Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 72: Chapter 67: The Favor of a Billionaire’s Son

In the living room.

The three antiques already had their owners.

Uncle Xu said, ”Xiaolu, give me your bank account number, I’ll have someone transfer the money to you right away.”

Uncle Liu nodded, ”Me too.”

Lu Li didn’t hold back, he directly gave them his bank account number.

Qin Liang seemed a bit different from the other three, as if he wanted a chance to speak with Lu Li, he intentionally said, ”Mr. Lu, my computer is in the bedroom, would you come upstairs with me to make the transfer?”

Lu Li didn’t give it much thought, ”Sure.”

Saying this, he looked at the other three, ”Uncle Qin, Uncle Xu, Uncle Liu, excuse me for a moment while I go upstairs.”

”No problem.”

”Go ahead with your business.”

The three of them didn’t mind at all.

Lu Li said nothing more and followed Qin Liang upstairs.

...

On the second floor, in the east bedroom.

As soon as Qin Liang led Lu Li inside, he immediately turned on the computer, working on the transfer, while asking for confirmation of the account number.

Finally, confirming the account number was correct, Qin Liang hit the transfer confirmation.

”Mr. Lu, I’ve transferred the money to you.”

Qin Liang casually closed the computer, ”It should arrive within a few minutes.”

Lu Li was about to say ”okay” when his phone chimed; it was likely the bank notification of the deposit.

He didn’t immediately pull out his phone to check, but instead smiled and said to the other, ”Alright, thank you, Mr. Qin.”

Qin Liang smiled with narrowed eyes and said, ”By the way, we haven’t yet concluded our discussion about the cooperation we talked over earlier, how about... we continue?”

Lu Li hadn’t expected him to be so eager, and blinked, ”Sure, what kind of cooperation are you proposing, you tell me.”

Actually, it wasn’t Qin Liang’s fault for being eager, at first he thought Lu Li was not a particularly wealthy person, who could be swayed by tens or hundreds of thousands casually.

Who would have thought, today he saw Lu Li’s terrifying ability to judge the authenticity of antiques, knowing as the other had said before, making money was easy.

If he couldn’t reach a cooperative intention with Lu Li at this moment, what if Lu Li went home and decided not to cooperate anymore?

Qin Liang was counting on Lu Li to represent McBao King in the Nathan Hot Dog Challenge final to win the championship, allowing him to leverage it for promotion and operation, boosting McBao King’s fame, thereby attracting more franchises.

”Previously, I thought of offering you a certain reward to represent McBao King in the competition.” Qin Liang said sincerely, ”But after half a day, I found that Mr. Lu, you are not someone who lacks tens or hundreds of thousands, if I continued to offer similar terms, it would seem like an insult.”

Lu Li listened quietly, not interrupting.

Qin Liang continued, ”So I conceived a plan, if Mr. Chen is willing to represent McBao King in the competition and can win first place, I would... offer you a certain percentage of McBao King’s profit shares, approximately 10%, and the dividends would be long-term, provided you continue to represent McBao King in various big eater challenges. What do you think?”

”Dry shares” is a colloquial term, referring to shareholders who do not actually contribute capital or use labor, credit, individual names, goodwill, etc., which are not compliant with the forms of contribution prescribed by the ”Company Law” to occupy a certain proportion of the company’s shares.

Since dry share shareholders have not contributed capital verification as required by the ”Company Law”, nor are they registered in the company’s shareholder register, they are not true shareholders and do not own equity, therefore dry shares cannot be transferred.

In fact, dry shares are a company’s dividend agreement, not actual equity.

Lu Li understood what he meant, he wanted to use 10% of McBao King’s annual net profit dividends to have Lu Li promote the brand.

He had previously heard Qin Liang say that McBao King’s turnover was 500 million last year.

Calculating according to the Western fast-food industry’s net profit margin of about 2%.

A 500 million turnover would produce about 10 million in net profit.

This means, if McBao King maintains its current revenue, he could receive at least one million annually from Qin Liang.

And this is calculated at the minimum.

In fact, representing McBao King in various big eater contests could increase the brand’s fame, expand the business scope, and generate more revenue.

At that time, his 10% dry shares could earn more dividends.

For example, Wallace achieved a revenue of less than 7.2 billion in 2022, with net profits around 170 million.

If McBao King reaches this level, his 10% dry shares could mean 17 million in shared profits.

In terms of conditions, Qin Liang indeed showed great sincerity.

However, Lu Li refused without hesitation.

He shook his head and said, ”Mr. Qin, forgive me but I can’t agree to it.”

”Ah?” Qin Liang was taken aback, ”Is it because you feel my offer wasn’t good enough?”

”No,” Lu Li said honestly, ”Your offer is absolutely sincere and very tempting, it’s just that I never planned on consistently competing in big eater contests. The reason I’m entering the Nathan Hot Dog Challenge this time, to be honest, is purely by accident, and when I agreed to go to the Ugly Country for the final, I had no intention of winning, just saw it as a trip.”

Qin Liang listened with great disappointment, ”Alright, since you have no intention of joining big eater contests, I won’t force it.”

Lu Li shifted the topic, ”However...”

Qin Liang eagerly asked, ”However what?”

Lu Li smiled, ”Since Mr. Qin you’ve approached me so earnestly, I’m willing to represent McBao King in this year’s Nathan Hot Dog Challenge, and I promise you I will take the championship.”

If someone else claimed they’d surely win, Qin Liang would probably be skeptical.

After all, there are too many amazing big eaters in the world.

However, Lu Li had previously eaten 101 hot dogs in under ten minutes during the Nathan Hot Dog Challenge overseas, plus his performance at the buffet restaurant earlier today was quite astonishing.

He had enough reasons to believe Lu Li would definitely secure the championship.

Therefore, upon hearing Lu Li agree to represent McBao King, Qin Liang’s mood instantly turned ecstatic.

Qin Liang pressed on, ”Do you have any conditions? Feel free to mention them, as long as they’re reasonable, I won’t refuse.”

Lu Li said very seriously, ”I don’t require your dry shares, nor any dividend, just that you owe me a personal favor.”

Upon hearing this, Qin Liang chuckled helplessly, ”Your condition is a bit...”

Indeed, his condition seemed to be at a disadvantage.

Not needing anything, isn’t that a disadvantage?

But in fact, Lu Li understood that having the son of a billionaire owe him a favor was far more valuable than hundreds of thousands in annual dividends.

Moreover, to receive annual dividends, a major condition was that he had to participate in many big eater contests every year.

Participating occasionally might be fine, but how could Lu Li consistently do so?

To speak frankly, as he evolved daily, perhaps by this time next year he would have achieved prominence, becoming a notable figure in society, and who would want to join big eater contests like a clown?

So, after careful consideration, Lu Li came up with a compromise.

If the other party were willing to owe him a favor, in the future should he encounter difficult situations, it could be invaluable.

If he grew quickly and faced no unsolvable problems, at worst it would be making a friend.

In short, this condition was essentially insurance Lu Li purchased for himself, in case something indeed went wrong one day.

The only question was whether Qin Liang would agree.

Lu Li glanced over at him.

After pondering for a brief moment, Qin Liang suddenly raised his head and said, ”I agree to your condition!”

Lu Li smiled, ”Aren’t you going to think it over more carefully?”

”Don’t be fooled by my short contemplation, as if it’s not serious.” Qin Liang said earnestly, ”In fact, I’ve thought it through carefully. Mr. Lu, from the impression you left on me and some of your stories I’ve heard, you’re a very exceptional person, if a day comes where I help you, I believe the return would be far greater than my assistance.”

No wonder he grew up in a billionaire family, his intuition is indeed sharp, he recognized my extraordinariness.

Of course, Lu Li wouldn’t say these words out loud, he simply extended his hand and said, ”Alright, here’s to a fruitful cooperation.”

Qin Liang shook hands with him, smiling, ”To a fruitful cooperation.”

After concluding their cooperation.

Their relationship grew closer.

They sat and chatted for a while longer.

Then, Qin Liang invited Lu Li downstairs for dinner.

During this time, Lu Li checked his phone while using the restroom and found that all 2,315,000 had arrived in his account.

His cash assets soared from around 1.8 million to about 4.1 million.

Lu Li couldn’t help but feel elated, he finally had enough to buy a Porsche 911.

Most importantly, after the purchase, he would still have over a million left.
