Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 103: Chapter 102: Hit by a Vehicle

Over ten thousand Martial Artists were scattered throughout this vast forest spanning three hundred miles.

After the Deacon from the Sword Sect patiently finished explaining the rules, everyone became cautious of each other.

Once the assessment was announced to begin, a group of Martial Artists entered the forest and disappeared without a trace in a short while.

Xiao Yi was no exception, after running alone for several hours, he stopped.

But now, his thoughts weren’t focused on how to plunder others’ scores, but rather on finding a way to have a good sleep.

Over the past ten-plus days, he had run a distance of ten thousand miles almost without rest; then he refined a Peak Fourth-grade Elixir that exceeded his current Cultivation level, which exhausted his heart and mind.

Lastly, he killed two Mysterious Profundity First Layer Martial Artists at the cost of sustaining severe injuries.

The cumulative load, even if his body could withstand it, still made him feel tired.

Of course, the most important reason was that there was plenty of time for this assessment.

”Since I have to stay in the forest for a month, I might as well be lazy for two days,” Xiao Yi murmured to himself with a smile, made a good concealment on a lush green tree, then collapsed into sleep.

It had to be said that Xiao Yi’s hiding skills were indeed formidable.

Just some leaves placed mysteriously and seemingly at random, from a distance, he seemed to blend seamlessly with the tree.

Without careful observation, even if someone were very close, they would definitely not be able to spot a person sleeping on the tree.

For the King of Assassins, concealment was the simplest of tasks. Anything could be seamlessly integrated by his hands, becoming the perfect hiding spot.

This ability had nothing to do with Cultivation level and everything to do with experience and methods.

At the very least, among these ten thousand-plus geniuses, even if their Cultivation levels were high, they were far from matching him in experience and methods, let alone discovering him.

...

Inside the forest, no one dared to act rashly, and no one dared to initiate battle and become the target of all.

The opportunity to become a disciple of the Sky-splitting Sword Sect was precious to everyone, and they had to be extremely cautious.

However, by the third day, the situation changed drastically.

In just a few hours, there were no fewer than hundreds of battles.

Casualties occurred frequently.

One day later, the combat became even more intense.

The once peaceful forest suddenly filled with the sounds of battle everywhere.

The entire forest began to exude danger, with everyone feeling at risk.

These Martial Artists, who had some fame in their respective areas of Northern Mountain County and were cherished and revered by their families or sects,

were now facing the most brutal failure of their lives, or even death.

Three days later, battles had swept through most of the forest; many places were left devastated, trees destroyed, the land ravaged, lakes obstructed, and wildlife running in all directions.

What exactly was the reason for the sudden outbreak of battle in the forest; why did it suddenly become so fierce; and why did it ultimately turn into a battle zone of smoke and strife?

Lord Xiao, who was still on the big tree, had no idea what was happening and continued to sleep soundly.

Fortunately, years of habit had made him highly vigilant even in sleep, his breathing was so faint that it was almost inaudible, let alone snoring.

On the fourth day, a mere ten meters from Lord Xiao’s tree, three bedraggled Martial Artists appeared.

Two men and one woman.

The two men, one with Sixth Layer Cultivation and the other with Seventh Layer Cultivation.

The woman, with Sixth Layer Cultivation.

Their Cultivation levels were among the upper echelons of these ten thousand-plus Martial Artists.

At the moment, however, all three were injured and looked utterly disheveled.

”Still think you can run? You won’t be able to escape.”

Suddenly, a loud shout resounded, and dozens of people surrounded the three.

The young man leading the group looked triumphantly at the three, saying, ”You three seemed to have defeated quite a few people the day before yesterday, earning a lot of points, right?”

”Hu Hai, what exactly do you want?” one of the three, who stepped forward, asked with a determined face and a cold voice.

”Lin Jin, I can’t be bothered to talk nonsense with you,” the leading young man, Hu Hai, said with pride, ”Hand over the points from your Tokens, and I’ll spare your little lives.”

”Impossible,” replied Lin Jin, the one among them with Seventh Layer Cultivation, through gritted teeth.

”Impossible?” Hu Hai sneered, ”Don’t force me to be ruthless by refusing a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit. Hand over the points obediently, even if you start from zero, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to rob others.”

”If you refuse to hand them over, then don’t blame me for being heartless and killing all three of you.”

Lin Jin was a man of extreme pride. He said coldly, ”Hu Hai, you are merely at the Innate Sixth Layer. If it weren’t for that bunch of lackeys, do you think you’d have the right to speak to me?”

Lin Jin and his two companions appeared to be only around 18 years old.

But Hu Hai, despite his Innate Sixth Layer, was at least in his early twenties, and his talent was clearly far inferior.

Hu Hai’s face darkened. ”Lin Jin, it’s you who are seeking your own death, don’t blame me for it.”

With that said, Hu Hai waved his hand, and dozens of Martial Artists swarmed forward.

These dozens were all at the Innate Fourth Layer; in one-on-one combat, they were no match for Lin Jin and his companions, but with their collective assault, Lin Jin and the others had no chance of winning.

Lin Jin’s face turned stern as he spoke to the young woman beside him, ”Yanran, although we have known each other for only a few days, we’ve shared hardship together. You go first when the fight starts, Tie Niu and I will battle them to the death.”

The young woman was the youngest of the three, simply a girl. Though not a ravishing beauty, she was nevertheless a rare sight, her figure slender and willowy, her face gentle like a cool breeze over a quiet stream, ineffably comforting to look upon, with large, watery eyes that spoke volumes of tenderness.

But the gentle girl now shook her head firmly, her face full of pride.

Ahead, Hu Hai sneered, ”A fight to the death? I’m afraid it will be the three of you little fish that are wiped out while my net remains unharmed. Oh, and the girl, do not kill her, keep her alive.”

As Hu Hai spoke, his eyes filled with lechery as he looked toward the young woman.

The battle ignited instantly.

Lin Jin and Tie Niu were besieged by thirty Innate Fourth Layer Martial Artists, and though they hadn’t fallen, they were at a disadvantage.

Hu Hai, together with a dozen others, besieged the young woman.

Minutes later, the young woman completely fell at a disadvantage and was sent flying by a palm from Hu Hai.

”Puh.” The girl violently spat out a mouthful of blood, evidently sustained minor injuries. She described a graceful arc in midair as she was sent flying.

Her trajectory took her toward a large tree some ten meters away.

Just at that moment, Lord Xiao, who had been sound asleep, seemed to have had his fill of rest or perhaps was woken by the noisy commotion, as he opened his bleary eyes, preparing to stretch and get up.

However, before he could fully stretch, a fleeting shadow hurtled towards him at great speed.

Xiao Yi’s reflexes were incredibly fast. His eyes turned cold as he thought to himself, ”An ambush?”

He instantly drew the Purple Cloud Iron Sword from his Qiankun Bag.

Just as he was about to slash the incoming object, he realized it was a person and quickly retracted his sword.

Because of this, he lost the chance to dodge the shadow.

With a ”thud,” Xiao Yi was knocked off the tree.

”Ouch.” Xiao Yi fell to the ground, wincing in pain.

At the same time, he realized that the one who had collided with him was a young woman similar in age, who was now lying on top of him, pale-faced.

As fate would have it, his hands, which he had swung out as he fell from the tree, had landed on her waist.

Feeling her warm breath and touching her slender waist up close made Xiao Yi feel awkward, and he quickly let go.

”Miss, were you practicing ’Outer Heaven Flying Immortal’ just now? If it’s alright, could you get up, please? You’re quite heavy,” Xiao Yi said indifferently.

In fact, the girl wasn’t heavy at all, quite light in fact, but this was just Xiao Yi’s attempt to avoid embarrassment.

”Outer Heaven Flying Immortal?” The young woman was stupefied, and she also came to her senses, her face turning red.

She then slowly began to wonder, thinking that she hadn’t seen anyone in the tree while she was running, so where did this person come from all of a sudden?

She quickly stood up, looking apologetically at Xiao Yi, saying, ”Sorry... Um.”

When the young woman saw Xiao Yi’s face, she froze. The young man in front of her was quite handsome, and combined with his sleepy, languid demeanor as well as the utterly contrary proud aura between his brows, it left her heart in a haze.

”Um... that... what is ’Outer Heaven Flying Immortal’?” The young woman regained her composure, feeling a bit awkward.

Xiao Yi remained silent. Although the young woman was beautiful, he only glanced at her once and did not look again, cursing himself internally for sleeping too heavily.

At that moment, from a short distance away, Hu Hai, seeing a figure suddenly drop from the tree, was also taken aback.

But after sensing for a while, he realized that the figure was only at the Innate Third Layer and immediately showed a ferocious look, ”Kill that boy as well.”

”Oh no,” the young woman immediately remembered that she was still in the middle of a battle.

Xiao Yi clearly heard Hu Hai’s words, his expression turning cold as he said to the young woman, ”Was it that guy who hit you and caused me to fall off the tree?”

His emphasis on the ”caused me to fall off” was pronounced.

The young woman nodded, saying, ”It was him, you should run, don’t let him steal your points.”

The young woman obviously sensed that Xiao Yi was only at the Innate Third Layer.

”Hmph,” Xiao Yi snorted coldly, his figure flashed, and he instantly disappeared from the spot.

The young woman’s eyes flickered, exclaiming, ”So fast.”

The next second, Xiao Yi appeared in front of Hu Hai; the Purple Cloud Iron Sword held coldly against Hu Hai’s neck.
