Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

Chapter 56: Chapter 52: Recruitment

He could ”see” everything within the range that his super sense of smell could detect, whether it was inside the car or in a nearby house, he could see it all clearly.

The traffic light turned green in front.

Lu Li ended his call with Brother Cheng.

He continued driving towards the company.

After verifying the combination superpower of ”smelling pictures,” he was very excited.

This skill is truly amazing!

He could actually visualize images in his mind just by relying on his sense of smell.

Looking at it this way, he could indeed use this combination superpower to track wanted criminals.

The premise is that the wanted criminals appear within his range of smell.

...

Arriving at the company.

There is still a live stream tonight.

Having tasted the sweetness from it before, Lu Li naturally wanted to be well prepared.

Not to mention recreating the previous day’s glory, he at least couldn’t let the sales figure be too low.

So, right after the morning meeting, he pulled a few people from the project team for a small meeting.

After discussing for about half an hour, they finally determined the specific content for tonight’s live stream sales.

At noon, mealtime.

Lu Li hadn’t had the chance to step out when there was a ”knock knock” on the office door.

He thought it was a colleague inviting him to lunch and said casually, ”Come in.”

Click, the door opened from the outside.

A hearty laugh rang out, ”Haha, Deputy Manager Lu, have you eaten yet?”

Hmm?

Why is it him?

Lu Li stood up with a fake smile and said, ”Oh, it’s Vice President Du, what brings you here?”

It was indeed Vice President Du, impeccably dressed in a suit and with a half-bald head. He closed the door casually and said with a beaming smile, ”I do have a little matter. Can we sit down and chat?”

”Sure,” Lu Li pointed to the chair opposite his desk, ”Please have a seat.”

With a smile on his face, Vice President Du sat down, ”I heard you had great success with the live stream sales the night before last, so I came specifically to congratulate you.”

Lu Li said modestly, ”It’s the team’s credit.”

Who knew that with just this sentence, Vice President Du, like an elderly man in the park, opened a floodgate of conversation. He talked non-stop from congratulating the live stream success to chatting about who is the prettiest hostess in some club, and so on.

To be honest, although Lu Li was a bit hungry, he was genuinely quite interested in the topics.

For example, which sports car has good performance, how to quickly pick up girls, etc.

This old guy, like a playboy, seemed particularly adept at girl-chasing techniques.

As a young man who has almost never dated, Lu Li was nearly amazed by Vice President Du’s stories about girl-chasing tricks.

This chat lasted for over an hour.

The colleagues outside had all finished eating and returned.

”So...” Vice President Du smacked his lips and said, ”To gain a woman’s favor, you don’t necessarily need money. As long as you can win her heart, you naturally succeed.”

Lu Li gave a thumbs-up and said, ”High, Vice President Du, you are really high!”

Vice President Du waved his hand with a chuckle, ”These tricks of mine are nothing. If you’re really interested, we can go out tonight, and I’ll find you a couple of pretty foreign girls to have fun with.”

Blonde bombshells?

Lu Li’s eyes turned green and he almost agreed.

However, he immediately realized that there’s no such thing as a free lunch and knew that the other party must have conditions.

He blinked, ”Vice President Du, let’s not beat around the bush, what do you want me to do?”

”I like talking with straightforward people,” Vice President Du put away his smile and showed a serious expression, ”I know you’re quite close with Liu Kexin, you should know a little about the domestic situation. I can tell you outright, even though the Liu Group holds a majority of shares and has the operation rights, it’s not certain that Liu Kexin can hold her position for long. You may be enjoying the perks with her now, but what will you do if one day she decides to pack up and go back to the Ugly Country?”

Lu Li wasn’t sure how long Liu Kexin would stay in her position.

But he did agree with Vice President Du on one point, which is the domestic situation issue. Having relative control and operation rights doesn’t necessarily guarantee you’ll have the final say, it still depends on who really has the power in the company.

This statement seems contradictory.

Is it possible that relative control and operation rights don’t allow you to make decisions?

In fact, that’s exactly the case.

Firstly, relative control is not absolute control.

According to the company’s regulations, major company issues require more than two-thirds approval from shareholders to pass, so an individual or an entity must hold more than 67% of shares to have absolute control.

Unfortunately, the Liu Group currently only holds 53% of shares, only giving them relative control.

This means if other shareholders disagree with the general manager’s decisions during major shareholder meetings, they can vote against, thereby obstructing Liu Kexin’s commands.

Secondly, operation rights aren’t ownership rights.

The Liu Group can’t install its people in every important company position.

Many powerful departments are still controlled by the shareholders’ representatives holding authority.

If any of these powerful departments don’t cooperate in the face of some incident, even the general manager’s orders might become empty words.

For example, Vice President Du is one of the shareholders and also serves as the executive vice president of the company, holding significant power, second only to the general manager.

Yes, Vox hasn’t gone public yet, so there is no chairman set up, and the general manager is the highest position.

Lastly, there’s the social situation issue.

The Liu Group is a world-class giant, one of the top ones, but its headquarters is in the Ugly Country, making it an out-of-reach kind of situation.

If someone has a mind to take down the company, they can proceed from multiple angles.

For instance, by investigating whether there’s any violation within your company.

Obviously, Liu Kexin, being new, can’t compare to Vice President Du, who is a ”local,” in this regard.

Lu Li understood that Vice President Du wanted him to join his side.

Indeed, in the current scenario, aligning with Vice President Du seems appropriate to peacefully work in the company.

The unfortunate thing is, Lu Li does not plan to stay long in the company, which is Vice President Du’s miscalculation.

Currently, Lu Li remains in the company merely to accumulate initial funds, to learn about company operations, and to consider future directions. Who cares about balancing interests and power with you?

Lu Li pretended not to understand and said, ”If she leaves, she leaves, I’ll just do my job.”

As an executive vice president, Vice President Du was naturally not a fool. He immediately saw through Lu Li’s feigned ignorance and said meaningfully, ”Do you think that my staying in your office for so long won’t reach Liu Kexin’s ears? Then you might find yourself being an outsider from both sides.”

No wonder you were chatting about all sorts of topics earlier, trying to sow discord between President Liu and me?

Realizing he lacked social experience, Lu Li decided not to give face, ”What if she hears? It’s just a lousy job, you’re making a big deal out of nothing. I need to work now, please see yourself out.”

Vice President Du didn’t expect Lu Li to be so direct and show him the door, but he didn’t show any anger. Instead, he laughed and appeared magnanimous, ”It’s good for young people to have their own ideas. I hope you experience less hardship in your life’s journey. Alright, I’ll leave for now, but if you change your mind someday, you’re still welcome to join me.”

He looked deeply into Lu Li’s eyes and hinted, ”I believe you’ll come looking for me within a week’s time.”

After saying this, without giving Lu Li a chance to respond, Vice President Du left.

Come looking for you within a week?

Lu Li couldn’t help but chuckle, thinking to himself that if he ever had to seek him out, it would mean big trouble for Vice President Du!
