Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Wave after wave of plate-sized baby Wolfspiders were culled en masse under the carpet bombardment Sorcerer’s element-activated creatures and area-of-effect magic spells. Some of them burst into several pieces while others flipped over in agony after getting swept by an energy wave. Their legs curled up, marking the premature end of a life cycle.

These simple lifeforms posed no threat even in great numbers.

Pew! Pew! Pew!

Grimm cast another three using his Sabbatic Goat Staff. The fire bats that could almost be mistaken for real ones, flapped their wings toward the baby Wolfspiders that poured out from their burrow.

As long as the battle was not protracted warfare like that happened in Shadow World, Grimm had the confidence to continue fighting using his fifty percent mana-saving Sabbatic Goat Staff and two sets of lower-tier demon-hunting equipment that he prepared for this expedition.

Three shock waves following the fiery explosions of his Fire Bat Spell, each measuring at roughly two meters, burned some spiderlings into cinder while leaving a great number roasted.

“Incoming!”

Alas, Thought Echo struck again.

Grimm could not help feeling a little uneasy in his Wild Instinct Metamorphosis form, but he was able to keep fighting. He could still take it.

Unfortunately, besides the other two Level-2 Sorcerers and Nairo who enjoyed the luxury of double protection from two sorcerer barriers, the rest of the Demon-Hunters had to endure being critically harmed by the spell despite early warning.

Many of them rested on their staff and covered their ears. Their every muscle tensed. The look on their faces was enough to describe the extremity that they were going through.

Receiving the full blow of the attack, they tried to hold it to prevent the inevitable. To those clueless eyes, they looked like procrastinating apprentices about to fall asleep while holding onto their staff.

Some could even be likened to drunkards as their bodies swung back and forth.

As the affected Demon-Hunters started to hallucinate, their mental control over the summoned element-activated creatures loosened.

“Cock-a-doodle-doo!”

Out of nowhere, a long cry similar to a rooster crowing at dawn from the Sorcerer World snapped them out of delusion.

The source turned out to be from Saris. The rooster on her zodiac table raised its head and let out a long crow. It was so soothing that the Demon-Hunters under the effect of the Thought Echo were instantly cured of their hallucinations and their visions went back to normal.

The elemental-activated creatures summoned by them also started to stabilize, preventing them from despawning.

Besides feeling a little chilled, the Demon-Hunters who were aware that they were once again attacked by the Thought Echo brandished their staff in rage, casting multiple strange spells.

It was then an old sorcerer who did not act his age started to emit purplish gases. Sorcery tattoos moved all over his transparent body. Elemental oscillation took place in a manner that Grimm could not comprehend.

Bang!

The veteran sorcerer cast an elemental spell by the swing of his mighty big staff without much effort. The one-meter long destructive spell was sent flying thirty meters away. Mass scale of Wolfspiders that were caught in the path exploded into tiny pieces.

“Take this! Corrosive Blood! ”

The pale-skinned Demon-Hunter from Grimm’s squad opened his mouth widely. From between his two sharp fangs, he spat out a stream of dark red blood.

The foul-smelling blood took the shape of a snake and quickly slithered across the battlefield. Any Wolfspider that was caught by it was instantly corroded. Even those spiderlings that were in the vicinity were severely weakened and made short work by the nearby element activated creatures.

Pew, pew, pew, pew…

The Demon-Hunters pushed back the baby Wolfspiders without disturbance of the Thought Echo. Merely twenty adult Wolfspiders and thousands of its offsprings had no chance against the fourteen-man strong Demon-Hunters.

Ka-chak!

Suddenly, with the tightening of a ten-meter-long pincer, an adult Wolfspider was split into half! Apparently, it was impatient and rushed into battle when their hallucination tactic failed.

“Thousand-eyed Carcinus, take care of all the adult Wolfspiders!” Grimm shouted.

Grimm and his comrades continued to instruct the element-activated creatures, casting several elemental spells here and there and steadily advanced.

With the support of both alarm rooster and double elemental protection from Nairo and two other Rank-2 Demon-Hunters, they were able to keep fighting at full strength. The victory was guaranteed.

This reminded Grimm of the Bright Sorcerers.

The mutual support between the two teams of Dark Sorcerers was the battle tactic of Bright Sorcerers.

The simple supportive actions created an impressive synergy that multiplied their fighting capabilities. One could almost imagine what the Bright Sorcerers could do with their highly trained and disciplined members.

“Yes, Master.”

Responding to Grimm’s command, the Thousand-eyed Carcinus emitted hundreds of red beams at the baby Wolfspiders from its many eyes on its torso. The affected baby Wolfspiders stood still for a moment, then started attacking each other.

In an instant, the Wolfspiders that were pouring in became chaotic.

After this prolonged battle, the Wolfspiders that once outnumbered the Demon-Hunters by thousands had lost its advantage in number, and the ability to turn the tide of battle.

Bang! Bang!

Thousand-eyed Carcinus stood up. Its massive body was fifteen meters tall and thirty meters long from side to side. Not to mention its huge pair of pincers and brownish red-colored hairy back.

It juxtaposed with the largest and adult Wolfspider that was just standing at three meters.

Boing!

The difference in size did not stop the adult Wolfspider’s ferocious nature to pounce onto Thousand-eyed Carcinus’ body. Its jaw wide-opened, ready to deliver a nasty bite.

Clap!

Thousand-eyed Carcinus immediately swept it away with its mighty big pincers. When the dust settled, the almost unrecognizable carcass of Wolfspider was oozing goo on the ground.

Looking at the chaotic situation among the baby Wolfspiders, Grimm took advantage of the height and dove toward his target. The Sabbatic Goat Staff in his hands transformed into Goat Horn Hammer. With a firm grip on the handle of his weapon, he swung as hard as he could!

A two-meter-long adult Wolfspider noticed Grimm and launched itself into the air to counter him in mere nano-seconds. The massive creature was so quick that it looked like it had warped. One could only imagine the strength of its legs!

Piak!

The moment the Goat Horn Hammer made contact with the adult Wolfspider’s hard chitinous shell, a high-intensity shock wave was generated. The Wolfspider stopped mid-air like time itself was stopped.

Just when everyone thought that it was going to hit the ground with a heavy thud, the carcass fell down softly like a feather.

Upon closer examination, a twenty-centimeter-round wound formed at the point of impact. Its internal organs and chitin were shattered by the high-intensity shockwave and turned into powder and juice.

Drip…Drip… Drip…

The carcass was dripping liquid before it reached the ground.

Unexpectedly…

When the dead Wolfspider hit the ground that was supposed to be rock-hard, it swirled up some sand. Apparently, the ground was also shattered by the high-intensity shockwave, and ground into fine sand and mineral ashes.

Those who witnessed this scene, including Grimm’s squad and the two Rank-2 Demon-Hunters were impressed.

The Sabbatic Goat Staff could be used as both a ranged weapon and close-combat weapon?

That was unbelievably overpowered!

Perhaps Grimm was a Demon-Hunter with mastery in alchemy?

***

The entire battle lasted for merely ten minutes. The plate-sized Wolfspiders carcasses were everywhere as far as the eye could see. The traces of the earlier violent battle was still fresh.

Everyone followed the trail through the self-imploded Wolfspider Web with caution and a tinge of curiosity. Into the Wolfspider Burrow they went.
