Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 118: Chapter 117: Defeating Lei Zhan

Lei Zhan made the first move.

As a genius Demon Hunter acclaimed by all in the Eighteen Cities of East Desolate, countless demon beasts had died by his hand; the number of other genius Martial Artists defeated by him was innumerable.

He had never known defeat, except in the first round of assessment at the Sky-splitting Sword Sect, where he had lost to Xiao Yi by a mere five points.

Boom... Boom... Boom...

The Thunder Light Hammer in his hand soared into the air, and countless bolts of lightning shot out from it, wildly violent.

The thunderbolts had not even struck yet, merely gathering, but they were already causing the ground around them to crack and break, a raging tempest.

The dazzling blue light nearly blinded the other Martial Artists.

”Go,” Lei Zhan commanded with a sweep of his hand, as countless bolts of thunder wildly struck towards Xiao Yi.

In the next moment, the torrents of lightning had engulfed Xiao Yi.

”Hmph, die,” Lei Zhan sneered coldly.

He just wanted to defeat Xiao Yi immediately and prove that he was number one.

”To be disintegrated by my lightning is an honor for you,” Lei Zhan was filled with confidence in his attack.

Below, the crowd of Martial Artists was startled, ”So powerful.”

”That Thunder Light Hammer itself is a highly aggressive Martial Soul, and with Lei Zhan’s Half-step Cave Profound Cultivation, even an Innate Ninth Layer would only be instantly killed.”

”That Xiao Yi, ranked first in the last round of assessment, I’m afraid he’s going to die.”

There was a buzz of conversation among the Martial Artists.

”Xiao Yi,” Lin Jin and the others exclaimed in shock.

Suddenly, a faint sound emerged on the Martial Arts Arena, ”Disperse.”

As soon as the word fell, the lightning that had engulfed Xiao Yi instantly dissipated.

”Hm?” Lei Zhan narrowed his eyes slightly.

With the lightning dispersed, Xiao Yi’s figure was revealed.

Layers of Breeze Sword Gang surrounded him within several meters of his body, easily neutralizing the lightning.

”You’ve got some skill,” Lei Zhan praised.

”However, observing the Sword Gang around your body, it must be emitted by a Martial Technique, and it’s also a martial technique or swordsmanship of at least Xuan Rank.”

”But I have yet to use any Martial Technique; the lightning just now was merely a warm-up.”

”Once I use a Martial Technique...”

”There’s no need for idle talk,” Xiao Yi interrupted him, casting a glance at Lin Jin and the others below, noting the anxious expressions on their faces.

”Heh,” Xiao Yi laughed heartily, ”Now, there are several fools worrying about me.”

”Though I think their worry is needless.”

”But what I like the least is being worried about.”

”So Lei Zhan, bad luck for you, I’m about to end the fight now.”

Xiao Yi’s indifferent voice was both teasing Lin Jin and the others, and also a signal to them not to worry.

Yet, to Lei Zhan’s ears, these words were starkly contemptuous.

”Xiao Yi, I want you dead,” Lei Zhan’s face was filled with murderous intent as he roared, ”Thunder Fury.”

Thunder Fury, an Advanced Martial Technique of Xuan Rank. Extremely violent when executed with a Thunder Attribute Martial Soul, its power exceeded that of an ordinary Peak Xuan Rank Martial Technique by several degrees.

”Hmph,” Xiao Yi remained fearless and uttered in a low voice, ”Rising Dragon.”

In an instant, Xiao Yi’s momentum surged.

With the boost from Rising Dragon, although his Innate Ninth Layer Cultivation did not break through to the Mysterious Profundity Realm, it far surpassed Half-step Mysterious Profundity.

As the violent ’Thunder Fury’ came crashing, he merely punched out lightly, and the Thunder Fury instantly dissipated.

”It’s my turn,” Xiao Yi moved swiftly, launching an attack toward Lei Zhan in the blink of an eye.

”So fast,” Lei Dong exclaimed in shock, shouting, ”Thunderstrike as Mountain.”

Thunderstrike as Mountain, an Advanced Martial Technique of Xuan Rank, renowned for its strong defensive power.

A layer of Thunder Armor covered Lei Zhan, imposing in appearance.

However, when Xiao Yi’s punch hit it.

Crack... Crack... Crack...

The Thunder Armor shattered in an instant.

Then, the remaining force of Xiao Yi’s punch hit Lei Zhan without any reduction in power.

With a thud, Lei Zhan was sent flying by the electric strike.

Spluttering, Lei Zhan steadied himself and spat out a mouthful of blood, his face deathly pale.

”How can he be so strong,” Lei Zhan’s face was filled with disbelief.

”The momentum was close to the Mysterious Profundity Realm, the power far surpassed my Martial Techniques, how is this possible,” Lei Zhan gritted his teeth.

”You’re going to lose,” Xiao Yi said indifferently, his figure once again disappeared on the spot.

”No...impossible,” Lei Zhan roared, ”In the Eighteen Cities of the Eastern Desolate, how many tough guys have died by my hands; how many notable geniuses from the Northern Mountain Ranking have fallen to my Thunder Light Hammer.”

”Xiao Yi, you’re just a nobody, you don’t have the qualifications to defeat me.”

”Three Thousand Thunder Slaughter,” Lei Zhan howled, his face suddenly becoming frenzied.

A black thunder electricity appeared out of thin air, like the long thunder of the void, and like the Dark Thunder of the Netherworld.

Eerie amidst its horrifying might.

The Three Thousand Thunder Slaughter was already a Peak Xuan Rank Martial Technique; seven days ago, Lei Zhan had a breakthrough with this technique, refining it to Great Achieved.

Now, the power of this move had definitely reached the scope of an Earth Rank Martial Technique.

Below, the Martial Artists seemed to be attracted by this heart-stopping fight, completely forgetting to challenge the other competitors.

”Such strong thunder, that Lei Zhan is really a monster.”

”I feel like I’d die if I were just touched by that Thunder Slaughter; Xiao Yi, this time, seems more to be doomed than hopeful.”

The other Martial Artists discussed amongst themselves.

Lin Jin’s face was also filled with shock, ”This is bad, Lei Zhan’s Martial Technique, I’m afraid, is difficult even for a Mysterious Profundity Realm Warrior to withstand.”

”Click, click.” Tie Niu’s fists clenched with an audible cracking sound, the Illusion of the Earth-shattering Divine Bull just about to condense.

Liu Yanran’s Spiritual Artifact appeared out of nowhere in her hands, her eyes revealing a barely concealed killing intent.

”I’ll go save Xiao Yi, with my speed...” Qin Feiyang was about to transform into his eagle form.

”Don’t be impulsive,” Lin Jin exclaimed loudly, stopping the three of them.

”This is an assessment, and it’s Xiao Yi’s own battle, we can’t interfere,” Lin Jin said gravely, ”Besides, we are no match for Lei Zhan.”

”Those Thunder Slaughters could pulverize anything below the Mysterious Profundity Realm into powder.”

On the Martial Arts Arena, Lei Zhan’s Three Thousand Thunder Slaughter kept condensing.

This seemed to be his forbidden move; as he released it, he, too, was enduring great pressure.

Clearly, while the Thunder Slaughter was fierce, he himself was also facing the risk of backlash.

Gradually, as his face turned incredibly pale from the pressure he could barely endure, and the Thunder Slaughter grew to a terrifying might...

A fist, a large and powerful arm, appeared out of nowhere.

Xiao Yi simply stood directly in front of Lei Zhan, his body covered with Breeze Sword Gang, and punched at Lei Zhan.

With a ”boom,” the Thunder Slaughter was easily dispersed.

”Lei Zhan, I’ve waited for you for so long, just to have you bring out all your strength, so you would be utterly convinced of your defeat.”

”Now I’m blasting you away because I don’t want you to suffer more backlash, you still have subsequent battles.”

”A strong man ought to be respected; he should also be given the correct ranking.”

With those words, Xiao Yi unleashed a punch.

Under Lei Zhan’s incredulous gaze, the punch knocked him off the Martial Arts Arena.

”Urgh.” Lei Zhan spit out a mouthful of blood, and after steadying himself below, he stared at Xiao Yi with a face full of fighting spirit.

The next second, he cupped his fists, said, ”Thanks, but one day, I will defeat you with my own hands.”

After speaking, Lei Zhan turned and left, sitting down in a corner to recover from his injuries.

On the other side, Lin Jin and the others widened their eyes.

”Xiao Yi won, defeated Lei Zhan,” Lin Jin said in amazement.

”Good guy, worthy of being my teammate Qin Feiyang, quite capable,” Qin Feiyang said proudly.

”Xiao Yi is quite strong,” Liu Yanran’s beautiful eyes shimmered, filled with delight.

Tie Niu shook his head and said nothing.

On the Martial Arts Arena, Xiao Yi gave the four a light smile, signaling them not to worry.

After a while, he put away his smile, looking intently at Lei Zhan who was recovering in the distance, his expression becoming serious.

The battle just now, though it seemed easy.

But he knew very well the terrifying extent of Lei Zhan’s battle power just now.

Even though he himself was Innate Ninth Layer, and even after using Rising Dragon, his Cultivation far exceeded that of Half-step Cave Profound, and he had much more True Qi than Lei Zhan.

But, Lei Zhan’s move just now was definitely enough to utterly crush him, who relied only on True Qi and Breeze Sword Gang.

That’s the advantage of possessing a powerful Martial Technique.

When Cultivation is the same, or not much different, the one with a powerful Martial Technique definitely has the upper hand, even winning with ease.

In the end, it was his Physical Strength that allowed him to punch through the Thunder Slaughter and blast Lei Zhan off the stage.

However, he added Breeze Sword Gang to the punch as a deception, with dense Sword Qi covering it.

There’s no need to worry about others discovering his Physical Strength, at most others would think he used some kind of powerful Martial Technique, such as the fictitious Earth Rank Martial Technique.

Minutes later, the Martial Artists finally recovered from the intense battle between Xiao Yi and Lei Zhan and began to challenge other competitors.

As for the area around Xiao Yi, since Lei Zhan’s defeat, no one dared to challenge him again.
