The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Bond of the Mysterious Petal

Of course, Zhang Yun couldn’t use Instant Teleportation to return home. He had actually entered the Peach Blossom Spring Space, disappearing for a moment before reappearing, making the other party think he was moving at high speed.

When he returned, the dog at Xiuqin’s House probably smelled his scent or recognized his footsteps and didn’t bark wildly.

As he quietly slipped back into his bedroom, the lights suddenly flicked on.

”Are you okay?” Ouyang Mingruo asked anxiously. She had already gotten out of bed and carefully inspected Zhang Yun.

He spread his arms to let her look. ”What could possibly happen to me? They were just some petty thieves, and I chased them all away...”

Before he could finish speaking, Ouyang Mingruo threw her arms around him!

Zhang Yun kept his arms spread wide, finding it awkward to pull them back. ”Um... Miss Mingruo, what are you doing? Don’t tempt me into making a mistake; I can’t withstand such a test.”

Ouyang Mingruo didn’t say a word. Instead, she pressed her face against his chest.

He wondered, ”Can I hug her back?” Zhang Yun tentatively placed a hand on her head and stroked her beautiful hair. Having just gone out to deal with those men, he didn’t harbor any inappropriate thoughts.

”Thank you...” she finally said softly, her face still pressed against him after ten seconds or so.

Zhang Yun smiled. ”Why are you thanking me again? We’re at my house. It’s only natural for me to chase away some petty thieves.”

”You don’t need to comfort me... I heard everything.”

”Uh...” Zhang Yun furrowed his brows slightly.

Although his abilities in all aspects had become quite strong, he still lacked Experience. When dealing with those two men, his attention had been entirely focused on them, and he hadn’t noticed Ouyang Mingruo coming out. He needed to learn from this. It was fine since she was on his side, but if a second wave of enemies had been hiding in the dark, things would have been very troublesome.

”Ouyang Chunqiu really couldn’t hold back anymore. He’s getting more and more ruthless...”

As she said this, Zhang Yun felt her body tremble slightly.

”If I died here, everyone would think that it was because I resisted you and you accidentally killed me. That would truly ruin you... If they had detonated that thing, and if you and your uncle were both here, it would have directly killed you both...”

Ouyang Mingruo was trembling even more, overwhelmed by a mix of lingering fear and furious indignation.

Zhang Yun placed his other hand on her back and patted her gently.

”In the end, I crushed their scheme. I tracked them down, broke their legs, and heavily injured them before chasing them off. This will send a clear message to the mastermind behind the scenes, letting him know that you are already aware of what he’s doing!”

Ouyang Mingruo hugged Zhang Yun tighter. ”He already had a car ram into me last time, and he still hasn’t stopped. This means he won’t give up until he achieves his goal, and he doesn’t care if I figure it out or not.”

Zhang Yun understood the implication. Ouyang Kunpeng must have merely given a verbal warning or reprimand, so Ouyang Chunqiu was confident he wouldn’t face equivalent punishment. He had nothing to fear. Furthermore, as long as he left no evidence, he could easily deny everything.

”When I was at the hospital that day...”

”What about it?”

”Originally, I just wanted to speak with you alone because you took off my pantyhose. But for some reason, the moment I saw you, I felt an inexplicable sense of comfort and trust.” Ouyang Mingruo revealed a bit more.

”It’s probably because... I carried you out all the way after your car crash. You were in a daze at the time, but it must have left a deep subconscious impression.” Zhang Yun offered a simple explanation, though he secretly wondered, ”Could it be because of the Mysterious Petals?”

”Maybe. Deep down, I already see you as a hero, like a guardian deity. I was very anxious today and felt uneasy the whole way here, but the moment I saw you, I immediately calmed down. I could even joke around in front of everyone.”

Zhang Yun immediately pressed, ”Did you only get this feeling when you saw me in person? Not during our video call?”

”I did, but it wasn’t as obvious. Seeing you tonight, I felt truly grounded. Before I was woken up just now, I fell asleep surprisingly fast and had a very peaceful rest.” Ouyang Mingruo looked up at him and emphasized seriously, ”I’m not just saying this to flatter you!”

Zhang Yun knew what was going on. It was definitely the Mysterious Petals!

Now that he had consumed an entire flower, Ouyang Mingruo, who had ingested half a petal, felt a stronger sense of attraction and security toward him! From a certain perspective, this was a shared bond between them.

”Then get some good sleep. I, your guardian deity, will watch over you so you can sleep in.” Zhang Yun patted her head and said with deliberate exaggeration, ”Being in such close contact with a great beauty like you is making my heart race. If this continues, something is bound to happen.”

Ouyang Mingruo wrinkled her nose and pouted slightly. ”You’re changing the subject on purpose!”

”Huh?”

”I’m telling you this to let you know that I didn’t hire you just to be a shield or cannon fodder. It’s because you truly make me feel safe, and... as you proved just now, you’re quite formidable.” Saying this, Ouyang Mingruo put on a pitiful, cute expression. ”Since you’ve already saved me, won’t you go all the way and protect me?”

Zhang Yun shook his head. ”I told you from the very beginning that I don’t want to get involved in your wealthy family’s grudges. The severity of this matter is something your old man should decide on. If he really refuses to support you, and your mother doesn’t either, then it wouldn’t be a big deal to abandon them. You don’t strike me as someone who needs to rely on your family or parents.”

This time, they spoke calmly, without any jokes or bickering, reflecting the sheer seriousness of the situation.

”I understand. I’ll consider your suggestion. Regardless, I am very grateful to you.” With that, Ouyang Mingruo stood on her tiptoes and kissed Zhang Yun on the forehead.

Having a soft, fragrant woman in his arms and smelling her faint perfume had already made Zhang Yun feel incredibly wonderful. Now that she leaned in to kiss his forehead, his heartbeat accelerated even more!

Just as he couldn’t help but want to take the initiative, Ouyang Mingruo had already let go of him and returned to the bed.

”Let’s sleep.”

After such a commotion, even after the lights were turned off again, neither of them could fall asleep.

After a while, Zhang Yun asked softly, ”Miss Mingruo...”

”Call me Ouyang, call me Mingruo, or even Ouyang Mingruo. Just don’t call me Miss Mingruo,” she huffed softly.

The title ”Miss Mingruo” essentially dug a trench between their relationship! She seemed to have mentioned this before, but Zhang Yun simply couldn’t bring himself to say it casually. After all, she had the unmistakable aura of a wealthy heiress and a female CEO. ”Mingruo...”

Ouyang Mingruo replied in satisfaction, ”I’m not asleep. Go ahead!”

”If you’re not confident in your family’s bodyguards and suspect that they might have been bribed by Ouyang Chunqiu, or given the green light to turn a blind eye...”

Ouyang Mingruo said with pleasant surprise, ”I really do suspect that! So you also think I’m in grave danger, right? Will you be my personal bodyguard?”

Zhang Yun chuckled. ”I meant... I can introduce you to a few reliable bodyguards.”

”...” Ouyang Mingruo snorted. ”I only want you to personally protect me.”

”I recently took in four apprentices. They are Sanda masters who can form a team to protect you. One of them is a girl, which would be convenient for close protection...”

”Are you serious?” Ouyang Mingruo rolled her big, watery eyes in the dark.

”I’m serious! I really did take in a few Sanda masters as apprentices. Aside from their strength, speed, agility, and reaction time not being as good as mine, they are better than me in every other aspect!”

”Pfft!” Ouyang Mingruo laughed and scolded him softly. ”If they aren’t as good as you in any of those things, what could they possibly be better at? Are they just older than you? All this talk about Sanda masters is just an excuse to kiss your own ass!”

Zhang Yun secretly rolled his eyes. He thought, ”I’ve never even practiced yoga, so how could I possibly kiss my own ass...”
