Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 173: Chapter 58: Cheating_2

”Yes.” Suqi blinked curiously, ”Or did you sneak a peek at the cards beforehand?”

Zhang Jianmin and Zhao Haizhe stared intently at Lu Li, eager to hear his response.

Lu Li knew these seemingly casual questions were actually probing for information.

They wanted to figure out his mindset when he placed his bets.

So they could adjust their strategies for the upcoming rounds.

Normally, Lu Li should speak smartly to avoid being seen through.

But with all his superpowers, he didn’t need to worry about these things at all.

Because once the shuffling ended, he could use his x-ray vision to see what cards he would get, eliminating any possibility of losing.

Furthermore, he had an upgraded microscopic vision that allowed him to ”change” the cards to whatever he wanted.

Lu Li casually said, ”I didn’t see the cards, but playing cards is all about luck, isn’t it? Seeing the cards might make me lose confidence, thus not believing in luck. So I choose not to look at them and trust in the favor of Lady Luck.”

Saying this, he smiled and said, ”Even if Lady Luck doesn’t favor me, losing a few tens of millions is something I can handle. At worst, I’ll lose a few hundred million tonight and then leave. No need to overthink winning or losing.”

Does anyone really rely solely on luck?

Zhang Jianmin, Zheng Ya, and Zhao Haizhe were a bit stunned.

But they still admired Lu Li’s carefree attitude.

Indeed, in any card game, as long as cheating isn’t involved, it boils down to who has better luck.

Especially in Texas Hold’em, with two hole cards and five community cards.

Without cheating, no one is ever certain of winning until the end.

Looking at the cards might cause a lack of confidence.

You’ll wonder if you’ll get the cards you need next.

If you don’t, what if you lose too much money? Then, under pressure, you’ll fold.

Once you fold, you can’t compete for the win anymore.

Indeed, sometimes relying on luck is more practical than relying on tactics.

Even though it’s not absolute, if luck’s on your side, nothing can stop it.

Clearly, Zhang Jianmin, Suqi, and others felt Lu Li was currently on a lucky streak.

They all secretly marveled, this guy’s luck is really incredible.

”Mr. Lu wins the round.”

After the dealer deducted 2.46 million, she pushed the remaining 79.54 million chips toward Lu Li.

Chips piled up in front of Lu Li like a small mountain.

He never expected to win 40 or 50 million Hong Kong Dollars without even needing to use his cheating superpowers.

Although after subtracting the initial loss of 1.4 million and the round’s cost of 23 million, he actually only won 55.14 million, it still felt like easy money.

Sitting there for just a few minutes, he earned over 55 million.

Even picking money up from the ground doesn’t happen that fast.

Thrilling.

Truly thrilling.

Lu Li’s joy made his blood boil a little.

He considered how to win quickly and decisively.

After all, winning and losing would cause the casino to take a lot of rake.

Quick wins ensure maximum profit.

The fifth round was about to start.

Zhang Jianmin suddenly extended a hand and said, ”I suspect there’s something wrong with the dealer’s dealing...”

He looked at the slightly displeased dealer and explained, ”I’m not saying you’re unprofessional, but when I play Texas Hold’em, I’m used to shuffling and dealing myself. It brings better luck.”

Zheng Ya, knowing Zhang Jianmin was about to cheat, pretended to agree, ”Yeah, I also prefer to deal when I play cards with others.”

Greg did the same, feigning curiosity, ”With so many of us playing, isn’t it possible someone could cheat if only one person deals?”

Zhang Jianmin laughed, ”It’s simple, really. The person on the dealer button shuffles and deals. That way, everyone gets a turn, and it’s fair and just, right?”

”Hmm, I think that’s fine.”

”Mr. Lu, what do you think?”

Suqi and Zhao Haizhe posed the question with feigned sincerity.

If they wanted to cheat, they needed control over the cards.

They assumed Lu Li would be resistant to this idea.

Then they could threaten to stop playing with him.

Putting pressure on him, he would have no choice but to agree.

Who would have thought, they never got to use their rehearsed lines.

Lu Li seemed unfazed and said with a smile, ”I have no problem with it. Who wants to deal first?”

Huh?

He agreed so easily?

Zhang Jianmin, Zheng Ya, and Suqi, even suspected Lu Li planned to cheat as well?

With that thought, they decided, when it was Lu Li’s turn to deal, they’d only put in the minimum bet and wouldn’t follow up.

The group finished their discussion.

The dealer had to reluctantly step back.

The fifth round began.

Since Zhang Jianmin was on the dealer button, he started the shuffling first.

Zhang Jianmin shuffled the cards with seemingly normal moves, dealing two hole cards to everyone.

On the surface, he didn’t know everyone’s cards.

But in reality, he knew them all.

He was fully aware of the five community cards that would come next.

Lu Li, as before, didn’t look at his hole cards.

Yes, he had already noticed Zhang Jianmin was cheating but didn’t expose him.

His hole cards were two threes.

One was a club, the other a spade.

Not only had he seen his own hole cards.

He also checked everyone else’s hole cards at the table.
