Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

At this moment, Chen Jie looked at Hama and said: ”Old Lord, why does the Demon Slayer Monk want to kill you?”

Hama’s face immediately turned unpleasant upon hearing this: ”Isn’t it just our Left Minister seeing me as an eyesore, wanting to eliminate me and monopolize power!”

Chen Jie looked at Hama and said: ”Lord, are you saying this Demon Slayer Monk was sent by Tuotuo to harm you?”

Hama said: ”Who else could it be besides Tuotuo, and this Demon Slayer Monk also confessed, I must thank Brother Jiu Si here, if it weren’t for you, I would have really met my end here!”

Chen Jie said: ”Sigh, Old Lord, you have thanked me many times, let us not talk about these things.”

”However, this Tuotuo, having failed once to kill the Lord, do you think he will let it rest easily?”

Hama’s face changed at these words and said: ”Brother Jiu Si, do you mean Tuotuo will still target me?”

Chen Jie smiled at these words and said: ”Lord, you’ve been fighting with Tuotuo for so many years, don’t you know what kind of person he is?”

Chen Jie looked at Hama as Hama’s face turned pale; after a long period, he spoke: ”Not achieving the goal, he swears to not give up!”

Chen Jie said: ”Given this, does the Lord think he would watch the Lord return to the Capital to share the burdens of the nation?”

Hama sneered coldly: ”He, he wishes the old man were still lying here. Let me return to the Capital? Now that I think about it, this bastard must have planned long ago to draw me out of the Capital to sweep the tomb of the late emperor, just to kill me!”

Chen Jie said: ”He is indeed vicious.”

Hama said: ”Brother Jiu Si, you aren’t employed by the court, you don’t know, Tuotuo is notorious for his unscrupulous means.”

Chen Jie said: ”Old Lord, another puzzle is why Tuotuo chooses this moment to act against you, not later or earlier?”

Hama was taken aback: ”Indeed, there’s nothing significant happening in the Capital now, could it be the King Slaughter Conference he is orchestrating? But what does killing the demon sect rebels have to do with the old man?”

”The old man hasn’t provoked him recently either!”

Hama also fell into contemplation; this matter was a bit perplexing.

Chen Jie at this moment looked at Hama and gently guided: ”Could there be matters here unknown to us?”

Hama said: ”Unknown to us?”

As Hama spoke, his eyes shifted to Wang Baobao: ”Hey, Kuokuo, dear nephew, why did you come to the Capital?”

Wang Baobao saw Hama finally asking him, he spoke: ”To submit a petition to the Emperor!”

Hmm?

Hama was stunned, looking at Wang Baobao: ”Dear nephew, you were stationed with Ruyang King in Jiangnan, wielding considerable forces. What matter could require dear nephew to petition to the Emperor?”

Wang Baobao responded: ”Stationed in Jiangnan, now it’s no longer possible, Tuotuo has detained my father, secretly sent people to Jiangnan to start dismantling the vassal factions!”

”What!”

Hama suddenly stood up, his eyes round staring at Wang Baobao: ”Dismantling vassals?”

”Tuotuo actually dares to dismantle vassals!”

Hama was utterly shocked: ”He has gone mad!”

Wang Baobao did not mince words, and directly pulled out a yellow scroll from his bosom, embroidered with a four-clawed giant python, instantly handing it to Hama.

Hama looked at the scroll before him apprehensively: ”What is this?”

Wang Baobao said: ”Eight Kings’ Biography!”

Gulp!

Hama swallowed his saliva, his eyes wide open, now deeply shocked by these developments. Whether it is dismantling vassals or the Eight Kings’ Biography, these are massive events capable of altering the court’s situation.

No need to ask, if this Eight Kings’ Biography reaches the Emperor, it would indeed be a colossal earthquake.

Thinking of this, Hama felt the matter was too overwhelming, even beyond what he could handle now.

He somewhat wished to flee; if embroiled in this matter, he might end up completely shattered.

He, Hama, was like an old fox; why had he managed to survive all these years in the court, mainly because he understood the art of keeping a low profile or, in other words, pretending ignorance, and not getting involved in matters too big for him.

Now, this matter is a definite whirlpool, should he choose to get involved and fail, then Tuotuo would certainly leave him utterly devastated.

Thinking this, Hama hesitated.

Seeing him like this, Chen Jie understood immediately, shaking his head internally, an old fox, nothing less than an old bastard.

Thinking this, however, you wish to stay out of this matter? Don’t even think about it.

Chen Jie wasn’t in a hurry, allowing Hama to digest carefully, once he had mostly processed the situation, Chen Jie spoke: ”Lord, now do you understand why Tuotuo wants to kill you?”

Hama said: ”Afraid I might disrupt his plan to dismantle the vassal factions?”

Chen Jie said: ”Hm, that’s right; the power of court officials, outsiders, and vassal kings are in a tripartite stand-off, a code set by the Grand Ancestor, now court officials desire sole dominance, first dismantling vassal kings, do you think once he completes this, he would wish to share power with outsiders?”

”But, the old man doesn’t wish to share it with him?”

”Old Lord, what you wish and what he thinks are two different matters, doesn’t know if the Old Lord can understand. Your not wishing does not mean he doesn’t wish.”

”Moreover, he is beyond thinking now, he has acted; today it was the Demon Slayer Monk, I took a calamity for you, what about tomorrow? Will it be Dharma Ba or someone else? Does the Old Lord have considerations in mind?”

Hama heard this and turned pale: ”How can he be so aggressive?”

Chen Jie laughed: ”Old Lord, you haven’t been in this career just once, political struggles have always been so brutal, it is either you die or I perish; once he takes action against the Old Lord, he will not halt, hence the Old Lord has only two paths, live or die, Old Lord you must choose!”

Hama took a deep breath at this time, his thoughts spinning quickly, after a long while he calmed down and looked at Chen Jie: ”You and Kuokuo are aligned.”

Chen Jie said: ”Is it not obvious?”

Hama again took a deep breath and said: ”Your purpose here is to rescue Ruyang King?”

”That’s right, and of course, to topple Tuotuo!”

Hama took a deep breath and said: ”Tuotuo is not easy to topple!”

Chen Jie said: ”He has violated the interests of vassal kings and the foundation of Imperial power, he is bound to fall; now if we can get this Eight Kings’ Biography on Your Majesty’s desk, then Tuotuo will be finished!”

Hama took a deep breath and said: ”But Tuotuo will not surrender easily; he must have laid out assassins throughout the Capital now. I go, and my life will be gone!”

Chen Jie said: ”Lord, if you don’t go your life will be gone, you only have this one chance; if Tuotuo falls, you will not only be safe but can regain the Emperor’s trust and the power of Prime Minister, and the Old Lord should understand the principle that the greater the turbulence, the more valuable the fish!”

”Fight once for a lifetime relief and immense benefits; under such circumstances, what is the Lord still hesitating for? If you miss this opportunity, once Tuotuo achieves his goals, can you still survive, Lord?”

”I, why must he force me like this?”

Hama’s breath was heavy, Chen Jie said: ”Lord, the court is a battlefield, a place where it’s either you die or I perish, the Old Lord should not be so weak; we can still help the Old Lord now, once Tuotuo achieves his goal, we can no longer assist much, so the Old Lord needs to fend for himself!”

Snap!

Hama stamped his foot and said: ”Fine, the old man will gamble once, destiny commands life, wealth depends on heaven!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie laughed: ”The Old Lord is right, such should be the resolve of a man.”

Hama then grabbed the Eight Kings’ Biography from Wang Baobao’s hand: ”Tomorrow the old man will submit against Tuotuo in Jinluan Palace, if he wants the old man’s life, the old man shall demand his life first!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Jie said: ”The Old Lord is right, if he wants us dead, we shall make him die!”

Hmm!

This time Hama’s eyes brightened up a bit too, ready to fight for his life, and if he wins, the benefits are indeed plentiful.

Thinking here, Hama no longer hesitated.

The few discussed the plan, Chen Jie arranged for them to escort Hama grandly into the Capital when the gates of the Great Capital City open tomorrow, secretly sneaking into the city is difficult, but in broad daylight, under the light of day, Hama entering the Capital, no one dares to obstruct.

After all, who dares to stop the Right Minister from returning to the Capital?

The group set the plans in order, decided to lodge in the nearby town, and also prepared their carriage, while hiring some people to amplify their presence.

Secretly entering the city, Tuotuo may send someone to intercept, but boldly and openly, I, Hama, after completing the ancestral rites, who dares to stop my return to the Capital?

The group set relevant convenants and Chen Jie took a deep breath; what follows will indeed reveal their sharp tools.

Tomorrow we shall resolve victory on Jinluan Palace, as for time it is quite sufficient, the Emperor of Daqian is very lazy, never holds morning court meetings, so tomorrow’s birthday celebration is held at noon, thus if arriving before noon tomorrow to enter the city, then everything is still on track.

After setting in the town, securing accommodations for Hama, Chen Jie saw Zhao Ya approaching, and said to Chen Jie: ”Jiu Si, I have translated the Ancient Lan Wisdom Scripture!”
