Epic Of Caterpillar

Chapter 2894 - 2895: Izanamiʼs Rebirth

-----

”Itʼs working...! Itʼs working...! Hahaha!”

Takai Shinji laughed wildly and celebrated as the Gate began to tremble. Black miasma poured downward, warping space, darkening and corrupting everything it touched.

As the door opened wider, something emerged from within: two enormous hands made of shadows, pushing the gate even further.

A dark presence revealed itself through crimson eyes glowing amid the blackness. The Oni werenʼt sure if this was truly Shuten Doji or something else entirely.

The glorious and domineering king of all oni... could this terrifying thing be him?

Black lightning surged from the gate, striking Sadako and injecting words, power, and searing pain into her body.

”Uuugh!”

She dropped to her knees, her soul quaking in agony.

It was unbearable.

But she knew.

She knew.

This was all she could do for her tribe.

Tears streamed down her face.

Perhaps in another timeline she could have found a happier ending, if she had met a certain young man.

But Sadako had no one else but these people, and she could not bear to disappoint them.

”Please, Ancestor... I offer you my body. Use it as your Vessel. Ascend upon my flesh from the depths of Purgatory and be... reborn again!”

As she recited the mantra, the entire formation shuddered. The gates to Yomi widened further. A giant hand rushed toward her, a red eye opening in its palm.

Sadako knew this was her end.

She closed her eyes and accepted her fate.

BOOOM!

Yet the fate of people can be altered by others who possess a powerful enough destiny.

When the explosion rang out, Sadako found herself still within her own body.

”What?”

The blast had come from a giant, glowing sword forged of light and darkness. It had pierced the formation, cleaving it in two.

”?!”

Her eyes widened as she saw the newcomer—someone she had never met before.

But someone who had come to change her fate, even if unknowingly.

”W-Who are you!?”

”Whatʼs going on?”

”H-Humans!”

”They found out we hid here!”

The Oni panicked around Kireina, but the fairy goddess remained completely unfazed by their cries.

She ignored them and walked straight toward the shrine with the statues.

One statue among them shook violently, small cracks spreading across its surface.

Yet it could not unseal its true power.

”W-Who are you?!”

Sadako rushed forward to confront her as she noticed Kireina ignoring both her and her family.

At the same time, Takai Shinji panicked but kept his composure. Using his space magic, he swiftly dragged dozens of nearby Oni into position.

”If sheʼs not here, the formation will be disrupted! Become the vessels of Izanami-sama!”

”I-Izanami?!”

The Oni were stunned to hear that name. The Goddess of Yomi was not even Shuten Doji.

Takai Shinji had deceived them. That dark being was not their King!

”Tsk! Enough!”

He roared, unable to contain his excitement and desperation. The Dark Queen of Yomi stood right before him.

After eons of working with the Oni to achieve this moment, he would not back down now!

The Oni screamed as they fell into the formation. At the same moment, Kireina touched the statue shaped like her son.

”Son! I am here...! Ryo!”

As she called to him and poured her Heart Essence into the stone, the statue trembled harder. More and more cracks spread across it.

”W-What are you doing with my ancestorʼs statue?!”

Sadako confronted her, grabbing Kireinaʼs arm.

Kireina glanced back with sharp eyes and shook her head.

”He is not your ancestor. Thatʼs my son!”

”...WHAT?!”

While all this unfolded, the ground shook within the Corrupted Domain. A group of schoolgirls arrived just in time, having escaped the dungeon using the password Kireina had given them.

With Brontesʼ Thunderous Hammer, Nesiphaeʼs Four Cursed Axes, Zeheʼs Void Abyss Magic, Rimuruʼs Rainbow Nirvana Spirit Sword combined with her Multi-Elemental Magic, and Lilithʼs Earth Dragonʼs Fury, they shattered the dimensional walls.

”Kireina, weʼre here!”

Zehe called out quickly. Kireina responded with her Aura. The sorceress wasted no time, teleporting through the void and reaching her side.

”Ryo! Itʼs me! Itʼs me, your mother! Ryoooo!”

Zehe cried out for Ryo through tears, infusing her Magic into his statue alongside Kireinaʼs power.

Together they tried to awaken his Soul. The statue cracked further.

Blinding light poured from the fissures.

At that moment, Sadako heard the screams of her people.

”W-Wha...? Ah...! Aaahhhh!”

She screamed in horror at the sight. Everyone she had tried so desperately to protect was melting into a writhing mass of red flesh, blood, and bones.

Black hands constantly grasped the flesh, molding it into a body for Her to emerge into the World of the Living.

”More...! More sacrifices! MORE! IZANAMI DEMANDS MORE!”

Takai Shinji descended into complete madness, revealing his true face to Sadako, who despaired.

”Stop...! STOP!”

She charged at him, swinging her small fists. Her Aura manifested as a blazing titan—something she had never achieved before, awakened only now after being halfway through the ritual.

BOOOM!

An explosion of flames struck Takai Shinji. His Spatial Magic shielded him, but the force hurled him away, crashing into one of the giant bones of Shuten Doji.

”Sadako-sama!!!”

”Sakura?!”

Sadako saw her only friend, Sakura, slowly melting into the pool of blood and flesh. She ran to her, grabbing her hand and trying to lift her as she sank.

But when she pulled...

Only the arm remained.

”A-Ah...! AAAAAHHHH!”

Sadako screamed as she clutched her friendʼs severed arm. The pond of flesh, blood, and bones began to pulse violently.

The black hands shaped a body: a tall hybrid between Oni and human, a Demoness with pale white skin, black horns, crimson eyes, and long black hair like the night.

Countless red tattoos covered her fair form, towering over four meters tall.

In horror, Sadako watched what Takai Shinji had created—and lost her only friend.

”Admire her eternal beauty! This is one of the great gods of creation, who died after giving birth to her husbandʼs child and fell into Yomi for eternity! With her by our side, we will finally be truly invincible! Hahaha!”

The black hands melted into miasma and flowed into the body. An ancient, primordial, divine yet corrupted deityʼs soul entered the newly sculpted vessel.

FLUOSH!

Eternal darkness erupted from her, spreading in every direction at once. From that darkness came endless ghosts, specters, yokai, and countless other monsters.

”I planned for you to become her vessel, but oh well, this will do just fine...”

Takai Shinji laughed, glaring down at Sadako from above while floating on a Spatial Platform.

Izanami opened her four crimson eyes, which wept black tears.

From those tears, unspeakable horrors were born endlessly, screaming and writhing on the ground.

”Y-You...! Takai Shinji! HOW...! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO US?!”

”Heh, why are you upset?! Dumb child!”

As Takai Shinji laughed and mocked her, Sadako lay on the ground, powerless to fight back, powerless to change anything...

The giantess slowly approached Sadako, eternal darkness engulfing her.
