The Fantastic Little Farmer

Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Publicly Parading Village Chief Gao

Zhang Youcai heard this voice, his expression changing. As he turned around, he managed to force a smile.

”Village Chief Gao, you can’t just say things like that. This is just... a greeting gift for a few of the younger generation.”

Zhang Yun sized up the middle-aged man who had just walked in. He had an imposing aura tinged with a hint of craftiness; he didn’t look like someone easy to get along with.

Gao Weimin was also staring at Zhang Yun. He had clearly learned about the situation just now from Gao Jun and the others—Zhang Yun was the main character today.

”If he isn’t a public official, I suppose it doesn’t count as bribery. So, it’s paying for thugs to beat people up?” He continued to stare at Zhang Yun, slapping another serious accusation onto him.

”Look at what you’re saying!” Zhang Youcai laughed dryly.

”None of your damn business,” Zhang Yun fired back directly.

Gao Weimin had been waiting for Zhang Yun to explain himself and had even prepared a rebuttal, but he never expected such a blunt retort. ”Do young people these days have any manners at all? What’s with this ’damn’ business?”

”None of your fucking business! None of your damn business! None of your grandma’s business!”

”You—”

”Gao Jun is your illegitimate son, isn’t he? He’s just as much of a busybody as you are!”

”...” Gao Weimin had just prepared to spit back an insult, but he didn’t expect Zhang Yun to not only unleash a string of curses but also drop such an unexpected bomb. His face flushed red with anger. ”Stop slandering me!”

”You’re blushing! You’re feeling guilty! I hit the nail on the head, didn’t I?” Zhang Yun clicked his tongue and shook his head.

”Guilty my ass!” Gao Weimin roared. He swung his hand, aiming a slap straight at Zhang Yun’s face.

Zhang Yun casually reached out and caught Gao Weimin’s hand right before it hit. ”You attacked me first. There are security cameras in the office that can prove you threw the first punch!”

Hearing this, Gao Weimin realized with dread that he had been tricked by this brat into making the first move. Fortunately, the slap hadn’t landed.

Zhang Yun wasn’t actually going to sue him for assault; he just wanted to shut the man up and secure a justifiable reason to hit him!

”My turn!”

After saying that, Zhang Yun delivered a swift kick to Gao Weimin’s abdomen. Without even a grunt, Gao Weimin was sent flying backward out of the office!

”Uncle!” Gao Jun and Gao Tie’s cries rang out from outside.

Unlike the other blindly following villagers, Gao Jun and Gao Tie held deeper trust and admiration for Gao Weimin. Although Zhang Yun’s words earlier had sparked some doubt, they had been re-brainwashed after going back and talking to Gao Weimin. Gao Weimin had to deal with this matter immediately. Knowing that brute force was useless and that he had to rely on his wits and status, he hadn’t brought a large crowd, only bringing Gao Jun and Gao Tie along.

The two of them had initially been furious at Zhang Yun for sowing discord and wanted to come back to settle the score. However, the moment they entered the factory, the humiliating memory from earlier resurfaced. Terrified that Zhang Yun would throw them out again, they hesitated outside the office, too scared to go in.

When Zhang Yun just claimed that Gao Jun was Gao Weimin’s illegitimate son, it had immediately enraged Gao Jun! But just as he charged to the doorway, he was struck by the flying Gao Weimin and knocked backward into Gao Tie! Like bowling pins, the three of them crashed into a tangled heap on the floor.

Zhang Yun stepped out of the office and planted his foot firmly on the three men stacked together. They struggled with all their might, but it felt as if a mountain was pressing down on them, rendering them completely immobile!

Xu Jin and the other three didn’t need to lift a finger, but they immediately followed him out and surrounded the trio.

Gao Jun and Gao Tie were already traumatized. Now, pinned to the ground and looking up at Zhang Yun from his pant legs, they felt an immense, crushing pressure. With four other men glaring at them like tigers stalking their prey, they couldn’t help but think that if each of them delivered just one kick, their faces would be swollen beyond recognition.

Gao Weimin yelled, ”Zhang Youcai! This is a crime! Are you trying to kill us?”

Zhang Youcai had been suffering major headaches because of this man lately, so seeing them eat dirt now was incredibly satisfying. Having picked up a bit of Zhang Yun’s style just now, he followed them out and looked down at Gao Weimin with a hint of disdain.

”Village Chief Gao, there’s video evidence proving you struck first. Zhang Yun was just acting in self-defense. As for out here... there’s nothing to steal in the hallway, so there aren’t any cameras.”

Gao Weimin almost coughed up blood. He wondered if this was a calculated trap from the start. Just because there were no cameras meant they could beat him up as they pleased?

”Let me go! Otherwise, I’ll make you pay for this!” Gao Weimin glared viciously at Zhang Yun. He was supposed to be the mastermind behind the scenes, yet here he was, personally taking the field only to get stepped on. It completely ruined his image.

”You’re going to make me pay? Then I really can’t let you go!” Zhang Yun applied more pressure with his foot, and the three men immediately began to groan. Fortunately, the burliest of them, Gao Tie, was at the very bottom of the human dogpile; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to endure it.

”Zhang Yun, was it? I’ll remember you! Let me go if you have the guts!”

”Why should I let you go just because you said so? Do I need to prove my guts to you?” Zhang Yun sneered and turned to Xu Jin. ”Fetch me a cup of tea!”

”Okay!” Fu Yudie reacted quickly, rushing inside and immediately bringing a poured cup of tea. ”Have some tea, Master!”

”It’s not for me to drink. I’m helping Boss Zhang entertain his guests by treating them to tea!” As Zhang Yun spoke, he tilted the teacup and poured it directly over the faces of the three men.

”PTOO, PTOO! Zhang Yun... you fucking...”

”Fight me face-to-face if you have the balls!”

Having hot tea poured directly over their faces was indeed incredibly uncomfortable, forcing all of them to squeeze their eyes shut.

Watching from the side, Fu Yudie offered a constructive suggestion: ”Master, should I bring the whole teapot over?”

”Sure.”

Gao Weimin and the other two immediately panicked. Water poured from a cup lost a lot of heat in the process, but a teapot retained heat much better. If boiling water spouted from a small nozzle onto them, it might scald them into swollen pigs!

”Don’t do anything crazy!”

”You little brat! You look so pretty, but why is your heart so black?”

Zhang Yun, however, shouted at the top of his lungs, ”Don’t be shy! Everyone watching the show, come closer! If there are any employees from Gao Village here, you can go back and spread the word. Look at their ugly mugs! This is the guy who’s been constantly causing trouble and trying to ruin your factory!”

Hearing this, Zhang Youcai felt a bit awkward. Aside from a few trusted managers, he hadn’t spoken about this publicly. Although he knew it couldn’t be kept a secret forever, he didn’t want it to become a public spectacle either.

The employees had originally been spectating from afar, but upon hearing this, they all stepped forward to take a closer look.

”Gao Weimin disregards contracts and constantly pressures your boss. I don’t know how much money Boss Zhang makes, but I believe you all know better than I do how much it costs to build a new factory! If he can’t hold on and has to shut down, is Gao Weimin going to pay your wages? You’ll all have to find new jobs.”

Zhang Yun continued to make a public exhibition of them!

Since things had already reached this point, the awkward Zhang Youcai threw caution to the wind. With a pained expression, he said, ”Fellow workers! I haven’t mentioned this to everyone, but they are truly going too far! Many of you have been with me for years and know that we had a pleasant cooperation with the previous village chief and Gao Village. Ever since Village Chief Gao took office, he practically wants to tear up the contract and rob us blind!

”Everyone knows how hard it is to get orders these days and how thin the profit margins are. I, Zhang Youcai, wouldn’t dare call myself incredibly righteous, but I have never delayed your wages, have I? If I genuinely make a bit more money, I’ll give it out as bonuses to you all. By what right can he just swoop in and rob us?”

As soon as he said this, he slyly shifted the concept of rent costs into the theft of everyone’s bonuses. This immediately made the workers feel personally targeted, filling them with righteous indignation.

”The people of Gao Village are quite nice. How come this Gao Weimin is so shameless?”

”Isn’t it because he’s greedy for money? Someone like him should be dealt with!”

”What a disgrace! He’s completely thrown away Gao Village’s face!”
