Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

Lin Yan re-entered the dream and found that the sky had become higher and the land much broader. The entire space had expanded to its limit, almost like an illusory blessed land, while the time ratio remained the same at twenty to one.

”The Rank 3 Dream Derivation Gu simulated dao marks and allowed me to create the Creation Relic Gu. The Rank 4 version gave inspiration, helping me reach Master attainment in flight and develop killer moves. Then what will Rank 5 bring?”

He felt a trace of anticipation. Closing his eyes, he focused, and the scene before him suddenly changed. The space split apart into an independent dream field, wrapped in seven-colored light, forming one scene after another.

An endless desert appeared first. Two figures were chasing and fleeing. In the sky, a golden-winged Cloud Bird soared with overwhelming presence, while on the ground, a youth transformed into a Divine Fire Yama and counterattacked.

Lin Yan’s expression changed slightly. This was clearly the scene of Zhang Bai chasing him. It was a real memory—so why had it turned into a dream?

At this moment, Lin Yan felt that his consciousness could enter that cluster of seven-colored dreams at any time, as if it was calling him.

”Wait... could it be creating dreams for me to explore and collect Dream Path Gu materials and Gu worms?”

He suddenly recalled something. After the Great Era arrived, the safest and most stable way to obtain Dream Path resources was to enter one’s own dreams. It was controllable and carried far less risk.

In the original novel, Fang Yuan relied on this method to condense Dream Path Gu worms and gradually build powerful Dream Path killer moves.

After transmigrating, Lin Yan had also thought about using this method, but the original work never explained the details clearly, so he had no way to replicate it.

Now it was different. Dream Derivation Gu directly created dreams related to him, allowing him to search for rare Dream Path Gu worms within them.

”So that’s the meaning of Dream Derivation... isn’t it just deriving dreams?”

Lin Yan suddenly understood. Dream Path mortal Gu usually did not appear in the real world. They existed within the mind and consciousness. Only Dream Path Immortal Gu had a stable physical form.

Yet Dream Derivation Gu, as a mortal Gu, could exist independently inside his aperture. At first, he thought this was due to its special origin, but now he realized something deeper.

The essence of Dream Derivation Gu was itself a dream. And dreams could take form.

”This is my dream.”

At that moment, he also understood why he could train, deduce Gu usage, and develop killer moves inside dreams. ”That’s good... very good.”

Lin Yan felt a rare excitement. Before, he had planned to slowly gather Wisdom Path and Soul Path Gu to build Dream Path killer moves. Now, he did not need to rely on those paths anymore.

Dream Path Gu were the best match for Dream Derivation Gu. In the next moment, his consciousness moved forward and directly entered the cluster of seven-colored dreams.

Time passed, and a month went by in a flash.

Inside the Gu Refinement shop, Lin Yan sat quietly, meditating with his eyes closed. In his mind, countless thoughts rose and fell like bubbles, while a thumb-sized Gu worm floated before him. Its shell was golden-emerald and crystal-like, clearly a Dream Path mortal Gu.

He slowly opened his eyes, his gaze thoughtful. ”After more than ten days of testing, I finally understand its ability. It’s similar to Soul Travel Gu, but instead of affecting the soul, it targets consciousness. For now, I’ll call it Rank 3 Sleepwalking Gu.”

During this month, Lin Yan explored the dream realm and discovered several key points.

First, Dream Derivation Gu was still only Rank 5. Even though it used his own dreams, it was not limitless. The number of Dream Path materials and Gu worms it could produce was restricted.

On average, he could obtain one Rank 3 Dream Path mortal Gu per month. If he wanted a Rank 4 Dream Path Gu, he would need to accumulate results for three months.

Secondly, the peculiar nature of Dream Path lay in how thoughts could shape outcomes, just like the saying: what one thinks by day appears in dreams at night.

Lin Yan wanted Gu worms that could match Dream Derivation Gu and form the killer moves Clear Dream and Dream Imprisonment. As expected, the Gu he obtained from exploring the dream realm fit perfectly into these killer moves, greatly increasing their power.

”Not bad... the foundation of Dream Path is already taking shape.”

He felt quite pleased. Dream Derivation Gu was simply too useful. At one point, he even considered walking the Dream Path all the way to Immortal Ascension.

But he quickly calmed down. That path was not realistic for now. To compete for the position of Great Dream Immortal Venerable in the Great Era, one had to ascend with the Pure Dream True Physique. Transforming one’s physique to that level was far too difficult under current conditions.

Lin Yan did not dwell on it. He chose a more practical route and decided to first reach Immortal Ascension through Flame Path.

Just as Lin Yan was thinking about his future path, a familiar figure appeared at the doorway. It was the black-clothed man who had previously come to request Gu refinement.

The man spoke in a hoarse voice, ”Are the two Gu I requested for ready?”
