Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 433: Chapter 402: Unexpected Task Progress

After Dean Pan Bing and Principal Park Ji Yong left, Li Qian wasted no time and immediately created a third task.

[Evolution Method: Sunbird to Three-legged Golden Crow]

The moment the task was established, Li Qian focused his attention on its progress.

[Task Three: Evolution Method: Sunbird to Three-legged Golden Crow. Current Progress: 99%]

After all, he had already evolved one Three-legged Golden Crow. Li Qian was familiar with most of the steps and knew all the Evolution Materials, so it was only natural for the progress to be so high.

’The task progress might even jump straight to one hundred percent,’ Li Qian had thought.

But seeing it now, it was close enough.

Ninety-nine percent!

In other words, only one final detail was missing.

Even if it took some grinding, patient effort, Li Qian was confident he could figure out that last detail.

If all else failed, he could use Achievement Points to make up the difference.

He had ten Achievement Points anyway, which would certainly be enough.

But he wouldn’t do that unless it was an absolute last resort.

Being just shy of the goal was only one reason.

There was another, very important reason: if he could complete the evolution task for a Legendary Pet Beast on his own, the Achievement Points reward would be substantial.

Li Qian wasn’t about to miss out on those Achievement Points.

An opportunity like this wouldn’t come around again anytime soon.

After all, strictly speaking, random chance had played an undeniable role in successfully evolving the Sunbird into a Three-legged Golden Crow this time.

He couldn’t count on being so lucky next time.

With the task established, Li Qian began to ponder.

’Where exactly is this final flaw?’

’Or... what did I overlook?’

’There must be some detail I haven’t considered...’

After a moment of thought, something actually occurred to him.

’For a Red Feather Chicken or Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken in its third Nirvana, the Evolution Materials required are four times the normal amount... So what about the first and second Nirvana?’

’Would they also require more materials?’

As Li Qian considered this, he didn’t hold out much hope for the detail he had just thought of.

After all, based on past experience, this final flaw was often something tricky. For example, the requirement of ”willingness” during the Tidal Sea Spirit’s evolution—who would have ever thought of a condition like that? So this time, Li Qian instinctively felt it wouldn’t be so simple.

However, pleasant surprises often arrive when least expected.

Just as Li Qian was lost in thought, an electronic notification sound suddenly echoed in his mind.

[Inspiration Value +1. Task Three: Evolution Method: Sunbird to Three-legged Golden Crow. Current Progress: 100%!]

The notification was so completely unexpected that Li Qian jumped when he heard it.

Once he fully processed what had just happened, a wave of ecstasy washed over him.

’It’s done? Just like that?!’

Li Qian could hardly believe it!

’Something I thought would trouble me for ages was just completed so effortlessly?!’

Overcome with elation and excitement, Li Qian immediately submitted the task.

[Task Three: Evolution Method: Sunbird to Three-legged Golden Crow submitted successfully. Reward: 10 Achievement Points.]

Submitting the task had earned him ten Achievement Points, bringing his total to twenty. This, at least, was within his expectations.

After all, even among Legendary Pet Beasts, the Three-legged Golden Crow was a creature of exceptionally high Potential. A reward like this was hardly an exaggeration.

Following the notification came the familiar infusion of knowledge.

This time, perhaps because it involved a Legendary Pet Beast, the infusion took an exceptionally long time.

It took nearly half an hour for Li Qian to emerge from the state of infusion.

After absorbing all the infused knowledge, Li Qian couldn’t help but sigh in his heart at his own good fortune.

’My success with this evolution really did depend on a lot of coincidences and luck.’

If he had to do it all over again, he wasn’t sure he could pull it off.

Without this knowledge infusion, he would have only known the general outline of many details.

First was the evolution from Red Feather Chicken to Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken. Just as he’d suspected, it required two stalks of Fire Cloud Grass for the first Nirvana and three for the second.

This stage didn’t have many other crucial details.

But the second stage, the evolution from Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken to Sunbird, had far more details to consider.

With every Nirvana, an extra portion of Evolution Materials was needed.

Furthermore, the power of the Ignition had to be progressively increased.

This showed that Li Qian’s decision to use Blazing Burning directly, rather than Flame Spray, had been an incredibly wise one.

Finally, there was the principle of striking in one go, as a second attempt brings decline, and a third, exhaustion.

This stage was most likely to succeed if initiated immediately after the Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken finished its evolution.

If delayed until the Energy within the Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken passed its active phase and began to settle, the success rate would drop significantly.

And finally, the third stage: the evolution from Sunbird into the complete form of the Three-legged Golden Crow.

Strictly speaking, this stage was directly connected to the second.

This stage had the most details of all.

Three points were the most critical.

First, the timing for adding the three Feathers. They couldn’t be added one by one; they had to be thrown in all at once, in a single burst of effort.

Second was the remnant soul devouring stage.

This remnant soul had to be of the Legendary Level.

Moreover, it had to be in a weakened or bound state.

Otherwise, it might turn the tables and possess the body of the Three-legged Golden Crow.

A Three-legged Golden Crow in the middle of evolution is actually quite vulnerable.

After sorting through all the infused knowledge, Li Qian nodded in satisfaction.

Now that he had completely mastered the evolution method, Li Qian was one hundred percent confident he could help Dean Pan Bing evolve a Three-legged Golden Crow, as long as the preparations were done right.

After absorbing all the infused knowledge, Li Qian closed his eyes to rest and waited quietly.

Before long, a formidable Spiritual Power suddenly surged from somewhere within Li Qian’s body, rushing straight to the top of his skull before converging in his Mud Ball Palace.

Li Qian could feel the sound of small realm barriers shattering, and it happened several times in a row.

After the sensation faded, Li Qian began to carefully sense his new state, and an irrepressible smile spread across his face.

The feedback from this evolution was incredibly generous.

It had boosted his Spiritual Power directly from the entry-level of the Commander realm to Commander Fourth Rank, which was the Mid-Tier Commander realm.

Meanwhile, as Li Qian was reveling in his soaring Spiritual Power... elsewhere, Principal Park Ji Yong and Dean Pan Bing were in the middle of a discussion.

”Dean Pan, I’ll leave this matter in your hands.”

Principal Park instructed, ”After this, there’s a high chance that student Li Qian has been placed on the kill list of those Cult Organizations.”

”We can guarantee his safety one hundred percent here at the school, but we can’t neglect his family.”

”The Cult Organizations will likely try to use them as leverage. I know the Public Security Bureau already has people protecting them in secret, but to be absolutely certain, you need to assign people to keep an eye on things as well. We can’t afford a single slip-up.”

”Rest assured, I’ve already arranged for it. I even gave them a few aces up their sleeve. There definitely won’t be any problems!” Dean Pan Bing said, full of confidence.

This matter directly concerned his ability to quickly increase his combat power after reaching the Legendary Level; he didn’t dare be the slightest bit careless.
