Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 431: Chapter 400: A Huge Windfall

After a moment of thought, Li Qian cleared his mind and fell into a deep sleep.

He still had two days left of the special break the university had granted him, so the next day, he skipped class and went to the Third Secret Realm instead.

As soon as he entered the Jade Research Base, the intelligent robot assistant, Feifei, flew over, speaking in a sweet, childlike voice.

It was clear that Feifei was the happiest to see Li Qian return. The Jade Research Base had been deserted for a long time, and the robot had likely grown lonely as the sole mechanical lifeform, desperate for company.

Of course, things were much better now than before. After all, even when Li Qian wasn’t around, some of his Pet Beasts would stay here.

Li Qian asked Feifei about the three Rock Giants and two Four-tailed Cats. They were doing well inside the research base and had started to integrate into the local environment.

It seemed they had also befriended some of the Pet Beasts from other research bases.

After checking on the situation, Li Qian released Chicken Hair, Caiyun, Qizai, and Xiaoliu.

The moment they were out, Chicken Hair and Caiyun, who were visiting the Cultivation Base for the first time, grew incredibly excited and started frolicking about.

Feeling a bit full of itself after its evolution, Chicken Hair shot straight up into the sky, letting out a series of sharp cries.

But its cries didn’t last long. Soon, it timidly and obediently descended back to the ground.

Li Qian chuckled at the sight. ’This isn’t like the outside world. Here in the Third Secret Realm, you have to follow the rules. No messing around is allowed.’

Judging by Chicken Hair’s reaction, it must have just been warned, which was why it was acting so timidly.

’It seems there really is an incredibly terrifying Pet Beast in this Secret Realm. It must be the Guardian God of this place.’

Li Qian guessed that it was most likely a Legendary Level Pet Beast. Only its overwhelming presence could keep all the Pet Beasts in the Secret Realm in line.

As Chicken Hair obediently landed, Caiyun immediately fluttered over, its eyes filled with little stars, practically overflowing with admiration.

Of course, Li Qian could see that besides admiration, there was also deep envy in its eyes. This sparked an idea in his mind.

Recalling the events of the recent freshman challenge and considering the case of the Xiahou Monarch, he was now almost certain... the Bai Yuan was, in all likelihood, the next evolutionary form of the Silver Crowned Red Feather Chicken.

’A Pet Beast of the Spiritual and Demon Spirit Elements... its Potential would definitely be on par with the Sunbird. The only problem now is... how to evolve it?’

Based on the evolution method for the Golden Crowned Red Feather Chicken into the Sunbird, it was likely that the Silver Crowned Red Feather Chicken also required two types of rare Extraordinary Resources.

These two rare Extraordinary Resources would have to be of the Spiritual and Demon Spirit Elements, but figuring out which specific two wouldn’t be so easy.

’Of course, it’s also possible that it doesn’t evolve through two rare Extraordinary Resources, but uses a different method entirely.’

Thinking of this, Li Qian didn’t hesitate and immediately created a new research task: [Evolution Method of the Silver Crowned Red Feather Chicken].

Previously, after completing the research on the evolution methods for the Rock Monster and the Red Feather Chicken, Li Qian’s task list only had the Five-tailed Cat evolution task remaining.

His task list now had an open slot, so he didn’t need to think twice about creating a new one.

After creating it, Li Qian took a look. [Task 1: Evolution Method of the Silver Crowned Red Feather Chicken], [Current Progress: 93%].

Seeing that the progress was slightly higher than it had been for the Red Feather Chicken, Li Qian felt a sense of relief.

Logically, the progress for the Silver Crowned Red Feather Chicken’s evolution task should have been identical to the initial progress for the Red Feather Chicken’s task.

It should have been at 92%, but now, the progress had increased by a point, reaching 93%.

This proved one thing: his earlier speculation was correct, and that very speculation had pushed the Progress Value up by a point.

In that case, all that was left to complete this research task was to identify the two rare Extraordinary Resources and... figure out the ”Ignition” method.

The Sunbird’s evolution method involved a direct attack with a Fire Skill. The Bai Yuan’s evolution would surely be different, so this aspect would likely take a considerable amount of time to research.

Li Qian wasn’t in a hurry. After completing the freshman challenge, he had nothing urgent on his plate. He had plenty of time.

He busied himself around the base for a while. It felt a bit empty, so he decided it needed more Pet Beasts. He went directly to the Pet Beast Mall online and placed an order for a batch of them.

He mainly bought Pet Beasts whose evolution methods he had already mastered, including the Koi Carp, Red Feather Chicken, One-tailed Cat, Rock Monster, Gray Bean Dove, and Pearl Bud.

He was going to be staying here for the next four years, possibly even longer, so it was necessary to develop the base properly.

It would also add some life and vitality to the research base.

Just like that, he spent nearly a hundred million Federation Coins, but Li Qian didn’t feel the slightest pinch.

The quantity he purchased was substantial—over five hundred Pet Beasts in total. And that was after focusing mainly on high-Potential Pet Beasts; otherwise, the cost would have been even lower.

For the current Li Qian, spending nearly one hundred million Federation Coins was just a drop in the bucket.

Thanks to his efforts during the freshman challenge, Mo Yuan City had avoided significant losses, and the organizing committee had given him an extremely generous reward.

The amount of Federation Coins and Federal Contribution Points was similar to what the Xiahou Family had given him, but the University Points were five times greater.

In addition to that, Dean Long Jue of Kansai Beast Taming University had sent him a list filled with Evolution Materials and research equipment.

Li Qian didn’t hold back, directly selecting around a hundred items that he could mostly make use of.

Although the Evolution Materials and research equipment hadn’t arrived yet, just looking at the number of Federation Coins in his bank account was enough to make him feel quite satisfied.

This time, he had really hit the jackpot.

After a busy morning, he had Feifei order lunch from the Secret Realm’s cafeteria and deliver it. Li Qian then ate right there in the Secret Realm.

When Li Qian first found out there was a cafeteria in the Secret Realm, he was quite stunned, but that feeling quickly turned to delight.

The university’s logistics department was very thorough. This way, he wouldn’t have to leave the Secret Realm for meals while he was doing research.

Most importantly, the food here was provided for free. That was the part Li Qian liked best. ’Free stuff is always the best.’

After lunch, Li Qian put on his VR glasses and pulled up a book on cultivation to read.

The Xiahou Family had given Li Qian a copy of all their cultivation-related books and materials, which would keep him busy reading for a long time.

Of course, whether it was truly ”all” of their materials was impossible to know. If they had secretly held some back, Li Qian would be none the wiser.

But as far as Li Qian was concerned, having this much material was more than enough to satisfy him.
