Chapter 327: The Burrow I

At the entrance to the burrow that seemed more than a hundred meters wide, several Prism Fortresses that were built in a rush were shining, gathering strong energy fluctuations.

Hundreds of soul slaves surrounded the Prism Fortresses. They came in various shapes, but most looked vicious. They were all laid back, either lying on the ground, or eating the dead creatures and plants of the Burrow World.

As the icy cold wind blew, these tough creatures looked as if they were not affected by the freezing temperature at all.

Those soul slaves who could not adapt to the cold environment had long entered the belly of other slave monsters as their energy supply to survive.

Roar!

Several soul slaves lying lazily on the snow ground suddenly raised their heads. After a few roars, they rolled on the floor and continued to lie lazily on the ice-covered ground.

It seemed that these short roars were the way these simple-minded soul slaves showed their submission to the sorcerers.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…

Four Level-2 Demon-Hunters and a Thousand-eyed Carcinus carrying ten Level-1 sorcerers flew into burrow entrance that was protected by the Prism Fortresses, and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

As for the soul slaves, they were only part of the world’s background in the eyes of the Demon-Hunters.

With the exception of new Demon-Hunters, no Demon-Hunters would bother to pay more attention to them.

…

Thousand-eyed Carcinus followed the four Level-2 Demon-Hunters from behind.

This entrance to the Burrow was quite wide. After all, it was a passage to the Burrow’s core that was personally opened by Black Isotta and many other Demon-Hunters, certainly the passage wouldn’t be narrow or difficult to access.

On Thousand-eyed Carcinus, Grimm kept looking around. Under the Mask of Truth, he was pondering.

This iced world had frozen the underground soil and minerals into a solid body, and only in this way could the Snowthreads dug the Burrow without causing the whole underground area to collapse.

After all, the gravity of this world was slightly weaker than that of the Sorcerer World, but the difference between them is almost negligible.

It was also because of the frozen characteristic here that the underground magma and river erosion of the world completely disappeared, and the stable state of the Burrow World was better preserved.

Traces and blood and remaining body parts could be seen everywhere in the passage, but there wasn’t a single complete dead body.

Even without thinking, Grimm knew that those corpses must have been devoured by the soul slaves that followed Black Isotta to the core of the Burrow.

After thinking about it, Grimm collected a few ordinary ores in the passage along the way.

Since Snowthreads fed on these ores to survive, some substances in these ores must have low density of active energy, which was worth studying in the future.

Half an hourglass later.

After passing through the labyrinth for about half an hourglass, Grimm and his team reached the first underground burrow that connects to the Burrow under the guidance of Alxa’s team.

The area of this underground burrow wasn’t large, it was only about twice the size of Grimm’s world fragment at his Demon-Hunter Castle, even the information in the crystal ball did not give it a name.

Grimm wondered if there were once a group of native creatures living in this burrow, but now there wasn’t a single trace of life within the area, even the plants on the ground had been collected, eaten, or destroyed completely.

Everyone on Thousand-eyed Caricunus sighed one after another.

The Demon-Hunters before them were way too thorough, they plundered and wiped out everything along their way.

Of course, it was also because this burrow was the first burrow the Demon-Hunter accessed, most of them would take some souvenirs away with them.

Perhaps the other burrows discovered in the future would not be like this.

There were five passages connected to this burrow, two large ones were more than a hundred meters and three small ones, two of which were about twenty to thirty meters, another one was only a few meters.

Several magic lamps were hung at a large passageway to guide the way.

The Burrow World was not like the Shadow World. Although a large area of the Shadow World was covered by clouds all year round, and there was no sunshine, but because of the abundant energy of fire elements, there were high-purity and low-purity Combustars everywhere.

In the underground burrow of the Burrow World, there was no light at all and it was pitch dark.

Hence, most of the creatures’ evolution had abandoned their eyes and evolved towards sound perception.

However, what was strange was that the underground labyrinth was covered with ice crystals and strange ores. Whenever the sorcerers released some elemental lights, the crystals and ores will form a diffuse reflection, which would illuminate the underground labyrinth.

In this way, while some sorcerers who weren’t talented at Perception Sorcery would be affected, they could still move freely and did not need to deliberately consume Magic Power to light up their way using Illuminant Sorcery.

Meanwhile, Grimm was completely unaffected by the environment.

Using the Ultrasound Positioning Sorcery of the Mask of Truth, Grimm saw a monochrome diagram of the cave structure through the reflection of sound waves. Under the influence of Canine Olfactory Sorcery, even his olfactory senses were more sensitive than his visual perception.

Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh, swoosh…

Even with the guidance of light source, out of the caution of Dark Sorcerers, they still took out their crystal balls to confirm the route before flying deeper into the Burrow.

Buzz, buzz, buzz…

A group of sixty-seven Mechanical Marionettes carrying a batch of newly captured slaves flew out. After noticing Alxa, Grimm and the other Demon-Hunters, the Mechanical Marionettes leaned on the edge of the passage and made way from them.

“Caw, caw, Leaf Beast, look! They are all your kind.”

Standing on the mud monster, Myna pointed to the cages that the Mechanical Marionettes were carrying with scorn, its eyes always glancing at Leafie on Lou Linman’s shoulder.

“Woo…”

The mud monster roared. With its low level of intelligence, it had only two emotions, joy and sadness.

A dazzling elemental ray shined on the crown of Lou Linman’s magic staff. Through the diffuse reflection of ice crystals and ores in the underground passage, it lit up the Thousand-eyed Carcinus’s way.

Leafie the parrot knew that Myna was trying to agitate it by naming the mud monster “Leaf”.

Leafie snorted and said, “What a stupid behavior. An ignorant clown who finds pleasure through such a distasteful act. How boring.”

Myna who was initially standing triumphantly stunned. Seeing that not only did it not anger Leafie, but it was also being insulted by Leafie instead, Myna squawked in anger, “You are the clown, your whole family are clowns, all you parrots are clowns!”

“Look, the clown is performing these boring entertainment programs again. Lalala…why don’t you come and bite me.”

Leafie pulled the corner of its eyes with its wings and stuck out its tongue toward Myna.

This pair of little creatures that hated each other since they first met became the noise generator of Grimm’s team along the way, which made Grimm shake his head in secret and sigh.

Initially, Grimm was still thinking about how he could help Myna.

Now it seemed like Myna was just like when he was young, hopelessly clueless about relationships.

No, even dumber than himself!

Staring at Myna which was in another heated argument with Leafie, Grimm said to himself, “This stinky bird deserves to be single all its life. The whole species of Steel Emblem Myna will end here.”

After a while, Myna flew to Grimm’s shoulder triumphantly and said, “Look, Young Master, the parrot’s completely speechless, it couldn’t think of a comeback! Caw caw caw!”

Grimm clenched his teeth and replied, “Yes, not bad, go on!”

“Caw! Really, Young Master? Caw caw caw caw! Ok, I will take a break and continue later. I don’t believe…”

Hearing that Grimm was “praising” itself, Myna had excitement and pride written all over its face.

Grimm felt completely hopeless, “You are done for. The bloodline of Steel Emblem Myna is going to be completely destroyed by you…”

Grimm and his team traveled for fifteen days more. After flying passed more than twenty burrows of different sizes, they arrived at the first relatively large burrow.

There was no end to the burrow at a glance. Under the elemental light, seven-to-eight-meter-high bushes covered with ice crystals were all over the ground.

Alxa stopped and gathered with Grimm’s team.

The old sorceress pointed to her crystal ball and said, “This burrow is about three hundred miles long, called the Pinna Burrow. It used to be the habitat of a creature called Pinna Hare. Pinna Hares possess a skill called the Frost Echo, which is very effective in fighting against Ice Sorcery. We plan to collect come Pinna Hare specimens here, or buy some directly from the sorcerers who caught them here.”

Frost Echo?

Grimm was also looking at the crystal ball, and after asking the opinions of his team members, he said, “Well alright, let’s search for some specimens here and see if we can find anything. We will gather in a day.”

“Alright.”

The crowd dispersed, leaving only Grimm and Thousand-eyed Carcinus…

And of course, there were Myna and the mud monster too.
