Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 101: Chapter 100: Breakthrough, Asura Battle Body Level 2

Outside Four Seasons City, in a dense forest, Xiao Yi was running fast.

After a while, his figure suddenly began to wobble; he stumbled and nearly failed to steady himself, stopping in his tracks.

”Pfft.” Xiao Yi violently spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva.

His injuries had long been so severe that it was hard to keep going.

He casually found a small hill nearby, swept his hand out, and blasted out a cave.

Xiao Yi entered. He made some disguises to cover the cave entrance before completely collapsing to the ground, gasping for air heavily.

”To think a full-force punch from someone in the Sixth Layer of Mysterious Profundity Realm could be so fierce.”

If it had not been for his Ghost Mask and True Qi Outer Layer absorbing part of the force and his body being extremely resilient, he might have already died.

The gap between Mysterious Profundity Realm and Half-step Cave Profound is vast, enough to easily kill in one hit.

Only Xiao Yi, this freak, could survive something like this; anyone else would’ve been dead long ago.

Even so, his injuries were extremely severe.

It was safe to say that since leaving the Xiao Family, this was the most severe injury he had suffered.

His actions today were indeed risky, but he had no choice but to proceed.

Since yesterday, when he overheard Murong Sha and Murong Qianjun’s conversation at the Bai Family, he had been making plans and plotting.

Every three months, the Northern Mountain Murong Family and Shadow Tower would conduct a medium-scale trade outside Four Seasons City.

This was not a secret; many people knew about it.

However, no trade had ever been disrupted, nor had anyone dared to target their goods.

Today, Xiao Yi specifically ambushed outside Four Seasons City, killed their people, and burned their goods, all for one purpose.

Since he could not deal with Murong Sha, a Mysterious Profundity Sixth Layer Martial Artist, he could only cause Murong Sha immense trouble, leaving him no chance to go to Purple Cloud City.

The goods in the caravan were numerous and ordinary, burning them meant little.

The truly valuable and expensive goods were all in the high-level Qiankun Bags of Murong Xiong, Murong Zhi, and some guards, now all in Xiao Yi’s possession.

By overtly seizing this batch of goods, Murong Sha would certainly spare no expense to find him and retrieve the items.

Before that, Murong Sha would not have the chance to go to Purple Cloud City to target the Xiao Family.

To Murong Sha, the Xiao Family in Purple Cloud City was just a minor family, easily squashed; the stolen goods, however, were a major issue.

Although the Xiao Family now had the Demon Hunting Order—a life-saving token—things could always go awry.

If they could avoid facing anyone from the Murong Family directly, all the better.

Now, with the Demon Hunting Order as their basis and knowing that Murong Sha had no opportunity to go to the Xiao Family in Purple Cloud City, the Xiao Family should be safe.

Tomorrow was the day the Sky-splitting Sword Sect would accept disciples, and Xiao Yi needed to secure everything to be at ease.

.....

Upon finishing his thoughts, Xiao Yi took out the Qiankun Bags he had seized today, a total of eight.

Two belonged to Murong Xiong and Murong Zhi respectively, the remaining six were with other guards.

After opening each of them, Xiao Yi was astounded.

Murong Xiong’s was a high-level Qiankun Bag, extremely spacious, filled entirely with Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures and Elixirs, all of high grade.

The Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures were all Third-grade, totalling several thousands.

Xiao Yi recognized most of these materials, mainly used for refining Innate Pills and Hidden Qi Pills.

The Elixirs were also Third-grade, all necessary for healing wounds and restoring True Qi during battles.

Murong Zhi’s too was a high-level Qiankun Bag, filled solely with Demon Beast Cores and Demon Beast Essence Blood.

And all were third-level.

Third-level Demon Beast Cores, five hundred pieces; Third-level Demon Beast Essence Blood, five hundred bottles.

Then came the six guards’ Intermediate Qiankun Bags.

Inside were all kinds of weapons and poisons.

Swords, spears, clubs, halberds, whips, hammers, and daggers, totaling a thousand, none of them ordinary.

Any single one was comparable to his own thousand-tael worth Purple Cloud Iron Sword.

The poisons were also highly toxic; just a small amount was enough to easily poison a Martial Artist below the Innate Realm to death.

”Tsk tsk.” Xiao Yi chuckled softly, ”No wonder it’s the Northern Mountain Murong Family; the total value of this batch of goods is simply astronomical.”

And regarding the quantity of assassins at Shadow Tower, there must be a great number.

However, among these goods, only the Demon Beast Essence Blood was of true use to him.

A full five hundred bottles, all third-level. To think that over the past three months, while hunting mountain bandits and slaying demon beasts, he had only killed a little over a hundred third-level demon beasts.

”I only wanted to create chaos for Murong Sha, but I didn’t expect such a huge harvest,” Xiao Yi was elated.

Without hesitation, he consumed all five hundred bottles of Demon Beast Essence Blood.

Then, following the cultivation technique in Asura Battle Body, he circulated his Qi.

Several hours later, after all the Demon Beast Essence Blood had been expended, the second layer of his Asura Battle Body forcefully achieved a breakthrough, reaching a small level of completion.

The injury inflicted by Murong Zhi’s punch was also instantly healed.

Now, his physical strength was comparable to a demon beast with the strength of the Fourth Layer of Mysterious Profundity.

That is to say, relying on his physical strength, he already possessed the combat power of the Fourth Layer of Mysterious Profundity.

However, just reaching the second layer’s minor completion already required so much Demon Beast Essence Blood.

To refine to the Great Achieved level, let alone the future third and fourth layers, would probably require a staggering number of Demon Beast Essence Blood.

Of course, such a defiance of the heavens like the Asura Battle Body was well worth any cost.

”Who could have thought, on the last day before going to the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, I would have such a gain. Thanks for the loot, Murong family scum.” Xiao Yi sneered coldly.

.....

Meanwhile, in Hundred Martial City, inside the Treasure Trading Company, Murong Sha and Murong Yin were furious.

”Damn Yi Xiao, ruining Deacon’s major plans, making it impossible for Shengbao Trading House to set up in Four Seasons City.”

”Today, he even stole our merchandise; this is simply excessive bullying.”

Murong Yin said angrily, his fists crackling with rage.

Murong Sha’s face also looked unsightly, he said, ”Deacon Murong Yin, if it weren’t for your targeting him everywhere yesterday, I doubt this would have happened today.”

”What does it have to do with me?” Murong Yin retorted.

”Hmph.” Murong Sha said, ”Geniuses have their pride, your targeting him yesterday meant he was bound to retaliate against us.”

”Once this news gets out, I’m afraid the family will blame us first.”

”I traveled thousands of miles, transporting the merchandise from the family to Hundred Martial City, only to have it stolen, how do you expect me to explain this to the family?”

Murong Sha believed that this was simply Yi Xiao taking revenge on Murong Yin; he himself was merely caught in the crossfire.

What he couldn’t think of was the underlying reason, his desire to deal with the Xiao Family in Purple Cloud City.

Murong Yin said coldly, ”Deacon Murong Sha, do you think it’s useful for us to blame each other now? We might as well capture Yi Xiao, skin him, flay him, and take back our goods.”

”Hmm.” Murong Sha nodded and said, ”No matter what, Yi Xiao’s actions are tantamount to provoking our Northern Mountain Murong Family; we must capture him and retrieve our merchandise.”

Murong Yin said, ”I will immediately deploy all the forces from Hundred Martial City to capture Yi Xiao.”

Murong Sha immediately said, ”That Yi Xiao managed to kill Murong Xiong and Murong Zhi; his Purple Flame is too terrifying, ordinary Martial Artists are no match for him.”

”Let’s personally find his whereabouts and handle it ourselves.”

”Handle it ourselves?” Murong Yin was stunned, then disdainfully said, ”Hmph, a mere kid, and he is worth our personal effort?”

Murong Sha spoke gravely, ”You still underestimate him, haven’t you learned from the losses?”

”That batch of goods, though not significant for the family, means a lifetime debt for us.”

”If we can’t retrieve it, not only will the family not let us off, Shadow Tower won’t either.”

Upon hearing this, Murong Yin’s face turned very ugly, but he could only nod angrily.

At that moment, two young men approached.

It was Murong Xuan and Murong Qianjun.

”Deacon Murong Sha, are you finished with your tasks? About the matter in Purple Cloud City...” Murong Qianjun asked respectfully.

However, before he could finish, Murong Sha coldly cut him off.

”I don’t have time for trifles right now,” Murong Sha said coldly.

”Just a Xiao Family in Purple Cloud City, once I handle my affairs, a wave of my hand will obliterate them. If we can’t retrieve the goods, I’ll be the one facing a catastrophe.”

At this moment, Murong Sha and Murong Yin were agitated and angry; Murong Qianjun and the others coming over were just turned into scapegoats.

”But...” Murong Qianjun wanted to say something.

”There are no buts,” Murong Sha scolded, ”Go back to the family in the county immediately, focus on your cultivation. Once things here are settled, I will inform you.”

Murong Qianjun and Murong Xuan’s faces darkened instantly; they were eager for revenge, but they were just minor figures, powerless in the Northern Mountain Murong Family.

The Deacons, if they wanted to help them, would help; if not, they were dismissed with a wave of the hand.

”Yes.” The two responded respectfully. Although they were reluctant, they didn’t dare to oppose Murong Sha at this time.

...

The next day, inside Four Seasons City, in tea houses, pubs, and marketplaces, everyone was talking about the matter of Sky-splitting Sword Sect’s disciples recruitment.

”Sky-splitting Sword Sect is recruiting disciples today; young Martial Artists from all around the Northern Mountain County have almost filled Four Seasons City.”

”Hehe, the Sky-splitting Sword Sect is a Martial Arts Holy Land; naturally, everyone wants to join.”

”However, I heard the assessment is very tough; out of a hundred people, maybe not even one will pass.”

”.....”

In the tea house, everyone was discussing.

As residents of Four Seasons City, they felt proud to be close to the Sky-splitting Sword Sect.

However, suddenly, some people started talking about something else.

”Hey, have you heard? Yesterday, someone stole the business transaction goods between Shengbao Trading Company and Shadow Tower.”

”What? Impossible. Over the years, I’ve never seen anyone daring to mess with that business. Nobody dares to offend these two powerful forces.”

”What do you mean impossible? Let me tell you, the one who snatched the goods was Yi Xiao.”

”Yi Xiao? The Purple Flame Yi Xiao? Really? His guts are that big?”

A table of people sipped their tea while engaging in gossip.

They failed to notice that at the adjacent table, a young man wearing a straw hat was intently listening.

”Did you forget? Deacon Murong Yin targeted Lord Yi Xiao at every turn at the Bai Family.”

”Lord Yi Xiao is a Martial Arts genius, easily defeated Young Master Wuyou; as a fourth-grade Alchemist, he defeated Murong Yin, Fang Hee, and Ye Ming.”

”Such a genius, with such pride, it’s no wonder he took his revenge on Murong Yin.”

The person rambled on, making his tablemates thoroughly enjoy the gossip.

He continued, ”Now, Hundred Martial City Treasure Trading Company is issuing a warrant for Yi Xiao. Even Young Master Wuyou from Shadow Tower is looking everywhere for him.”

Others nodded, ”That’s true, Shadow Tower has a stake in that batch of goods, definitely they too will trouble Yi Xiao.”

He shook his head, ”It’s not just that, have you forgotten? Young Master Wuyou is a battle fanatic; he was previously defeated by Lord Yi Xiao—he naturally wants to settle the score.”

...

The table of people was still eagerly gossiping, unaware that the young man at the next table had already gotten up and left.

No matter where, places like tea houses and pubs, always teemed with abundant gossip and news.

That young man was Xiao Yi.

”Heh, they think I am seeking revenge on Murong Yin? Well, they’re bound to trouble me anyway.”

”But what’s this about Young Master Wuyou being a battle fanatic? Why is that guy all over looking for me?”

Xiao Yi furrowed his brows.

After a long moment, he shook his head helplessly, muttered, ”Forget it, they’re all a bunch of bastards; let’s head to the Sky-splitting Sword Sect instead.”
