Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 113: Chapter 112: Assessment First Place

Xiao Yi’s voice wasn’t loud, yet it clearly reached the ears of the martial artists present.

His tone was casual, but it caused nearly three thousand martial artists to simultaneously change their expressions and unconsciously step back.

Nearly a hundred against almost three thousand seemed completely outmatched.

Yet among these near hundred, there were several at the Innate Ninth Layer and all ranked within the top twenty of the Northern Mountain Ranking; more than ten at the Innate Eighth Layer, and dozens at the Innate Seventh Layer, with the weakest being at the Innate Sixth Layer.

By contrast, the only two Innate Ninth Layers among the nearly three thousand martial artists with numerical superiority, Zhao Buqun, and Guu Changfeng, were already seriously injured and had no fighting capacity.

The only ones who could show their faces were the ’leaders’ of those ten large factions.

The rest were mostly at the Innate First and Second Layer, and even the weakest was only at the Postnatal Ninth Layer.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that these nearly three thousand martial artists would inevitably be the ones defeated.

Of course, relying on their numerical advantage, even if they were to lose in the end, Xiao Yi and the others would also suffer heavy casualties.

Overall, it would result in mutual destruction.

”Gentlemen,” Xiao Yi took another step forward.

The nearly three thousand martial artists took another simultaneous step back.

Xiao Yi smiled and said, ”If you do not wish to fight, disperse on your own, and I will act as if the incident earlier never happened.”

In reality, the outcome of mutual destruction didn’t include Xiao Yi.

Including Xiao Yi, it would only be a one-sided massacre.

With the Physical Strength of the Mysterious Profundity Fourth Layer, he alone could easily massacre these thousands.

The gap between the Mysterious Profundity Realm and the Innate Realm was vast; it couldn’t be compensated for by mere numbers.

The martial artists of this world could traverse the skies and the seas, and were capable of anything.

Those martial arts powerhouses with extremely high realms each possessed cultivation that could destroy the heavens and the earth.

Slaying millions was a mere trifle.

In the face of true strength, numbers were just a joke.

Although Xiao Yi didn’t currently possess such advanced realms, he was more than enough to contend with the martial artists before him.

But to resume our tale.

No more than ten seconds after Xiao Yi finished speaking, all the martial artists dispersed, reverting to the previous chaotic battles.

One moment they were uniting to rob Xiao Yi of his treasures; the next, they fought each other again.

Such was the way of the world, and thus was human nature; there were no eternal enemies, no eternal friends, only eternal interests.

Hua Jian and the others also resumed their previous rush to snatch their respective scores in the battle.

Only Xiao Yi and four others remained on the spot.

”Have you all snatched enough points?” Xiao Yi asked.

Lin Jin and the rest nodded, saying, ”I snatched the scores from one of the ’leaders.’ It’s enough to pass the assessment.”

Tie Niu also said, ”I’ve got enough, too. There’s not much point in stealing more.”

Qin Feiyang and Liu Yanran also nodded in agreement, indicating they had enough as well.

The party of five didn’t join the ensuing battles and departed with an air of detachment.

Everyone had to return to the Sword Sect Mountain Gate on the last day of the month-long assessment.

Deacons, already waiting there, would record the scores and determine the final rankings.

...

Outside the Sword Sect, ten Deacons stood with their hands behind their backs.

To one side were Xiao Yi and the four others.

They were among the earliest to return and record their scores.

Xiao Yi smiled faintly, recalling the past month, the corners of his mouth involuntarily lifted in a sense of satisfaction.

A month ago, he had arrived at this Sword Sect Mountain Gate, alone and unnoticed, lining up to register.

One month later, in the same place, he had gained four good friends, four genuine friendships.

For him, these four friendships, this month of life and death, mattered much more than many things.

In his past life, although he was a feared assassin, he lived his life alone, with very few friends.

In this life, transmigrated over, what he encountered was nothing but constant heartache and deceitful schemes.

The only thing comforting and valuable to him were those few affectionate elders of the Xiao Family.

Now, these friendships gave him great satisfaction.

And he treasured them all the more.

It wasn’t that he was being sentimental, rather, it was a state of mind.

At that moment, Lin Jin and the others, a bit bored, started making small talk.

Xiao Yi took out the Wind Singing Sword from his Qiankun Bag and said to Liu Yanran, ”This is for you.”

”Hm?” Liu Yanran was stunned.

Xiao Yi chuckled, ”Last time, you said that I, with the lowest Cultivation, deserved the Golden Wing Pill by right. Now, it seems you are the weakest, so the Wind Singing Sword is for you.”

Last time, the Golden Wing Pill should have been given to Liu Yanran by rights. This time, the Wind Singing Sword was reciprocating the favor.

Liu Yanran’s beautiful eyes twinkled, but she didn’t take it and instead asked, ”Is this the precious Spiritual Artifact you’re willing to give me?”

”Just now, you thought I was going to rob you of your Earth Rank Martial Technique, hmph.”

Liu Yanran looked mock-angry.

Xiao Yi gave a wry smile, thinking to himself that women are indeed petty creatures.

”I don’t have any Earth Rank Martial Technique to give you, but if I did, I would give it to you,” Xiao Yi said seriously, putting away his smile.

This was the truth, as for other Martial Artists, the much-coveted Earth Rank Martial Technique wasn’t anything special in his eyes.

His trump cards, whether it be the Purple Flame or the Asura Battle Body, were each worth a hundred times more than any Earth Rank Martial Technique.

Of course, there was no need to even mention the Purple Flame; it was an ability ’plundered’ by the Ice Phoenix Sword and attached to the Fire Control Beast, which couldn’t be given to anyone else, and nobody else could acquire it.

The Asura Battle Body was a Cultivation Technique almost impossible for outsiders to practice.

Even the Bloodthirsty Profound Monarch of those days could hardly suppress the savage aura from the Demon Beast Essence Blood, let alone others.

Not to mention that others were unaware of the existence of the Asura Battle Body and didn’t know that the Bloodthirsty Profound Monarch had become immensely powerful because of it.

Even if they knew and practiced it, it would be exceedingly dangerous, comparable to placing a ticking time bomb inside one’s body.

Only Xiao Yi, possessing the Ice Phoenix Sword, somehow managed to disperse that savage aura and practice it without any danger.

”Hmph.” At that moment, Liu Yanran huffed and pouted, ”You sure know how to talk.”

”I don’t want this Wind Singing Sword,” Liu Yanran said, joy apparent in her expression, but she still didn’t take the Wind Singing Sword.

”You don’t want it?” Xiao Yi was taken aback.

”Mhm,” Liu Yanran said, ”If possible, could you give me something else next time?”

”What do you want?” Xiao Yi asked.

Liu Yanran smiled and said, ”I haven’t decided yet. If I see something I like next time, I’ll ask you for it.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t like the Wind Singing Sword, but rather, she didn’t want to accept something so valuable. Moreover, she would have to fight in the upcoming assessments, and in her view, Xiao Yi would need the Wind Singing Sword more.

Xiao Yi smiled, guessing her thoughts but not exposing them, and simply nodded in agreement, ”Alright.”

Xiao Yi thought for a moment; the Wind Singing Sword was, after all, plundered from Guu Changfeng. If Guu were to cause trouble later, it wouldn’t be good for Liu Yanran. It was better for him to keep it himself.

...

Before long, people started returning from the forest one by one and went to the Deacon’s Office to record their scores.

By nightfall, all the Martial Artists had returned from the forest.

After all ten Deacons finished their calculations, they began to announce the rankings.

Among the ten Deacons, the leader was the very ’Elder Yi’ who had given Xiao Yi his Token a month ago.

”The first place, Xiao Yi, 2535 points.”

As Elder Yi said this, he glanced at Xiao Yi with some surprise.

The other Martial Artists, who had witnessed Xiao Yi defeat both Guu Changfeng and Zhao Buqun, weren’t too surprised.

In the crowd, a young man suddenly frowned, staring intensely at Xiao Yi.

”Second place, Lei Zhan, 2530 points.”

Elder Yi said and looked towards the young man.

Yes, that young man was Lei Zhan.

Xiao Yi also looked at Lei Zhan; he hadn’t appeared in today’s melee, and Xiao Yi wondered why.

However, Lei Zhan was always a loner, and by himself, he managed to score 2530 points, which was indeed terrifying.

Knowing that Xiao Yi had today taken scores from both Guu Changfeng and Zhao Buqun, plus the scores he had earned from defeating other small teams over the past month, his total was only 2535 points.

He was only 5 points higher than Lei Zhan, a slim margin by which he took first place.

”Third place, Lin Jin, 830 points.”

Considering there were originally over ten thousand participants in the assessment, the total points amounted to over ten thousand.

Those in large gangs took advantage of their numbers to rob the most points, all of which were handed over to their leaders.

As a result, Guu Changfeng and Zhao Buqun each originally had around eleven hundred points, while other ’leaders’ had about five hundred points each.

Xiao Yi’s team, originally each had around three hundred points, saw a significant rise after robbing them.

”Fourth place, Tie Niu, 820 points.”

”Fifth place, Liu Yanran, 800 points.”

”Sixth place, Qin Feiyang, 650 points.”

”Seventh place, Hee Jian, 550 points.”

”...”

Elder Yi rapidly announced the rankings.

At this point, both Xiao Yi and Lin Jin looked at Qin Feiyang with puzzled expressions.

”What happened? Your score shouldn’t be that low,” Xiao Yi asked.

”I remember your score was the same as mine, 830,” Lin Jin also inquired.

The straightforward Tie Niu pointed at Qin Feiyang and said, ”During today’s fight, I saw him flirting with several girls.”

Xiao Yi’s expression turned odd, ”You didn’t give your points away, did you?”

Qin Feiyang curled his lip and said, ”When a beauty asks, naturally I can’t refuse.”

”This lecher,” Xiao Yi shook his head helplessly.
