Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 436: Chapter 405: Zahar

The screen flickered on, revealing a familiar figure.

It was none other than Fatty An’s roommate, Zahar.

After hearing about Zahar’s exploits during dinner last night, Li Qian had casually asked a few questions.

He learned that Zahar’s Beast Taming Talent was an affinity for the Gold and Earth Elements, and that he was entering the Third Secret Realm this time to choose an Earth-type Pet Beast with Dominator Level Potential.

Li Qian immediately offered a suggestion, telling him to choose a Pet Beast in the Third Secret Realm called a Rock Giant.

He also revealed that the Rock Giant’s next Evolutionary Form was the Rock Sword Master, with Potential reaching the Emperor Level.

Inside the Third Secret Realm, a Cultivation Base was already researching this Evolutionary Form, and they weren’t far from success.

Zahar’s family background was relatively average.

This time, just to get a Dominator-level Pet Beast, he had already borrowed a ton of Campus Points from some upperclassmen and people from his hometown.

So, he had originally planned to only exchange for a Pet Beast with Dominator Initial Stage Potential.

Coincidentally, he also knew about the Pet Beast known as the Rock Giant.

He originally thought this type of Pet Beast didn’t exist in the Third Secret Realm.

Now, after hearing Li Qian’s suggestion, he had another option to consider.

So, early this morning, Zahar had eagerly rushed to the entrance of the Third Secret Realm.

After verifying his identity at the entrance, he entered the Secret Realm.

He would have the next twenty-four hours to choose the Pet Beast he wanted to exchange for.

Or to find a suitable Cultivation Base to evolve one of his existing Pet Beasts.

New students like him were always guided by an attendant after entering the Secret Realm.

Zahar was no exception.

His guide was an upperclassman.

Apparently, he had already graduated and was rehired by the school to work as a guide in the Secret Realm.

Don’t underestimate the role of a guide; the chance to occasionally interact with the cultivation bigwigs in the Secret Realm made it an enviable job.

The upperclassman guide introduced Zahar to some of the rules of the Secret Realm.

He then projected a screen from his smart bracelet.

This screen was connected to the exchange system of every research base within the Secret Realm.

Once connected to the network, all Pet Beasts available for exchange and those that could be evolved were displayed on the screen.

When Zahar saw the screen, he briefly familiarized himself with it before heading straight to the Earth-type Pet Beast page.

After his Spiritual Power advanced to the Commander Level, he had three Contract Positions.

He had already used the first two Contract Positions to contract two Gold Element Pet Beasts.

His Beast Taming Talent was an affinity for Gold and Earth.

Contracting either Earth Element or Gold Element Pet Beasts would give him a decent bonus.

Initially, in pursuit of ultimate combat power, he had radically chosen to contract two Gold Element Pet Beasts.

As a result, he had the combat power, but his defense and survivability became his biggest weaknesses.

His offense and defense were extremely unbalanced.

In battle, if he couldn’t quickly defeat his opponent and got dragged into a prolonged fight, he would often show signs of defeat.

His Beast Taming teacher had analyzed this for him.

And told him not to be so extreme, but to find a balance between offense and defense.

Heeding his Beast Taming teacher’s advice, he had barely rested since then.

He had been forgoing food and sleep for Meditation.

Finally, a short while ago, his Spiritual Power Level broke through to the Commander Level.

He could now contract a third Pet Beast.

He chose the Earth Element without hesitation.

The list for the Earth Element wasn’t long—only six pages in total, with each page listing ten Pet Beasts.

Zahar looked through it very carefully, clicking to view the information for almost every single Pet Beast.

Soon, he reached the last page.

In the very last selection box on the final page, he saw the Rock Giant.

He clicked to view its details and saw that its various Skill configurations perfectly matched his requirements.

And he recalled what Li Qian had said last night.

The Rock Giant had a future Evolutionary Form: the Rock Sword Master.

So, with almost no hesitation, the Rock Giant became one of his candidates—in fact, the most important one.

Besides the Rock Giant, Zahar also picked two other targets.

After making his selections, he headed straight for the research bases behind these three targets.

After observing his first choice for about half an hour, he arrived outside the Jade Research Base.

Which led to the scene from just now.

The figure Feifei had projected on the light screen was, in fact, Zahar.

”Go meet this old friend!” Li Qian said to Feifei with a smile.

The ”old friend” he mentioned... didn’t actually mean someone he’d known for a long time, but rather a friend who looked old...

If Zahar knew what he was thinking, he wouldn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

’How did a fellow student from the same year suddenly become an ”old friend”?!’

Li Qian slowly walked out of the Cultivation Base and saw Zahar right at the entrance.

Zahar saw Li Qian as well, a look of astonishment on his face.

But he quickly came to his senses.

Last night, after returning to his dorm, he had been wondering how Li Qian knew about things inside the Third Secret Realm.

Now, the mystery was solved. The proof was undeniable.

’So he’s an intern at this Cultivation Base.’

’And the Rock Giant must be a Pet Beast developed by his mentor.’

’No wonder he knew about it.’

”Li Qian, you really kept me in the dark! I can’t believe you’re interning here!” Seeing Li Qian, Zahar froze for a moment but quickly recovered, striding forward and patting him on the shoulder.

”Interning?”

Hearing this, a faint smile touched Li Qian’s lips, but he didn’t say anything more.

He gestured with his hand, welcoming Zahar into the research base.

This was Zahar’s first time in the Third Secret Realm.

And, of course, his first time in a research base.

So, like a kid in a candy store, he looked every which way, touching things here and there, curious about everything.

”Bro, you’ve got skills! I can’t believe you managed to get into the Third Secret Realm to intern here!” Zahar laughed heartily.

”It’s alright,” Li Qian replied perfunctorily, offering no explanation.

”Huh? Why aren’t there many Pet Beasts in this research base?” After wandering around for a bit, Zahar asked, puzzled.

Li Qian looked at Zahar. ”You’re wondering why you haven’t seen any Rock Giants, right?”

Li Qian could read Zahar’s thoughts like an open book.

So he directly voiced what the guy was thinking.

”Heh heh...” His thoughts exposed by Li Qian, Zahar gave a sheepish laugh and scratched his head in embarrassment.

”In the Secret Realm, the Pet Beasts are free-range. The research base is only so big; we can’t keep that many of them penned up.”

Li Qian explained casually, then instructed Feifei, ”Feifei, take him to Rock Giants One, Two, and Three.”

Hearing this, Feifei’s eyes darted, and it shot out a screen of light.

On the light screen, five red dots were clearly visible, glowing faintly and moving from time to time.

Without a doubt, these five red dots were the locations of the three Rock Giants and the two Four-tailed Cats.
