Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

176: Chapter 177 The Old Chinese Medicine Doctor’s Worries”This spring, I went to the neighboring village to treat an old man. While passing by the convenience store at the entrance of the village, I happened to see Wang Haoyu pulling at a young girl—that girl is an internet celebrity from the neighboring village named Xiaoya, who usually makes money by shooting short videos. Wang Haoyu was drunk and insisted on dragging her to his car, spouting lewd remarks. Xiaoya was so scared she was crying.”

Li Yong immediately stepped forward to intervene and shoved Wang Haoyu away: ”Are you even human? The young girl doesn’t want to, yet you’re forcing her!”

Wang Haoyu stumbled, his drunkenness fading significantly. Seeing it was Li Yong, a flash of panic crossed his face, but he quickly turned fierce: ”You old thing, none of your business! Xiaoya and I are friends, we’re just playing around!”

”Does playing around make someone cry from fear?” Li Yong refused to let it go and tried to pull Xiaoya away.

Wang Haoyu was completely enraged. He called over the two bodyguards who were with him and began punching and kicking Li Yong. ”The three of them beat me alone, breaking two of my ribs. They even warned me not to tell anyone, or they would tear down my clinic!”

Li Yong was furious. Once his injuries healed, he went to the Police Station to report the incident. However, he didn’t expect that the Wang family had great influence in the local area. Not only did the people at the Police Station refuse to file a case, but they also advised him to ”not meddle in other people’s business.”

What chilled his heart even more was that a few days later, Xiaoya suddenly recanted, claiming that she had been ”playing with Wang Haoyu voluntarily” at the time, and even accused Li Yong of ”deliberately stirring up trouble to extort money.”

”I only found out later that the Wang family gave Xiaoya’s family 500,000 yuan and helped her younger brother find a job, which is why she was forced to turn around and bite back at me.”

Li Yong’s voice choked up, his eyes reddening. ”I saved his life, helped him regain his manhood, yet he treats me like this—and that’s not all. A few days ago, he came to me again, saying he wanted my ancestral anti-cancer herbal formula. He said that either I give him the formula, or he would report me for ’practicing medicine without a license’ and send me to jail!”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Fan understood instantly—Wang Haoyu’s initial retaliation might just have been venting anger, but demanding the formula later was definitely under the instruction of Tianming Group.

Tianhua Group is a subsidiary of Tianming Group. Wang Haoyu is merely a pawn used by Tianming Group to snatch the formula. They had even pre-planned the charge of ”practicing medicine without a license,” pressing step by step just to force Li Yong to submit.

Gu Jingshen clenched his fists in anger: ”That bastard is truly despicable! Ungrateful, framing people, he’s just human scum! Uncle Li, don’t be afraid. Let’s go sue him right now! I’ll find the best lawyer; I don’t believe we can’t deal with him!”

”It’s useless.” Li Yong shook his head, his eyes filled with despair. ”The Wang family has money and power, with connections in the Police Station and the Bureau of Industry and Commerce. My previous police report was useless. Going to sue him now will only allow him to bite back.”

”Besides, he said that if I dared to give the formula to anyone else, he would go after my grandson in the countryside—I’m old and don’t fear jail, but I can’t implicate the child!”

Watching Li Yong’s helpless appearance, Zhang Fan’s determination to help him grew stronger. He patted Li Yong on the shoulder, his tone firm: ”Uncle Li, don’t worry. The people behind Wang Haoyu are Tianming Group. What they want is not just the formula, but our medical ai.”

”But this time, we won’t let them succeed—I will send someone to protect your grandson. As for Wang Haoyu, we have evidence. Didn’t he want to report you for practicing medicine without a license? Let’s make him taste the consequences of filing a false accusation and intentional injury first!”

Just then, a car horn sounded at the entrance of the clinic. Immediately after, several men in black suits walked in. The leader held a document in his hand—it was Wang Haoyu’s bodyguard.

Wang Haoyu’s bodyguard stepped onto the threshold of the clinic, waving the ”Formula Transfer Agreement” in his hand with a rustling sound, his tone full of threats: ”Li Yong, don’t be ungrateful! Our young master said that today you either sign this agreement or wait for the police to come and arrest you tomorrow—at that time, whether your precious grandson in the countryside can be safe while at school, well, that’s hard to say!”

Gu Jingshen immediately flared up, rolling up his sleeves and preparing to step forward: ”How dare you threaten people? Do you believe I’ll cripple you right now?”

”Don’t be impulsive.” Zhang Fan grabbed him, his eyes sweeping coldly over the bodyguards. ”This is a clinic, not a place for you to run wild. Wang Haoyu sent you here to provoke us so he can confirm a charge of ’resisting law enforcement with violence.’ Do you really think we’d fall for that?”

The bodyguards were stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting Zhang Fan to be so calm. The leader’s expression darkened, but he didn’t dare to actually make a move—the two friends Gu Jingshen brought were already blocking the door, and judging by their stance, they were trained; if a real fight broke out, they might not have the advantage.

He could only leave a harsh threat: ”Fine, you’ve got guts! But I’m warning you, our young master’s men are already watching nearby. If you dare to step one foot out of this clinic, just wait and see!” After finishing, he glared fiercely at Li Yong and left dejectedly with his men.

Watching the bodyguards disappear at the end of the alley, Gu Jingshen was still cursing: ”This Wang Haoyu is too arrogant! Relying on a bit of family money to act lawlessly! Uncle Li, we can’t just let it go like this; we have to fight back!”

Li Yong, however, sighed heavily and slumped onto a wooden stool, his fingers unconsciously rubbing the wood grain on the edge of the counter: ”Fight back? How to fight back? It’s too easy for him to find dirt on me—I don’t have a formal medical license. Although I’ve been practicing medicine in this area for decades and the villagers recognize me, according to the rules, it’s ’practicing medicine without a license’.”

”He has already hired people. Soon someone will pretend to be a patient to seek treatment and then report it to the police on the spot. By then, I will be caught red-handed, and I won’t be able to defend myself.”

”Is it really worth all this trouble just to get revenge for what happened before?” Zhang Fan frowned, his doubts deepening. Wang Haoyu is the young master of Tianhua Group. There are plenty of ways to deal with an unlicensed folk doctor; there’s no need to specially set up a trap and threaten his family. There must be a deeper purpose behind this.

Li Yong was silent for a long time, his fingers turning white from gripping so hard, as if making a difficult decision. He looked up at Zhang Fan, his eyes filled with struggle. Finally, he gritted his teeth and revealed the secret hidden in his heart: ”He wants to catch me, but not entirely for revenge—last year, when I was treating his hidden ailment, I unintentionally mentioned to him that my life’s greatest effort was researching an ancestral anti-cancer herbal formula.”

”Anti-cancer formula?” Zhang Fan and Gu Jingshen were stunned at the same time.

”Yes.” Li Yong’s voice lowered, his eyes filled with cherishment for the formula. ”That formula was passed down by my great-grandfather. I have been researching it for over forty years, and two years ago, I finally made a major breakthrough—using seven types of deep-mountain herbs, the decoction has a significant inhibitory effect on terminal liver cancer patients. Last year, I tested it on three patients in the neighboring village, and all of them had their lifespans extended by at least a year. One of them is even still able to work in the fields now.”
