Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 163: Chapter 153: Won 265 Million Hong Kong Dollars in a Single Hand

”Wow, he’s playing big.”

”Did he just throw a million chips on the table right off the bat?”

”Heh, the bigger he plays, the better. As long as he loses enough, we’ll win more.”

A few people overseeing the game whispered among themselves, hoping Lu Li would lose more.

After all, according to the backing rules, their boss was essentially betting against Lu Li.

Mei Ruohua was also shocked that Lu Li bet a million chips all at once,

but her income from gamblers didn’t just come from commissions; she also provided credit chips, known as non-negotiable chips.

What are non-negotiable chips?

Non-negotiable chips, also called rolling or dead chips, are a special type of chip used in casinos, different from cash chips.

Non-negotiable chips cannot be directly exchanged for cash or live chips, nor can they be redeemed for other goods and services; they can only be bet in designated areas of the casino.

If the customer loses, the non-negotiable chips belong to the casino.

If the customer wins, they receive a payout and live chips equivalent to the bet amount.

Lu Li currently had over three million in live chips, and if he lost it all in one go, he would only be able to use non-negotiable chips next.

This way, wouldn’t Mei Ruohua profit from it?

Naturally, she didn’t care whether Lu Li won or lost, as either outcome would earn her money.

Of course, not caring about winning or losing is one thing, but taking good care of such a major patron is another.

Mei Ruohua also did some PR work, proactively bringing Lu Li some snacks and drinks, and even placing a few premium cigars nearby.

At this moment, the dealer was dealing cards.

Qin Liang, although knowing not to contradict Lu Li, was really worried that Lu Li would be upset if he lost.

He cautiously and tactfully said, ”Mr. Lu, don’t you want to play a couple of small rounds first to get familiar?”

Lu Li took a sip of juice and waved his hand, saying, ”No need, it’s just a matter of tens of millions of wins or losses, I can afford it.”

The famous female singer beside them couldn’t help but glance over when she heard this.

At this moment, the dealer finished dealing the cards.

The banker had an A and a 6, totaling seven.

The player had a 2 and a 7, totaling nine, the highest possible.

”Huh?”

”He actually bet correctly.”

Several gamblers looked over repeatedly, their demeanor noticeably more refined than those in the main hall. Although very surprised that Lu Li won a million on his first bet, they didn’t make a fuss.

Qin Liang was amused, ”Wow, Mr. Lu, you won the first round.”

Lu Li grinned, ”It seems my luck is indeed pretty good tonight.”

Mei Ruohua, standing in the back, thought to herself that his luck wasn’t just good; it was phenomenal.

He hit a 150-times payout in the middle of the casino, and then immediately won eleven million; this kind of luck is out of this world.

The group who came to oversee the game and were hoping Lu Li would lose, saw him win the first round. Their faces grew serious, no longer gloating like before.

The shuffling machine quickly finished its job.

When the dealing device was ready, the female dealer gestured, ”Please place your bets.”

The nearby female singer thought for a moment and continued to bet on the banker.

On the other side, Qin Liang didn’t place a bet immediately. Instead, he looked at Lu Li, ”Mr. Lu, whatever you bet on, I’ll follow suit.”

Since the maximum single-table betting limit here was three million.

Thus, Lu Li simply tossed three million in chips again on the player.

Qin Liang, without thinking, also threw down five hundred thousand in chips.

”Huh?”

”He’s playing even bigger this time, directly betting three million?”

”Should we follow his bet?”

Several gamblers whispered among themselves, some following, some not.

Seeing Lu Li’s ”magnanimous and bold” actions, these gamblers merely pondered whether to follow suit, without much emotional fluctuation.

In contrast, the dozen or so people overseeing the game wore different expressions.

They were all somewhat intimidated by Lu Li’s first-round win.

If Lu Li won again this round, their boss would lose three million per person!

The female dealer remained composed. Once everyone had finished betting, she began dealing the cards.

The banker’s first card was a three.

The player’s first card was a king, representing zero points.

The group overseeing the game couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Given the current situation, the probability of the player losing seemed big.

Indeed, the banker’s next card was a five, making for a total of eight points. It looked like a sure win.

The cards dealt to the player kept the overseeing group feeling relieved.

Because an intermediate card of five was revealed as well.

According to the rules, a third card can be dealt for the player if their total is six or below.

But with a total of five points already, unless a four is dealt next, they would lose.

After all, with the banker at eight points, the only way to win was by drawing a four.

The chance of that happening seemed too small!

Naturally, those overseeing the game believed Lu Li would surely fail this round.

Not only did the dozen or so overseers think this way, but Mei Ruohua and the gamblers did as well.

Even Qin Liang thought the fifty thousand he had bet was gone.

However, when the female dealer revealed the third card, everyone widened their eyes in disbelief!

The third card was actually a four!

In this case, the player had a king, five, and a four, totaling exactly nine points!

”No way!”

”Is this for real?”

”The third card actually turned out to be the only possible card to win against the banker, a four?”

”Seriously, his luck is insanely good!”

The female singer and a group of gamblers were somewhat incredulous.

Even more incredulous were the group of casino monitors behind them, their eyes were wide open.

How could someone be so lucky? The last card just happened to be the only one that could win, a 4?

This made the group of monitors suspect for a moment whether Lu Li was cheating.

But the cards are shuffled by the VIP room’s shuffling machine, and the cards are dealt by the dealing machine, so the possibility of cheating seems almost zero.

Of course, it’s not impossible, for instance, some people could use high technology to interfere with the shuffling machine or the dealing machine.

But to use high technology, you’d definitely have to make some moves, right?

Lu Li sat there without even playing with his phone, with both hands on the gambling table, not at all like someone cheating.

Therefore, although the group of monitors doubted whether Lu Li was cheating, it was just doubt.

Lu Li didn’t notice the inner thoughts of those monitors at all.

So far, he really hadn’t cheated, he was just simply using his x-ray vision to see the cards.

The result was that just by using his x-ray vision to see the cards, he won 44 million in two hands!

”The speed of winning in the VIP room is indeed faster than on the main floor.”

Lu Li felt very satisfied in his heart, thinking that as long as he made a bit more effort, winning one or two hundred million tonight was no problem.

Well, it’s not that he’s not confident of winning more.

In fact, with his many superpowers.

And if the VIP room is willing.

He could bankrupt the house owner in one night without any problem.

The reason he only planned to win one or two hundred million tonight and then stop was completely because he didn’t want to offend people to death.

He himself is not afraid of retribution.

But after all, he was brought here by Qin Liang.

Lu Li didn’t want Qin Liang to be retaliated against.

Soon, the third round began.

Lu Li deliberately lost a million this time.

Well, losing a million for him is like losing eleven million.

”Phew.”

”As the saying goes, things don’t come in threes, finally lost.”

”Yeah, winning and losing is normal, it’s just that he plays big, making us so nervous.”

A dozen or so monitors were whispering over there, and their emotions gradually picked up.

In their view, as long as Lu Li had wins and losses, there was a seventy to eighty percent chance he’d lose a large sum, between tens of millions to a billion tonight.

Even if they split it evenly between their ten bosses, each boss behind them could expect to win millions or even tens of millions of Hong Kong Dollars from Lu Li tonight.

It’s because of this thought.

The mood of this group of monitors improved wonderfully, hoping that Lu Li would lose more in the next rounds.

Just as everyone was having these thoughts, Lu Li threw three million chips on ”tie”.

Now the monitors were even happier since the probability of ”tie” was even lower; wasn’t Lu Li about to lose 33 million all at once?

And then...

Well, it really was a tie.

Banker had an A and a 5, six points.

Player had a 2 and a 4, also six points.

A dozen or so monitors: ”...”

They were all stunned over there.

They just thought Lu Li would lose 33 million in this hand.

But in the blink of an eye, it turned into them losing 240 million!

The other 24 million was lost by the VIP room.

The odds of a tie are one to eight.

Lu Li bet three million, didn’t he just win a total of 240 million from the other parties, and 24 million from the VIP room in one hand?

The monitors couldn’t sit still now.

Lu Li won their bosses 24 million each in this hand.

If this continued, wouldn’t it bankrupt their bosses?

The group of monitors hurriedly pulled out their phones to send messages to their bosses, explaining the situation at the scene.

The female singer who followed Lu Li’s bet seemed also surprised that she actually won. She became instantly excited, shouted ”Yeah,” and hugged Lu Li, giving him a peck, continuously thanking him, ”Handsome, thank you for letting me hit a ’tie,’ thank you, really thank you.”

She had bet 500,000 chips just now, and now with the one-to-eight odds, hadn’t she just won 4 million?

Lu Li touched the lipstick mark on his face, thinking that the entertainment industry was indeed chaotic, she didn’t even know his name, but because she hit a ”tie” once, winning 4 million, she hugged and kissed him.

Of course, he still quite enjoyed being kissed by the female singer, smiling as he said, ”Miss Zhao, as long as you’re afraid of losing, just keep betting with me tonight. I have confidence that you’ll win some money.”

Miss Zhao immediately nodded vigorously, ”I will keep betting with you.”

Miss Zhao was happy.

While a group of gamblers who bet on banker or player lost money, they started to grumble.

”Damn.”

”How can he be so lucky?”

”Only he and Miss Zhao won this hand; what a pity.”

This group of people’s eyes turned envious red.

Lu Li originally thought he would stop once he’d won one or two hundred million tonight.

Unexpectedly, this hand resulted in a tie, allowing him to suddenly win over 260 million Hong Kong Dollars.

Now he hesitated a bit, should he continue playing?

If he continued to play, those bosses who were playing against him might lose a lot.

In return, they would definitely feel unhappy with Qin Liang, and might even do something shady.

But if he didn’t continue playing, would it seem too purposeful to leave after just a few rounds?

Should he continue?

Lu Li sat there pondering.
