Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Self Will Gu, Shadow Sect, and Spectral Soul Demon Venerable were all connected to the deepest darkness hidden within the Gu World.

The main story of the original novel was actually quite straightforward. After Spectral Soul Demon Venerable died, he secretly remained dormant within the Door of Life and Death. Hidden there, he continuously devoured the souls of experts who died across the Five Regions, using their memories and attainments to rapidly increase his own foundation.

Over countless years, his attainment in nearly every path reached the Great Grandmaster level.

His ultimate goal was to defy Heaven itself and achieve a second rebirth. For this purpose, he attempted to refine the Rank 10 Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu and completely seize control of the Gu World.

During this process, his seven split souls gradually discovered the existence of Heaven’s Will. No matter what plans they made, unexpected accidents and disturbances would always appear, as though the entire world itself was deliberately opposing them.

Because of this, Spectral Soul specifically created Self Will Gu to resist the influence and interference of Heaven’s Will.

In Fang Yuan’s first life, Spectral Soul had actually succeeded.

At that time, even the other Venerables and Heaven’s Court could only helplessly watch as he moved freely throughout the world.

Even though Spectral Soul became the strongest existence in the first timeline and even seized control of Heavenly Court, he still wasn’t able to destroy Fate Gu, Heaven’s greatest weapon.

The reason was simple. He was still only half an Otherworldly Demon.

After witnessing Spectral Soul’s rise, Heaven’s Will secretly manipulated Fang Yuan into refining Spring Autumn Cicada and returning five hundred years into the past. At the same time, several Venerables also secretly pushed events from the shadows, ultimately causing Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s plans to collapse in the end.

Even so, the terrifying vastness of Heaven’s Will did not diminish the brilliance of Self Will Gu in the slightest.

Unfortunately, Lin Yan lacked too many necessary foundations. As a result, his attempts to recreate it had failed again and again.

Within the dream realm, Lin Yan slowly raised his head and looked toward the countless colorful dream realms floating around him. Inside those dreams were fragments of his own memories, countless scenes from his previous life flickering endlessly like scattered reflections of light.

Looking at them, Lin Yan gradually sank into deep thought. Was the essence of Dream Derivation not formed from his own dreams?

And did dreams not naturally reflect a part of one’s true self? In a certain sense, Dream Path itself already touched upon some of the profound mysteries of the Human Path.

Human Path, in a narrow sense, studies the human body itself. In a broader sense, however, it encompasses the ”self” of all living beings.

Dream Path, meanwhile, possessed the mysterious ability to turn dreams into reality. If explored deeply enough, creating Dream Path Gu worms capable of resisting Heaven’s Will might not be impossible at all.

Previously, Lin Yan had temporarily set aside Dream Path cultivation in order to help refine Immortal Gu materials for Sun Cu. As a result, during this year and a half, a large number of dreams had quietly accumulated.

He first spent six months’ worth of accumulated dreams to refine Rank 4 Sleepwalking Gu and Dream Awakening Gu, replacing Soul Travel Gu and Clear Mind Gu. Together with Dream Derivation Gu, they formed an entirely new killer move, while still leaving behind a considerable amount of unused dream energy.

Afterward, Lin Yan sent his phantom into the dream realms, continuously searching for suitable Dream Path materials while attempting to create entirely new Gu worms.

This time, the process went far more smoothly than Lin Yan had expected. Perhaps the countless failures and accumulated experience from the previous three months had finally begun to bear fruit.,

After that, Lin Yan spent half a month carrying out repeated experiments. During this period, the constant experiments placed an enormous burden on his soul, forcing him to repeatedly purchase Soul Path Gu worms to recover and heal himself.

After countless attempts, he finally succeeded in creating a completely new Gu worm.

Inside the quiet room, Lin Yan sat cross-legged with his eyes closed. Countless thoughts drifted through his mind like floating bubbles while three dreamlike Gu worms quietly hovered before him.

Besides Sleepwalking Gu and Dream Awakening Gu, there was now a third Gu worm.

Its shell was translucent like glass, while shifting seven-colored mist continuously flowed across its surface, vaguely forming the outline of a human face from time to time.

”Rank 4 Self Dream Gu.”

Looking at it, Lin Yan could not help feeling emotional. This was a Dream Path Gu worm that also contained Human Path effects. It could consume dreams to cleanse both the soul and body while resisting the subtle influence of Heaven’s Will.

Without hesitation, Lin Yan immediately activated Self Dream Gu. A seven-colored dreamlike radiance quietly spread outward from his mind, flowing across his dark red soul before gradually washing through every part of his body.

Lin Yan’s entire body suddenly became illusory. Faint seven-colored light drifted around him like flowing clouds, making him appear unreal and ethereal.

As Self Dream Gu activated, countless dreamlike thoughts quietly emerged within his mind, intertwining together and forming an invisible layer around his consciousness.

Lin Yan instantly felt his mind become much clearer and calmer. He had finally resolved the hidden problem of Heaven’s Will, causing him to let out a long sigh of relief.

Although the entire process had consumed an enormous amount of time and effort, it was absolutely worth it. At the very least, the possibility of unexpected interference in the future would now be greatly reduced.

During this period of creating new Gu worms, Lin Yan also accumulated considerable experience in Soul Path, Dream Path, and Human Path. However, none of those attainments advanced further and still remained at the Ordinary level.

Fortunately, the gains were still tremendous. Whether it was Pseudo Soul Gu or Self Dream Gu, both were extremely outstanding Gu worms. In a certain sense, they also counted as a form of foundation accumulation, similar to Creation Relic Gu and Obstacle-Breaking Relic Gu.

After settling this matter, Lin Yan finally turned his full attention toward his final and most important objective.

Creating a Flame Path Immortal Gu recipe.
