Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

After that, Lin Yan carefully examined the feeding requirements of the four Gu worms. To his surprise, they were all relatively easy to raise, immediately increasing his interest even further.

Spirit Fire Gu contained Blood Path profundities, so the materials needed to feed it were naturally Blood Path materials.

And what counted as Blood Path materials?

The blood, flesh, and bones of living creatures. Because of this, Spirit Fire Gu was actually very easy to raise. It perfectly reflected the terrifying nature of Blood Path, a path that excelled in slaughter and accumulation, using overwhelming quantities to produce frightening results.

Essence Fire Gu was different. It incorporated Human Path profundities and required primeval essence as food.

As for Heart Fire Gu was slightly more troublesome. Since it contained Soul Path profundities, it needed animal souls as nourishment.

At the very end of the inheritance, there was even a speculative Immortal Gu recipe recorded within it. It involved fusing the three flames into a single Immortal Gu known as Three Flavors Otherworldly Flame Immortal Gu.

Once this flame appeared, anything related to essence, energy, or spirit would be completely incinerated.

The origin of this Immortal Gu recipe came from a Gu Immortal killer move called Three Flavors Flame, a powerful mortal killer move formed through the combination of hundreds of Gu worms.

After reading all of this, Lin Yan completely made up his mind. He would enter long-term seclusion, refine the four Gu worms, fully comprehend the entire inheritance, perfect the Rank 5 recipe for Fusion Fire Gu, and perhaps even deduce an Immortal Gu recipe of his own.

Lin Yan wanted to personally refine a Real Flame Path Immortal Gu. Of course, deducing an Immortal Gu recipe was destined to be extremely difficult, but he was still full of confidence. Lin Yan possessed Master attainment in both Flame Path and Refinement Path, giving him extremely sharp intuition when deducing Flame Path Immortal Gu recipes. If he truly succeeded, the attainment of both paths would rise dramatically.

During the very first month alone, Lin Yan accumulated nearly a full year of deduction and refinement experience inside the dream realm. He repeatedly refined the Gu worms recorded within the Three Flavors Flame true inheritance, continuously testing, adjusting, and improving the recipes. After countless attempts, he finally completed the Rank 5 refinement recipe for Fusion Fire Gu.

The final result perfectly combined the concepts behind Fusion Fire Gu and Replenishing Fire Gu. Lin Yan officially named it Rank 5 Control Flame Gu.

After returning to reality, he successively refined Rank 5 Control Flame Gu, Scarlet Dragon Flame Armor Gu, Heart Fire Gu, Spirit Fire Gu, and Essence Fire Gu, causing his combat strength to rise once again.

At the same time, he also used the semi-finished materials prepared for Sun Cu’s Immortal Gu as practical training for his own refinement techniques. As his experience deepened further, refining Rank 5 Gu gradually became smoother and more effortless for him.

As for Gu materials, with a Gu Immortal supporting him from behind, such problems were no longer worth worrying about.

However, Lin Yan did not immediately begin deducing a Flame Path Immortal Gu recipe further. Instead, he chose to first focus on developing Self Will Gu. This Gu worm was extremely important to Lin Yan. Its purpose was to cleanse one’s own will and resist the influence of Heaven’s Will.

He had already lived in this world for many years. Although he constantly examined his own thoughts and remained cautious of changes in his mental state, it was still impossible to completely avoid the influence of Heaven’s Will.

This was especially true during Immortal Ascension, when Heaven’s Will gathered densely within the tribulation and earthly calamity. If one was careless, they could easily become influenced without even realizing it.

However, Lin Yan knew that as an Otherworldly Demon, Heaven’s Will could not directly read his thoughts or influence him the same way it influenced native Gu Masters. To affect him, it needed to rely on various indirect factors and long-term accumulation.

Even so, he still had to remain extremely cautious after becoming a Gu Immortal.

This was because immortal essence stones were artificially created by Heavenly Court with the help of Heaven’s Will and Immemorial Desolate Beasts. Because of this, every immortal essence stone naturally contained traces of Heaven’s Will within it.

Under normal circumstances, this influence was extremely weak and almost impossible to detect. A Gu Immortal refining only a small amount of immortal essence would usually notice nothing unusual at all.

However, after absorbing large quantities over many years, the influence of Heaven’s Will would gradually accumulate and slowly begin affecting one’s thoughts and judgment.

The problem was that immortal essence stones were among the most important resources of every Gu Immortal and were usually stored directly inside the immortal aperture itself. This meant Gu Immortals remained in constant contact with Heaven’s Will throughout their cultivation.

Given enough time, even a powerful Gu Immortal could unknowingly drift along the direction arranged by Heaven’s Will and eventually become just another pawn within its grand scheme..

Even if Lin Yan did not deduce Self Will Gu now, he would still need to create it sooner or later after becoming a Gu Immortal.
