Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Fang Guozhen nodded slightly and said, ”Hmm, since elder brother has matters at home, I’ll leave with you first. If anything comes up, send me a message by flying pigeon.”

Hearing this, Chen Jie nodded gently and replied, ”Hmm, I won’t be formal with you, brother.”

Fang Guozhen, not one to be overly sentimental, immediately said, ”Then I’ll be off, brother.”

Chen Jie clasped his hands and said, ”Take care on the road, brother.”

Liu Futong, upon hearing this, looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Jiusi, then I’ll leave first too. Let me know if anything comes up.”

Chen Jie nodded gently at these words and said, ”Alright.”

At this moment, Zhu Chongba came over and looked at Chen Jie, saying, ”Brother Jiu Si, I owe you a personal favor for this ginseng. I, Zhu Chongba, will repay you.”

Chen Jie looked at Zhu Chongba upon hearing this and said, ”No need to repay.”

Zhu Chongba shook his head and said, ”Brother Jiu Si, let’s not beat around the bush. You and I both bear the Heavenly Mandate. Perhaps in the future, there will be a battle, but no matter who wins or loses, that will have to wait until we’ve overthrown Baomian to discuss anything else.”

”So until then, you and I are still brothers.”

Chen Jie looked at Zhu Chongba without saying anything. Zhu Chongba continued, ”And as true brothers, we must keep clear accounts. In our matter, I only seek a clear conscience. Now, having taken your old ginseng for free, if we truly cross swords in the future, I’ll feel guilty and uneasy. So I hope that even if we become opponents, it will be a vigorous and satisfying battle!”

Understanding Zhu Chongba’s meaning, Chen Jie looked at him and said, ”Alright, if you want to help me, then do me a favor.”

”Speak.”

Chen Jie said, ”Azure Dragon Street, you know it, right? Stay there for now, and tomorrow help me with a fight, and we’ll call it even.”

Zhu Chongba responded, ”A fight? What if it doesn’t come to blows?”

Chen Jie said, ”Whether it comes to blows or not, we’ll consider it even.”

Zhu Chongba said, ”Alright, it’s a deal.”

”It’s a deal.”

After saying this, Zhu Chongba turned back and had Xu Da take the troops away first, then he and Chang Yuchun entered the city.

Chen Jie watched Zhu Chongba enter the city, feeling relieved, thinking that things were proceeding quite smoothly.

Immediately after, Chen Jie turned to Zhao Ya and Wang Baobao and said, ”Alright, let’s not wait here any longer, let’s mount!”

Zhao Ya and Wang Baobao looked at Chen Jie in confusion and asked, ”Where are we going?”

”Talk while we ride, by the way, do you have that ’Eight Thousand Line Descriptions’ with you?”

Chen Jie looked at Wang Baobao, who said, ”Yes.”

At this point, Chen Jie, on horseback, saw Du Xiong along with Ah Da, Ah Er, and Ah San approaching, and said, ”You all go ahead with Zhang Dingbian to Cangzhou Prefecture and wait for us. If things go smoothly, we should be able to head south to Cangzhou Prefecture tomorrow.”

Zhang Dingbian heard this and looked at Chen Jie and said, ”I...”

Chen Jie looked at him and said, ”We’ll talk when we return, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go~”

Chen Jie galloped on horseback, with Zhao Ya and Wang Baobao following. On the road, Wang Baobao asked, ”Yaya, what is Chen Jiusi planning to do?”

Zhao Ya replied, ”To find Hama.”

”Hama?”

Wang Baobao was taken aback. What’s the point of looking for him now? But he quickly realized, yes, finding Hama is right. Now, the only one who can see the Emperor is the Old Chancellor Hama.

Thinking about it, Wang Baobao looked in the direction they were heading, which was indeed towards the Ancestor Mausoleum, wasn’t it?

Hama had been deceived by Tuotuo, in the name of the Emperor, into going to the Ancestor Mausoleum to pray for blessings for the Emperor, and was supposed to return to the capital tomorrow, right?

At this point, Wang Baobao said, ”Yaya, according to Hama’s schedule, he should be able to return to the city tonight, right?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Ya replied, ”He should be, after all, tomorrow is the Emperor’s birthday. If he doesn’t wash up and refresh himself after traveling such a long way, it would be quite disrespectful!”

Upon hearing this, Wang Baobao said, ”So at this time, he’s not coming back?”

Chen Jie then turned back and said, ”I realized something was wrong a long time ago. Hama should have already returned, but he hasn’t, so I suspect that Tuotuo has obstructed him on his way back.”

”However, I’m not too concerned about it, since our ultimate goal is to rescue Ruyang King. According to my plan, Hama’s line can be set aside.”

”But who would have thought, now the Prince is unwilling to leave, so Hama cannot be neglected. Hopefully, we’re still in time.”

”In time, what do you mean?”

Wang Baobao looked at Chen Jie, confused.

Chen Jie said, ”What I mean is, if I were Tuotuo, I wouldn’t let Hama return to the capital alive.”

”Ah!”

Wang Baobao was shocked upon hearing this and said, ”No way, would he really be so ruthless?”

Chen Jie said, ”After our commotion, the Emperor’s trust in Tuotuo has reached a freezing point. If Hama returns to the capital now, it would be a huge blow to him, and Hama wouldn’t miss this opportunity.”

”So Tuotuo’s current thought must be how to get rid of Hama, thus eliminating a dangerous opponent and at least giving him some time to react.”

”At this moment, he absolutely cannot allow chaos within the court.”

Upon hearing this, Wang Baobao said, ”But Hama, the Old Lord, is still a former Right Minister. Can they really just kill him? What about the investigation afterward?”

Chen Jie said, ”Tuotuo is now desperate. If he can eliminate the threat in its infancy, he won’t hesitate. Taking some risks for this is also acceptable.”

”Even if the Emperor no longer trusts him, he can just submit a document, claiming that Hama encountered mountain bandits or rebels on the way back and was killed. At that point, with no evidence, who would know?”

Upon hearing this, Wang Baobao looked at Chen Jie and said, ”This, how can it be so frivolous!”

Chen Jie responded, ”Frivolous, haha, this world, it’s fundamentally just a giant makeshift troupe.”
