Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

He hesitated for a long time and looked at Chen Jie, saying, ”Brother Jiu Si, could you let me have this ginseng? I can pay a huge sum for it!”

After hearing Zhu Chongba’s words, Fang Guozhen and Liu Futong looked up at the two people before them, and saw Chen Jie smiling as he said, ”Brother Chongba, you’re joking. The purpose of bringing out these treasures this time is to distribute them among all the brothers.”

”Talking about spending a huge sum is beside the point.”

Chen Jie continued, ”This time, the attack on the Imperial Palace was successful, thanks to everyone’s contribution. I also took advantage of the brothers’ presence to luckily seize the Royal Family’s Inner Treasury.”

”So these things should belong to everyone, how could I keep them all to myself?”

Chen Jie spoke, then looked at Liu Futong, saying, ”Big Brother, you are the Commander-in-Chief of this battle and the most reputable person here. You should distribute this batch of treasure.”

Chen Jie gave Liu Futong the opportunity to distribute the treasure. Liu Futong was momentarily stunned upon hearing this and looked at Chen Jie, saying, ”Jiu Si, these treasures are priceless. Do you really want to distribute them?”

Chen Jie replied, ”Of course, they must be divided!”

Liu Futong said, ”This time, our main purpose here was to rescue the Little Ming King. We hadn’t planned for anything else. You came up with the idea to attack the Imperial Palace, and you secured the Inner Treasury. Now, if we take them out to divide, isn’t that inappropriate?”

Fang Guozhen listened to this and said, ”Fourth Brother, the Big Brother is right; these things are yours, naturally belonging to you alone. We shouldn’t divide them.”

Zhu Chongba genuinely wanted the old ginseng in his hand, so he looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Brother Jiu Si, I won’t say much about the other things. They are yours, I agree. I only hope you can part with this ginseng and sell it to me.”

Chen Jie listened to everyone’s words and shook his head, saying, ”Big Brother, Third Brother, Brother Chongba, I’ve always shared blessings and dangers alike. These treasures, I can’t possibly retain them all myself. You must take them, whether you want them or not.”

”Moreover, not only should you take them, but I believe this time everyone who participated in the uprising deserves a share.”

Speaking this far, Chen Jie said, ”I suggest we divide these treasures into ten parts.”

”The first part, we four families will divide. Big Brother represents the Zoroastrian Sect and takes three parts; Third Brother represents the Divine Dragon Sect and takes two parts; I and Chongba each take one part. The remaining three parts will be appraised and converted into Silver Coin to be distributed to various brothers.”

”What does everyone think?”

Chen Jie directly presented his thought. The first to disagree was Liu Futong, who said, ”No, no, absolutely not. You came up with the idea to attack the Imperial Palace, you seized the Inner Treasury. In the end, the greatest benefit comes to me. You’re not helping your Big Brother; you’re insulting your Big Brother!”

Liu Futong firmly disagreed, and Fang Guozhen also said, ”Yes, Jiu Si, just like the Big Brother said, you came up with the idea, you executed the action, and in the end, the Big Brother and I take the lion’s share. It seems like the Big Brother and I did it intentionally. This makes it look like we’re bullying our brother, Jiu Si. If you have any dissatisfaction with the Big Brother or me, say it outright; no need to treat us like this!”

After listening to Liu Futong and Fang Guozhen, Chen Jie said, ”Elder Brothers, I really don’t mean it this way. This time, regardless of dispatching troops or daringly holding back the enemy, it’s all thanks to Elder Brothers’ contributions. You deserve this much.”

”No, no.”

The two continued shaking their heads unwilling to accept, so Fang Guozhen looked at Zhu Chongba and said, ”Chongba, say something. You have a say in this matter too.”

Zhu Chongba, seeing everyone pushing him forward, had no choice but to smile bitterly and said, ”I have no issues with Jiu Si’s distribution. The Venerable Commanded this time, bore the greatest risk, and deserves the largest share, as does the Dragon King. It’s just that Jiu Si gave himself very little, only ten percent. I think it should be at least twenty percent, to be equal to the Dragon King.”

Chen Jie, hearing this, said, ”No, this time many brothers contributed significantly, and some even died inside the Imperial Palace. So those thirty percent cannot be touched.”

Listening to this, Zhu Chongba said, ”Then use my ten percent. I only want this ginseng; I don’t want the rest. Give my ten percent to Brother Jiu Si.”

Chen Jie said, ”That won’t do, Brother Chongba, blocking Dharma Ba was a significant accomplishment; how could you not take your ten percent? That doesn’t make sense, Third Brother, what do you think?”

Chen Jie asked Fang Guozhen, who silently hesitated for a moment before voicing, ”How about I give one of my parts to Jiu Si? I don’t lack these things.”

Chen Jie said, ”That won’t do. Brother blocked Boluo, a fierce general, deserving of the top merit. If Brother doesn’t want it, then we can’t take it either!”

”But Jiu Si, you can’t take only ten percent; that’s too little.”

...

The crowd argued, and suddenly Liu Futong clapped, saying, ”Alright, stop competing. Jiu Si just said everything should listen to me. Since it’s like this, let me arrange this allocation.”

Upon saying this, everyone immediately looked at Liu Futong, wanting to see how he would arrange it.

Then Liu Futong said, ”Jiu Si is right. This time, all brothers paid a significant price. Their thirty percent cannot be moved.”

”Regarding Chongba’s ten percent, it cannot be moved either. Chongba blocked Dharma Ba, with Melt God First Turn’s strength, holding back Melt God Second Transition for an hour; this is already a huge credit. If not rewarded, it’s hard to convince people!”

At this point, Liu Futong looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Jiu Si, no need to say more. This entire plan was conceived by Jiu Si, and all these treasures were brought back by Jiu Si. With his merit, he takes ten percent indeed too little. If divided like this, I fear there’ll no longer be someone to devise strategies for the Holy Sect in the future.”

”Apart from this, there’s Third Brother’s twenty percent. Third Brother blocking Boluo is actually worth two parts, and Third Brother was also injured.”

”So Third Brother’s twenty percent cannot be moved either. Given that, I’ve thought long and hard, the only solution is to take one part from me to give to Jiu Si. I, Third Brother, Jiu Si each take twenty percent; Chongba takes ten percent; the remaining thirty percent distributed among all brothers!”

Everyone was momentarily stunned upon hearing this, immediately looking at Liu Futong and saying, ”However difficult it is, we can’t let Big Brother (Venerable) take that ten percent!”

Liu Futong replied, ”Enough, since I am Big Brother, the Venerable, then just listen to me and do it this way!”

As soon as he said this, everyone had nothing more to say. They cheerfully divided the spoils; actually, these things aren’t important to Chen Jie, but they’re enough to win people’s hearts. After Chen Jie divided the gold and silver, his prestige instantly surpassed Zhu Chongba and Fang Guozhen, becoming second only to Liu Futong among this group.

As for Liu Futong, he’s unshakeable, being the current spiritual leader of the Zoroastrian Sect. Also, let’s not forget, Liu Futong went through the Battle of Wending Mountain together with Han Shantong. Therefore, in many people’s eyes, Liu Futong is like a god.

Chen Jie, leveraging his financial offensive for a favorable reputation within the rebel army, achieved something quite impressive.

Don’t underestimate this favorable reputation. When the rebel army in the future finds itself out of options or wants a support, they might choose to lean on a leader with a good name.

After all, no one wants to submit to a brutal leader, and that’s why Chen Jie chose to distribute the money this way.

Chen Jie wanted to spread his good name far and wide, and more importantly, these treasures aren’t important to him. Using something unimportant to exchange for a renowned good name is undoubtedly worthwhile.

Chen Jie was distributing treasures, enjoying everyone’s gratitude, when suddenly someone shouted, ”Look, the Little Ming King is back!”

The shout instantly startled everyone. Quickly, they saw in the distance, Mei Tu coming with the Little Ming King, with Zhao Ya and others following behind. Chen Jie looked over and frowned, noticing the absence of Ruyang King.

What? Was the action a failure?

Chen Jie furrowed his eyebrows tightly. As the Little Ming King returned, he rushed to Liu Futong’s embrace, crying uncontrollably.

This time, he was genuinely terrified.

Watching from the side, Fang Guozhen showed disdain, but Liu Futong patted his back, ”Alright, you’re home now, you’re home. It’s all over.”

People nearby saw the Little Ming King truly returned, each one was thrilled; the Little Ming King’s return signified their rescue plan’s success!

The crowd couldn’t help but cheer, but Chen Jie quickly approached Zhao Ya, who appeared dejected, and Wang Baobao, and asked, ”What’s wrong, Yaya? The Prince wasn’t in the Great Buddha Temple?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya shook her head and soon said, ”Father was indeed in the Great Buddha Temple, but... but he was unwilling to leave!”

What?!

Chen Jie’s furrow deepened!
