. On the screen, the complete recording of the incident was playing—from the delivery driver running the red light, to the car swerving and overturning, to the entire process of Li Yong’s emergency treatment, with the timestamp clearly visible.

”Young man, the surveillance video is very clear. You ran the red light, which caused the accident. The traffic responsibility lies entirely with you.” Zhang Fan’s tone was calm but carried an unquestionable strength. ”Furthermore, Mr. Li’s emergency treatment actions were professional; he is clearly an experienced healer. You shouldn’t slander him like that.”

The delivery driver glanced at the phone screen, his expression changed, but he remained stubborn: ”Damn it! Who the hell are you? This is none of your business! My issue with her is not for you to interfere with!”

As he spoke, he reached out to grab Zhang Fan’s phone, but was grabbed by the wrist by Old Chen, who had been prepared. Old Chen was a scout before retiring from the army, and his grip was extremely steady. With just a slight twist, the delivery driver grimaced in pain, yet he still didn’t forget to incite the onlookers: ”Help! The rich are bullying the vulnerable! They are ganging up to bully me, a food delivery worker!”

A few onlookers who didn’t know the truth actually took out their phones to take pictures, muttering, ”Don’t bully people.”

Seeing this, Zhang Fan simply held the phone up high so that everyone around could see the video clearly: ”Everyone, look clearly. He ran the red light and caused the accident, and now he wants to extort the driver and slander the old man who saved her. I have already called the traffic police and the ambulance. When the law enforcement officers arrive, they will naturally handle this impartially.”

The sentiment of the crowd gradually shifted. Someone pointed at the delivery driver and cursed: ”So you were the one twisting the truth; how shameless!”

”The old man saved the person you wanted to extort; has your conscience been eaten by a dog?”

Seeing the situation was unfavorable, the delivery driver wanted to slip away, but was firmly held down by Old Chen, unable to move.

Soon, the traffic police and the ambulance arrived one after another. The traffic police reviewed Zhang Fan’s video evidence and immediately determined that the delivery driver was fully responsible, issuing an accident liability certificate on the spot.

After examining the driver’s injuries, the medical staff praised Li Yong highly: ”Sir, your emergency treatment was very timely. If it had been a few minutes later, the patient’s fracture might have shifted, and the cervical spine misalignment could easily have led to complications.”

Li Yong finally breathed a sigh of relief and explained to the traffic police: ”Officer, although I don’t have a medical license, my family has practiced medicine for generations, and I have also provided free clinics at community hospitals before.”

Although the traffic police didn’t care about the medical license issue, everyone has a sense of judgment. They were naturally very polite to Li Yong for saving someone and said with a smile: ”Sir, don’t misunderstand. Your act of saving someone is worthy of everyone’s learning and praise. It’s just that some people in society have ruined the atmosphere. You did the right thing today!”

After the ambulance took the driver away, the traffic police took the delivery driver away, and the crowd dispersed, Zhang Fan took the initiative to walk up to Li Yong and handed him a bottle of water: ”Mr. Li, thank you for saving someone today. My name is Zhang Fan. I run a technology company and am currently working on a medical ai project with a friend, mainly involving TCM diagnosis. Your emergency treatment techniques just now were very professional, and I would like to ask for your advice.”

Li Yong took the water, took a sip, and sized up Zhang Fan: ”It’s a good thing you’re doing TCM AI. There aren’t many young people willing to inherit TCM nowadays. But TCM emphasizes ’looking, listening, asking, and feeling the pulse.’ I’ll have to see if AI can achieve accurate diagnosis.”

”That is exactly what we want to ask for your help with.” Zhang Fan’s eyes brightened. ”Our medical ai currently lacks clinical experience data, especially in fields with strong practical application like bone injuries and acupuncture. If you are willing to join and use your experience to guide the diagnostic model, it might allow more people in remote areas to enjoy high-quality TCM services.”

Li Yong was stunned for a moment, then smiled: ”If you can really make TCM benefit more people, of course I’m willing to help. But I’m old and don’t understand technology; I can only provide experience. Just don’t find me troublesome.”

”How could I!” Zhang Fan quickly took out his business card and handed it over. ”This is my contact information. Next week, we will hold a kick-off meeting for the medical ai at the company. I would like to invite you to be a consultant. Would that be convenient for you?”

Li Yong took the business card and carefully put it into his cloth bag: ”It’s convenient. I will definitely be there.”

Watching Li Yong’s retreating figure, Old Chen couldn’t help but sigh: ”Mr. Zhang, you are really lucky to meet such a skilled old TCM practitioner. It will definitely be helpful for our project.”

Zhang Fan nodded with a smile, but he knew clearly in his heart—this was not luck; it was the guidance of the system [Emergency Intelligence], and an even more critical step in countering Polaris and advancing the medical ai project. He sat back in the car, took out his phone, and sent a message to Lu Qingyan: ”Found a master of folk TCM who specializes in bone injury emergency treatment. I’ve invited him to be a consultant for the medical ai next week. Our project has gained another layer of assurance.”
