Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 156: Chapter 145: Eyes Evolve Again

The next morning, Lu Li received an email, the Hong Kong and Macau travel permit was processed!

Just as he got his hands on the travel permit, and was about to drive with Wu Er Mountain to study, Qin Liang called.

Lu Li, driving his Cullinan, answered with a Bluetooth headset: ”Mr. Qin, good morning.”

Qin Liang’s laughter came through the headset, ”Master Lu, has your Hong Kong and Macau travel permit been processed?”

Lu Li glanced at the bright sunshine and chuckled, ”Did you plan this? I just received the package, and you’re calling?”

”Haha,” Qin Liang laughed, ”What a coincidence, what a coincidence. Since you’ve got the travel permit, shall we head to Macau together tomorrow?”

Lu Li slowly drove the car out of the villa, preparing to respond to Qin Liang.

Suddenly, he saw Liu Peinan waiting at the gate with several people, and he said into the phone, ”Hold on a moment.”

He temporarily stopped the car, rolled down the window, and asked, ”Mr. Liu, what are you doing here?”

Liu Peinan quickly came forward with a smile, ”I saw last night that a tree in your yard had fallen, so I came over to handle it. Are you alright?”

Lu Li knew the other was trying to curry favor with him.

Otherwise, given Liu Peinan’s status.

He wouldn’t personally come over just because a tree fell.

He waved, ”I’m fine, but thanks for cleaning up.”

”No problem, no problem,” Liu Peinan politely pointed inside, ”If you agree, I’ll have my men go in?”

Lu Li nodded, ”Alright, thank you.”

Liu Peinan exchanged a few more polite words and then took his people inside to get busy.

Lu Li looked back briefly, shifted his focus back to the call with Qin Liang, and continued driving out.

”Mr. Qin.”

”Master Lu, please go ahead.”

”Alright, when and where shall we meet tomorrow?”

”I’ve arranged with the airport for my dad’s private plane; it will take off at 3 PM, and we should arrive in Macau around 6 PM. We’ll have dinner first, and then hit the casino at night?”

”Sounds good.”

”Great, please send me your details later, so I can register with the airport. I’ll send someone to pick you up in Su City at noon tomorrow, alright?”

Lu Li responded with a simple ”Hmm,” and didn’t say much more, ending the call with Qin Liang soon after.

As he drove on the road, he couldn’t help but marvel.

Having abilities is just different.

Both Qin Liang and Liu Peinan were eager to please him.

Back when he was just an ordinary person, not to mention these wealthy and powerful people, even relatives might not show concern.

The feeling of being respected, he had to admit, was truly wonderful.

Having agreed with 749’s side, under the condition they wouldn’t track him, he had to notify them wherever he went.

Thus, after confirming his plans to go to Macau tomorrow, Lu Li sent a message to Zhang Guocheng, informing him of his whereabouts.

...

Arriving at Wu Er Mountain’s home.

As soon as he knocked and entered, Wu Er Mountain warmly asked the housemaid to make tea.

He didn’t see Shen Xia, presumably busy with her own work.

Lu Li had just sat on the sofa, took a sip of tea, and asked, ”Teacher Wu, is Miss Shen not here?”

Wu Er Mountain leaned back on the sofa, chuckled, ”She’s busy at the research center. Xiaoshen has a lot of projects and her own research. She’ll be going to the Ugly Country for a scientific project soon; she couldn’t possibly keep me company all day.”

Lu Li had casually asked, fearing Wu Er Mountain might be too old to effectively teach him physics.

Now hearing Wu Er Mountain say this, Lu Li smiled, ”I didn’t realize Miss Shen had achieved so much at a young age.”

”Yes, she has quite the talent for physics. I think if she focuses on her research, she might actually win the Nobel Prize,” Wu Er Mountain praised, then shifted the topic, ”Yesterday, you took a pile of books from here, how did it go?”

Lu Li replied honestly, ”Finished them all.”

Wu Er Mountain was taken aback, a bit surprised, ”You finished all ten books?”

Lu Li said, ”Yes, all of them are very familiar to me now.”

Wu Er Mountain could hardly believe it, ”Are you sure? That’s ten books.”

His skepticism was understandable.

After all, it was ten books.

Who could finish them all in one night, and be familiar with them?

Lu Li knew Wu Er Mountain had no ill intent, just worried he might be lying.

He decided not to explain but instead recited a passage from Chapter Four of ”Six Extremes of Physics”: ”Aristotle believed that time is merely human memory. It’s because we have memory that we can feel the passage of time. If we disregard human perception of time... for an electron, there’s no forward or backward.”

Not only did he recite the passage, but he also identified every punctuation mark verbally.

Wu Er Mountain was dumbfounded, ”You even remember the punctuation?”

Lu Li smiled, ”Teacher Wu, I’m not trying to show off in front of you, just to show that I have a photographic 3D memory. So, whatever you teach me, I can’t promise understanding, but I will remember it.”

Wu Er Mountain first remained silent, then his face lit up with joy and he said excitedly, ”Really?”

Lu Li nodded affirmatively, ”Absolutely, you can test me any time.”

”No need, no need,” Wu Er Mountain exhaled a long breath, smiling broadly, ”I thought my age meant I might not have the time to impart all my knowledge, but now knowing you have a photographic 3D memory makes it much easier, hmm, I need to modify the teaching plan, it might be a bit harsh, can you handle it?”

Lu Li always maintained great respect towards top scientists like Wu Er Mountain, ”I’ll learn however you teach.”

”Good!” Wu Er Mountain responded with satisfaction, instructing the housemaid to bring various physics books while telling Lu Li, ”I may make you learn ravenously, as long as you remember the knowledge. Even if I’m not there in the future, you’ll have enough time to research and shine on your own.”

After speaking, Wu Er Mountain began a busy teaching session.

Lu Li followed him to study some middle and high school physics knowledge first.

Wu’s explanations were fairly general, but Lu Li had some foundational knowledge, so he could understand.

This session lasted the entire morning.

At noon, Wu Er Mountain had the housekeeper prepare a table of delicious dishes, repeatedly praising Lu Li’s quick learning speed during the meal.

In the afternoon, Wu Er Mountain rested for a while and then continued the morning’s lessons.

Around four in the afternoon, today’s teaching ended.

At this moment, Wu Er Mountain was casually discussing antimatter extraction with Lu Li.

Yes, this was something Lu Li intentionally steered the conversation towards.

He had heard that antimatter possessed significant power and wanted to know how to extract it.

Wu Er Mountain sat there and slowly explained, ”Actually, speaking about antimatter extraction, it seems simple, but the process is quite complex. Take our country for instance, scientists use laser technology to extract antimatter. The principle is the use of a laser device and a high-pressure gas target, generating a large number of high-energy electrons. These electrons then react with a high-Z material target, and through the Bremsstrahlung mechanism, produce high-intensity gamma rays to perform weak interaction, thereby creating electron-positron pairs.”

Then he explained the various principles in detail once more.

After listening, Lu Li was deep in thought, considering that if he had microscopic vision, maybe one day he could see at an electron level and probably, through his spiritual power, might try if he could extract antimatter just by his own strength.

If he could truly achieve this, then the power he held would be enough to make hundreds of countries on Earth tremble.

They chatted for a while longer.

Lu Li was about to get up and say goodbye.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang with a ”ding dong ding dong”.

The housekeeper went to open the door, and Shen Xia walked in from outside.

At this point, Lu Li had already stood up. Seeing her walk in, he casually greeted, ”Miss Shen, good afternoon.”

”Mr. Lu, hello,” Shen Xia looked at his face and said with a smile, ”I didn’t realize you’re quite fashionable.”

Lu Li was baffled by this, ”What do you mean, quite fashionable?”

Shen Xia looked at his eyes, ”Your green-colored contact lenses.”

Green-colored contact lenses?

I didn’t wear contact lenses.

Lu Li was a bit confused by what she said.

From behind came Wu Er Mountain’s voice in agreement, ”Hey, I thought Xiaolu looked a bit different today. Now that Xiaoshen mentioned it, I remember, Xiaolu’s eyes are a lush green; it seems he wore contact lenses.”

If one person observed this, it might not be accurate.

Now that both Wu Er Mountain and Shen Xia had noticed it.

It indicated that his eyes indeed had changed.

Lu Li immediately realized that his eyes must have involuntarily undergone evolution.

However, since he was still in someone else’s house, it wasn’t a good time to test anything.

Therefore, Lu Li uttered a few vague words, politely declined Wu Er Mountain’s invitation to dinner, and said ”goodbye” before taking his leave.

...

Back in his car.

Lu Li did not start the car immediately; instead, he checked his eyes in the rearview mirror to see what was going on.

He saw his eyes in the mirror, with a slight green hue, really looking as if he were wearing contact lenses.

This slight green resembled the eyes of a person of European and American mixed descent.

”Have my eyes evolved again?”

Lu Li felt a bit curious.

What function had his eyes developed this time?

It wasn’t convenient to test this out in public for the time being.

Lu Li decided to first return to Diamond Home and then conduct the tests.

The reason he wasn’t going to the Chinese courtyard villa was because he had to go to Macau the next day.

On one hand, he needed to pick up some clothes at Diamond Home.

On the other hand, he hadn’t seen Shen Xia for several days and wanted to check in with her.

As the car drove towards Diamond Home, Lu Li pondered over the eye issue.

According to what he knew, eyes and the body’s immune system are not the same.

Human eyes generally have an independent immune system.

If the body’s immune system ”discovered” the existence of the eyes, it might destroy the eyes.

This can be seen when an eye is injured.

If someone injures one eye and it is not removed, the other eye can become blind in a short time.

His eyes had evolved before.

Besides initially establishing a ”field” within the body.

There was another time when his eyes upgraded to microscopic vision.

That time, Lu Li felt a dazzling light before his eyes which led to imbalance.

Recalling this situation, Lu Li could approximately determine that his eyes had become completely different after developing microscopic vision, only he hadn’t paid attention at the time.

Lu Li pondered to himself, ”Analyzing based on the notion that the eyes and the body’s immune system are different, is it possible for me to directly evolve to something like laser eyes?”
