Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 411: Chapter 381: Wen Saint

In the end, Li Qian went with Congming Mountain.

They rode his Cloud Immortal Beast, flying toward Mo Yuan City.

Congming Mountain had been right about one thing: it would be more dangerous for Lu Tianjiao and the others to follow him right now.

As for helping, that was something he couldn’t refuse.

Never mind that he was a student at Shazhou Beast Taming University. Just last time, Congming Mountain had risked his life to shield them from the Skeleton Monarch, the Yanming Bie, and hundreds of thousands of Undead Pet Beasts. A debt of gratitude like that had to be remembered—and repaid.

The Cloud Immortal Beast flew at a gallop. As an Emperor Level Pet Beast, its speed was far beyond anything Qizai could match.

Fortunately, Congming Mountain’s watch had a function that could generate an Energy Shield, sparing them from the harsh, biting winds.

Within the Energy Shield, Li Qian spoke up. ”Dean Cong, why are we in such a hurry to get back to Mo Yuan City? What’s going on?”

”This whole situation is... quite complicated.”

After a moment’s deliberation, Congming Mountain continued, ”I believe you’ve probably already noticed a few things...”

Li Qian nodded but didn’t reply.

He had indeed noticed a few things.

But they were just guesses, none of which had been confirmed.

”Actually, the purpose of this freshman challenge wasn’t just to test the new students and select outstanding talents.”

Dean Cong’s tone was complex. ”There was another objective: to lure some Cult Organizations into actively attacking us.”

”So, in other words, we freshmen were all just bait?” Li Qian’s voice held a note of displeasure.

His reaction was perfectly normal.

After all, anyone who found out they were merely bait to lure a snake from its hole wouldn’t be in a good mood.

Especially since they had encountered considerable danger in the process of being that bait.

That alone was enough to show that the plan might have gone wrong.

As it turned out, his guess was correct.

Congming Mountain’s next words confirmed it. ”Our intended targets for this ambush were the Black Divine Teachings and the God-Worshiping Sect. We had made extremely thorough preparations for it.”

”Besides hidden personnel like myself, we also had some upperclassmen mixed in with the freshman competition. All of them had reached Dominator Level in terms of power.”

”Logically, with such a setup, whether it was the Black Divine Teachings or the God-Worshiping Sect, any Cultists who dared to show themselves would have been met with a devastating, lightning-fast strike from us.”

”And in fact, we did manage to eliminate some of the Cultists. But what we didn’t expect was for the Blood Demon Sect to get involved.”

”They used Blood Spirit Gu to control numerous freshmen and Adventurers. Once controlled, these students and Adventurers charged at the vanguard, forcing our hand and making us hesitate to strike for fear of harming our own.”

”Now, all the cities and outposts in the Mo Yuan City region, as well as some freshman and Adventurer teams, are under attack. We’re in dire need of Light and Life Element Pet Beasts, so...”

Congming Mountain trailed off, but Li Qian already understood exactly what he meant.

Li Qian smiled and pointed at his own nose. ”So, you need me to evolve more Life and Light Element Pet Beasts.”

”And since they had you come find me, Dean Cong, I assume they’ve already done their homework and know that besides the Sunbird, I can also evolve the Tidal Sea Spirit, which possesses the Life Element...”

”Yes.” Congming Mountain nodded, not denying it.

”Fine, I can help with that,” Li Qian said.

In reality, it wasn’t like he had a choice.

When he had agreed to leave with Congming Mountain, he had, in fact, already made his decision.

Seeing Li Qian agree, Congming Mountain still felt a little worried.

He spoke again, explaining, ”Student Li Qian, I hope you won’t hold this against us.”

”What happened this time was indeed our mistake. We didn’t anticipate the Blood Demon Sect’s appearance.”

”But the decision itself wasn’t wrong. We are this desperate because we were forced into it.”

”The rate at which the Dimension Plane and the real world are merging is accelerating. We estimate that in a century at most—perhaps not even that long—the two worlds will completely converge. When that happens, it will be an unprecedented disaster for humanity.”

”That’s why we must drag these rats out of their shadowy holes before that disaster arrives.”

”Otherwise, when the time comes, if we let them hold us back, our situation will become even more difficult.”

Li Qian listened and nodded in agreement.

’They wouldn’t have gambled with the lives of freshmen unless they had no other choice.’

”Besides, the University Alliance does have other cards to play. It’s just... not convenient to deploy them at this time.”

The Cloud Immortal Beast was incredibly fast, flying nonstop. They returned to Mo Yuan City just before dawn.

Looking down at the ancient and elegant city below, Li Qian felt a wave of emotion.

It was clear that Mo Yuan City had also experienced an upheaval. The city was dotted with ruins—the scars of battle.

”Looks like the Cult Organizations made a big move this time.” The Cloud Immortal Beast landed in Mo Yuan City, and Li Qian muttered to himself as he scanned the cityscape.

”Perhaps they were turning our own plan against us,” Congming Mountain said after a moment’s silence, his voice tinged with resignation.

The two chatted as they walked, and it wasn’t long before they arrived at the Garrison Mansion. Inside one of its reception halls, Li Qian saw a man with long hair.

’He looks like he’s the one in charge of Mo Yuan City—or at least, one of the people in charge.’

He gave a brief introduction, then spoke, his tone earnest. ”Student Li Qian, this time, we need your help.”

”I trust Dean Cong has already explained the situation to you on the way here.”

Li Qian nodded. ”Wen Saint, I will do everything in my power.”

Li Qian had heard Dean Cong address the long-haired man as ”Wen Saint,” so he followed suit with the honorific.

’This honorific suggests that this man isn’t the true person in charge of Mo Yuan City.’

His Power Level was Saint Spirit Level, and from what Li Qian understood, a city like Mo Yuan City would surely be guarded by a Legendary Level expert.

’I just don’t know where that Legendary senior is. With something this major happening, why haven’t they appeared yet?’

’Or perhaps, they’re tied down somewhere and can’t get away.’

Given the urgency, the three didn’t talk for long. Soon, a Guardian Envoy led Li Qian to a familiar place.

The venue for the freshman challenge’s cultivation competition!

To be more precise, a Cultivation Room within the venue.

This was where Li Qian would be working—or, more accurately, where he would be helping out.

As for Dean Cong, a top-tier fighter like him couldn’t be wasted here at a time like this.

After leaving the Garrison Mansion, he had once again taken to the skies to rescue more students.

After Dean Cong’s departure, the Guardian Envoy who had brought Li Qian here immediately ordered the guards standing by, ”From now on, no matter what happens, you will ensure the safety of this place, even if it costs you your lives!”

Hearing this, the guards’ expressions grew resolute. ”We will defend the Cultivation Room to the death!”
