Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Deep within Blazing Yellow Heaven Pit, inside a vast underground cave glowing crimson in every direction, a colossal beast crashed heavily onto the ground, causing the surrounding rock walls to tremble.

Its body was as large as a mountain, resembling a giant scorpion wrapped in blood-black flames. Fire surged endlessly across its shell like flowing liquid, while dark red crystal plates reflected the surrounding sea of magma.

Its long scorpion tail rose high behind it, ending in a sharp blood-black barb surrounded by dense fire poison that distorted the air around it.

At the front, a pair of gigantic reddish-gold pincers slowly opened and closed. Their surfaces were covered in hexagonal flame crystals, brilliant and razor-sharp, radiating a terrifying pressure as though anything caught between them would be crushed instantly.

The giant scorpion remained motionless within the sea of fire, yet the aura pouring from its body spread across the entire cave like a blazing tide.

Sun Cu stood not far away, looking thoroughly exhausted. Several parts of his robe had been burned through, dust covered his body, and even his breathing was uneven. He let out a long breath before speaking.

”The Molten Flame Scorpion truly deserves its reputation as a desolate beast. This battle consumed more than twenty beads of green grape immortal essence alone. Fortunately, it didn’t possess any wild Immortal Gu. Otherwise, even the two of us might not have been able to kill it.”

The entire underground cave had already been reduced to ruins. The ground was split apart by fire, magma flowed through broken stone like red rivers, and flames still clung to the shattered walls. The entire place looked as though it had been torn apart by a natural disaster.

Lin Yan sat cross-legged amidst the wreckage, quietly adjusting his breathing. His face was pale, and his aura was far weaker than before.

A few days earlier, he had asked Sun Cu to help him hunt a Flame Path desolate beast. Its body would serve as the core material for refining Three Flavors Otherworldly Flame Immortal Gu.

After searching through Blazing Yellow Heaven Pit, they eventually found the most suitable target—the Molten Flame Scorpion.

The battle that followed was far more difficult than either of them had expected. The creature’s shell was harder than refined metal, its flames carried terrifying fire poison, and every strike from its pincers shook the entire cave.

Fortunately, Lin Yan had already perfected Six-Armed Divine Fire Yama. Using more than twenty Rank 5 Flame Path Gu as its foundation, together with the endless fire energy filling Blazing Yellow Heaven Pit, he was able to maintain the killer move at full power without worrying about exhausting his primeval essence.

Inside this special environment, his combat strength was almost equal to half an Immortal. With Lin Yan fighting from the front while Sun Cu supported from the side, the two of them were finally able to bring down the Molten Flame Scorpion after a bitter battle.

Lin Yan felt quite satisfied inwardly. This battle had allowed him to clearly test the limits of Six-Armed Divine Fire Yama for the first time. Against the Molten Flame Scorpion, its performance had exceeded even his expectations.

Inevitably, Fang Yuan’s Six-Armed Heavenly Zombie King surfaced in his mind. Back then, that killer move had already shaken Gu Immortals using only seven Rank 5 Gu as its core. Compared to it, Six-Armed Divine Fire Yama had long surpassed that level.

After resting briefly and stabilizing his breathing, Lin Yan opened his eyes and looked toward Sun Cu. ”There’s no need to be concerned over the immortal essence. Once I ascend, I’ll naturally repay what was spent today.”

Lin Yan naturally understood Sun Cu’s meaning. Ever since becoming a Gu Immortal, Sun Cu had become much more cautious regarding immortal essence expenditure. That was only natural. To a Gu Immortal, every bead of immortal essence was tied directly to cultivation, battle strength, and future progress. No one could spend it carelessly.

Hearing this, Sun Cu’s expression eased slightly. He glanced at the enormous corpse of the Molten Flame Scorpion sprawled across the ruined cave and said, ”Even now, I still don’t fully understand why you insist on refining an Immortal Gu before ascending. But this desolate beast alone would be worth around forty immortal essence stones if sold. Even keeping the corpse would already be enough to lay a strong foundation after your ascension.”

Lin Yan smiled faintly. ”That may be true, but the Molten Flame Scorpion is the most suitable core material I could find for refining Three Flavors Otherworldly Flame Immortal Gu. If I miss this chance, finding another like it later won’t be easy.”

Even if it meant carrying a heavy debt before ascending to Immortal Rank, Lin Yan did not mind in the slightest. Instead, he felt fortunate. Being able to gather the materials needed for refining an Immortal Gu this smoothly was already far better than he had expected. And now that everything was finally in place, he could at last begin the refinement of Three Flavors Otherworldly Flame Immortal Gu.
