Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

”Self Will Gu is essentially a Wisdom Path Gu worm.”

”The three foundations of the Wisdom Path are thoughts, wills, and emotions. Any Gu related to those three concepts is almost certainly connected to Wisdom Path.”

Lin Yan frowned deeply as he considered the problem. He was not familiar with Wisdom Path at all.

Fortunately, Self Will Gu also involved Human Path profundities, and his Human

Path attainment had already reached the Quasi-Master level.

Afterward, Lin Yan asked Sun Cu to help him acquire mortal-grade Wisdom Path inheritances. However, he honestly did not hold much hope. Wisdom Path inheritances were simply too rare.

Even in the original novel, Fang Yuan had spent a long time searching for Wisdom Path inheritances after becoming a Rank 6 zombie before finally obtaining only a fragment of mortal-grade inheritance.

After that, Lin Yan once again immersed himself within the dream realm. He continuously carried out deductions, repeatedly attempting to dissect the structure of human apertures while researching Creation Relic Gu. At the same time, he also experimented with decomposing souls in an attempt to study the structure of Self Will Gu.

By the time three months had passed in reality, nearly five years had already gone by within the dream realm.

Yet Lin Yan still failed to create the recipe for Self Will Gu. Inside the dream realm, Lin Yan sat quietly with a heavy expression. In his hand was a completely black Gu worm that constantly twisted and changed shape.

After staring at it for a long time, he finally muttered to himself, ”It seems my research direction was wrong.”

However, the years spent deducing were not completely without results. What he ultimately created was a Gu worm called Pseudo Soul Gu, a Soul Path Gu capable of disguising soul fluctuations and altering the external aura of a soul into different forms. Even among Soul Path Gu worms, it could be considered a fairly excellent support-type Gu.

At the same time, Lin Yan’s own Soul Path foundation also improved greatly. Although he still had not reached Quasi-Master attainment in Soul Path, he was already extremely close.

Even so, Lin Yan still felt troubled.

The biggest problem was that all the souls he had researched until now belonged to other people. No matter how deeply he studied them, they could never truly represent his own ”self.”

Human Path placed enormous importance on individuality and self-awareness. Since Self Will Gu involved both the concepts of ”self” and ”will,” using the souls of others as research material was fundamentally flawed from the very beginning. And without a Wisdom Path inheritance, Lin Yan’s research once again fell into a complete bottleneck.

Gradually, a dangerous thought surfaced within Lin Yan’s mind. Could he truly be ruthless enough to dissect his own soul?

Inside the dream realm, Lin Yan fell silent. His gaze remained fixed on the constantly shifting dreamscape as countless thoughts rapidly flashed through his mind.

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck his mind. Dream Derivation Gu activated once again, causing countless thoughts to collide and intertwine rapidly within his head.

At that moment, Lin Yan suddenly realized something. Since the requirements for researching Human Path and Wisdom Path were so demanding, why did he have to stubbornly remain confined to those two paths?

Could he not instead rely on his own greatest advantage? And what was his greatest advantage?

Naturally, it was the Dream Path.

Dream Derivation Gu was an heaven-defying Gu worm. However, ever since advancing it to Rank 4 and Rank 5, Lin Yan had gradually shifted his focus away from Dream Path.

There was no helping it. Since he had already decided to walk the Flame Path during Immortal Ascension, even if Dream Derivation Gu possessed astonishing abilities, he still had to temporarily place Dream Path aside and devote most of his attention toward Flame Path cultivation.

”But now, his research into Self Will Gu had reached a complete dead end. Without sufficient Human Path and Wisdom Path foundations, he could only search for another direction.

”Self Will Gu was originally created by Shadow Sect, and behind Shadow Sect stood Spectral Soul Demon Venerable.”

”Different people specialize in different things. There is no need for me to follow the exact same path.”

”Even completely different Gu worms can still achieve similar effects.”
