Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 135: Chapter 134: Assisting Each Other

”4.8 million silver taels, Family Master Guu bids 4.8 million silver taels. Is there anyone willing to offer a higher price?”

The auctioneer asked excitedly.

Guests on the first floor rolled their eyes one after another.

On the second floor, the Wang, Zhao, and Bai families wore expressions of despair; the Guu and Zhong families, however, looked like the cat that caught the canary.

”Alas, what a pity,” Bai Family Master sighed. ”It seems this treasure is fated to elude the Bai family.”

The next second, the look of displeasure on his face completely faded, and he returned to his normal demeanor.

It was clear to see that the Bai Family Master was an ambitious yet optimistic man.

Seeing this, Xiao Yi smiled and asked, ”So, Family Master Bai, you really wanted that Starlight Stone?”

”Of course,” Bai Family Master laughed. ”Do you know what the Starlight Stone represents, and the significance of a High Grade Spiritual Artifact?”

”In the entire Northern Mountain County, there are only two top-grade Spiritual Artifacts. One is held by the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, and the other is in the County Capital Demon Hunting Hall.”

”A Mystic Breakthrough Ninth Layer Martial Artist wielding one could slay Earth Origin Realm Martial Artists.”

”Besides, only a few major powers possess High Grade Spiritual Artifacts; all are Overlord Level forces in Northern Mountain County.”

”Like the Northern Mountain Murong Family, Shadow Tower.”

”Common major powers like ours only have Mid-grade Spirit Artifacts.”

”You can imagine, if the Bai family possessed a High Grade Spiritual Artifact, our family’s power would surely soar.”

As he spoke, Bai Family Master’s face was full of longing.

”I’m only at Mystic Breakthrough Fourth Layer; with a High Grade Spiritual Artifact, my strength could match that of someone at the Mystic Breakthrough Seventh Layer.”

Spiritual Artifacts are among the most precious things in the world because they can greatly amplify a martial artist’s strength.

Of course, to fully unleash the power of a High Grade Spiritual Artifact, one must at least reach the Mystic Breakthrough Realm.

And the gap between someone at the Mystic Breakthrough Seventh Layer and Fourth Layer is enormous.

If the Bai family had a Mystic Breakthrough Seventh Layer Martial Artist as a guardian, their family’s power would inevitably rise to a new level.

”Family Master Bai, how much do you think the Guu and Zhong families can put together?” Xiao Yi asked.

Bai Family Master was taken aback. Although he didn’t know why Xiao Yi was asking this, he still replied, ”To my estimation, no more than 5 million silver taels.”

Xiao Yi nodded and said, ”Then that’s good.”

”What do you mean by that, young brother Yi Xiao?” Bai Family Master asked, his face showing confusion.

The next second, Xiao Yi took an item out of his Qiankun Bag and flicked it with a wave of his hand, sending it onto the display stage below.

The auctioneer was initially startled, thinking it was an attack, as the Starlight Stone absolutely could not be compromised.

When he saw it wasn’t an attack, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The auctioneer picked up the item, glanced at it, and then his eyes lit up, exclaiming, ”Oh, one of the Third-grade Peak Elixirs, the Life Spirit Pill, and it’s of the Perfect Level.”

As an auctioneer, he naturally possessed a certain ability to appraise as well.

”Purple Flame, what is the meaning of tossing this Elixir here?” the auctioneer inquired.

From the second floor, Xiao Yi said, ”May I ask if you accept this item instead of silver taels?”

”Of course,” the auctioneer quickly replied. ”We’ll take as many as you have, but they must be of the Perfect Level; we don’t want the ordinary ones. One pill can be worth 3,000 silver taels.”

The guests on the first floor, upon hearing the auctioneer’s words, were also slightly surprised, ”A Life Spirit Pill of the Perfect Level? That’s worth far more than 3,000 silver taels. However, if it’s used in place of silver taels, then it’s about right.”

In the lives of ordinary people, silver taels are the capital for transactions.

But in the life of a martial artist, Elixirs can act as hard currency.

On the Flame Dragon Continent, Alchemists are regarded as the most honorable and rare profession.

Compared to the countless martial artists, the number of Alchemists is but a drop in the ocean.

Under the massive demand, Elixirs are often in short supply.

That is to say, there’s no such thing as an Elixir that can’t be sold; only Elixirs that can’t be bought out.

This, in turn, makes Elixirs one of the hard currencies.

However, there is a distinction.

Elixirs like the Snow Soul Pill, which are only consumed by Ice Attribute Martial Soul martial artists, cannot become hard currency.

But Elixirs like the Innate Pill, Mysterious Profundity Pill, Life Spirit Pill, Giant Strength Pill, Hidden Qi Pill, and so on, which are useful to anyone, can become hard currency.

Of course, the Elixir must be of Third-grade or above.

Also, the quality of the Elixir cannot be poor; they can’t be shoddy, and they must be at least of good quality.

The quality of Elixirs is divided into inferior, standard, good, and perfect.

There’s no difference in effect; the only difference is in the time it takes to work.

For example, the Life Spirit Pill, a healing Holy Medicine.

An Innate Martial Artist with serious injuries could recover within two hours with a good Life Spirit Pill; a Perfect Level one could heal within an hour.

For a martial artist training outside, the faster they can recover from injuries, the better.

Thus, a Perfect Level Life Spirit Pill can indeed act as hard currency.

At that moment, Xiao Yi waved his hand, flinging out five jade vials. ”Each bottle contains 20 Life Spirit Pills, 100 in total, all of Perfect Level. You may check them,” he stated.

”Oh?” The auctioneer hurried to check the pills.

Meanwhile, the guests on the first floor burst into a commotion. ”100 Perfect Level Elixirs? Purple Flame Yi Xiao truly lives up to his reputation for effortlessly refining Peak Fourth-grade Elixirs.”

”In the realm of Elixir Refining, throughout the entire Northern Mountain County, only a handful of Fifth-grade Alchemists could possibly outmatch him. ”

Refining Perfect Elixirs relied on both skill and luck.

Perfect Elixirs demanded extremely high proficiency from an Alchemist; among one hundred Alchemists of the same grade, it would be rare to find one capable of such a feat.

Normally, when an Alchemist’s grade was more than two grades above that of the Elixir, they would have a significant chance of regularly producing Perfect Elixirs.

That is to say, it was relatively easier for a Fifth-grade Alchemist to refine Perfect Third-grade Elixirs.

Apart from that, it all came down to luck.

Even the least skilled Alchemist, upon refining hundreds of pills, would inevitably produce a few Perfect ones.

However, for Xiao Yi to produce 100 pills at once, it proved he relied on skill, not luck.

In just a matter of seconds, the auctioneer had completed the verification.

”100 pills, all Perfect Level. Our trading company will buy them from you for 300,000 silver taels, is that acceptable?” the auctioneer asked.

”Fine,” Xiao Yi nodded, then flipped out another five jade vials, saying, ”These are Third-grade Giant Strength Pills, also of Perfect Level, 100 in total. Make an offer.”

”Perfect Level Giant Strength Pills?” The auctioneer was taken aback.

Xiao Yi stated, ”You may check their effect; when consumed by an Innate Ninth Layer Martial Artist, they can momentarily exert the strength of Half-step Cave Profound and maintain it for half an hour.”

”What?” The auctioneer immediately started to check.

If it was as Yi Xiao claimed, then the value of these Giant Strength Pills would be even higher than that of the earlier Life Spirit Pills.

After a moment, the auctioneer’s face was full of astonishment as he said, ”Indeed, they are all Perfect Level.”

”Purple Flame Yi Xiao, your reputation is well deserved. For these Giant Strength Pills, our trading company will buy each at 5,000 silver taels; 100 pills, that would be 500,000 silver taels.”

”Agreed,” Xiao Yi nodded, then turned to Bai Family Master and asked, ”I wonder, Bai Family Master, do you now have the confidence to obtain the Starlight Stone?”

Xiao Yi did not conceal the purpose of his words.

In fact, everyone present knew that Xiao Yi was revealing his pills to help Bai Family Master.

”Yi Xiao, my young friend, this...” Bai Family Master hesitated for a moment.

Xiao Yi waved his hand and said, ”There is no need for courtesy, Bai Family Master. Let’s talk after the auction ends.”

”Thank you,” Bai Family Master bowed his hands in thanks, then loudly declared, ”I bid 5.3 million silver taels for the Starlight Stone.”

”You...” Both Family Master Guu and Zhong Family Master had turned extremely pale from the moment Xiao Yi started presenting his Elixirs.

Now, their expressions were frostier than ever.

”Purple Flame, don’t think you’re the only one with Elixirs,” Family Master Guu said coldly, ”The Starlight Stone is a must-have for the Guu Family.”

”Cultivation Techniques, Martial Techniques, even Spiritual Artifacts, I can simply sell them all to the auction house.”

”I’d like to see how a mere Demon Hunter can outmatch the wealth of the entire Guu Family.”

They could indeed pull together up to 5 million silver taels in cash.

But that was only in tangible money.

Including their actual assets, naturally, their wealth was far greater.

They would have to sell off assets to continue bidding.

”Selling assets?” Xiao Yi smiled faintly and said, ”Family Master Guu, let me give you a reminder.”

”The value of Cultivation Techniques, Martial Techniques, or Low-grade Spirit Artifacts, if sold right now, would plummet to less than half.”

Perfect Elixirs, on the other hand, could directly serve as currency at their full value.

Because everyone would buy those Elixirs, in fact, many guests on the first floor were already planning to purchase some from the trading company after the auction ended.

But Cultivation Techniques, Martial Techniques, and Spiritual Artifacts were not items everyone would buy; firstly because they are expensive, and secondly, if the attributes did not align, they would be useless.

One must find a suitable buyer.

Therefore, to sell them now meant a definite drop in price.

Continuing, Xiao Yi said, ”Family Master Guu, it would be worthwhile for you to sell off all Guu Family assets to acquire the Starlight Stone.”

”However, if you fail to obtain it, and sell now to the trading company, do you expect to buy it back later at the same price? When that time comes, if the Guu Family loses everything, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

”After all...”

At that point, Xiao Yi paused, then spoke arrogantly, ”When it comes to Perfect Elixirs, I have plenty. I could easily take out a few thousand.”

”I just wonder how much wealth Family Master Guu possesses to compete against me.”

After speaking, Xiao Yi sat back down, remaining silent.

Below, the guests involuntarily swallowed, feeling astonished.

”Just a few thousand Perfect Elixirs?”

”It’s said that Alchemists are known to be rich, and seeing it today truly surpasses the reputation.”

Above, Bai Family Master also spoke up, ”Family Master Guu, if you intend to sell treasures, I, Bai, will sell as well.”

”Let’s continue this auction. I and young brother Yi Xiao will wait for your bid.”
