Ning An's Wild Wish System

”Stop spewing nonsense!”

”Some things you don’t understand, so don’t talk recklessly!”

”Where is fifty-eight thousand and eight hundred expensive? This has always been the price for so many years. Don’t talk nonsense with your eyes open. It’s really hard for us women, it’s always been fifty-eight thousand and eight hundred for so many years, where’s the expense in that?

Sometimes look within yourself, alright? Has your salary increased over the years, have you been working hard to earn money?”

”First marriage thirty-eight thousand and eight hundred, second marriage fifty-eight thousand and eight hundred, it’s always been our tradition, you talk about tradition all the time, why don’t you look at our tradition here!”

”This bride price is the rule here, don’t make a mess!”

Following the old woman’s statement, the fig leaf covering Gan Province was completely torn off.

The live stream room erupted into a commotion.

The viewers in Ning An’s live stream room are from all over the country, near and far, including places with high bride price demands.

But even they, hearing this woman’s words, were stunned.

They never imagined that there could be places with bride prices higher than theirs!

Even sky-high!

The barrage in the live stream was like a bombardment, completely drowning the room.

”If I have this money, why not give it to my parents? Why not enjoy it myself? Am I an idiot?”

”Buy a car for myself, yes, it can’t stay with me for a lifetime, but it will be with me always. A car can’t give me children, but it also won’t give birth to someone else’s children.”

”We don’t have this bride-price thing here. Always thought it was something from the Qing Dynasty. After going to college, I heard from classmates from other places that this thing still exists in the twenty-first century [facepalm].”

”Guest: Where’s my beef ball?

Waiter: Our chef is warming up, only the best muscle condition can pound out the finest beef balls!”

”Damn! Sakiko always thought he wasn’t trying hard enough, always thought he was pulling the cart too slowly, without realizing the societal issues!”

”Bro, wait, don’t self-deprecate first. At least Sakiko has a Capital City household registration, a wealthy wife, his own car, and a house to shelter from the storm.”

”Damn it!”

”Looking at it this way, Gan Province is incredible! Could it be that Gan Province falsified its GDP every year, and is actually the most developed area in Dragon Country and even the world, otherwise how come this fifty-eight thousand and eight hundred is spoken so lightly.”

”Alright! Alright! I wondered why the folks from Gan Province kept complaining outwardly, turns out they were keeping the wealth among themselves! Secretly getting rich without including us, angry!”

With voices like these in the live stream room, naturally, there are opposing voices.

”Don’t disgust people! That was originally my bride price money, why shouldn’t it be given to me?”

Especially the first comment, which completely stunned countless on-site viewers.

”No, why do you think the bride price means the woman’s private property?”

The person answered quickly:

”Bride price, dowry, are all the woman’s pre-marital property; the man has no right to interfere!”

This sentence made most of the netizens in the comment section laugh.

But such statements did not stop in the comment section.

”Since this custom of bride price can be passed down, it must have its reason!”

”Exactly, we women are inherently the weaker side, if there’s no bride price, how can we protect our rightful interests!”

”We women are naturally weak, what’s up with you men, can’t you give us a little leeway?”

”We give birth to children for men, and also have to face mother-in-law conflicts, swallow our pride at home, and the child has to carry the man’s surname, why?”

”...”

Seeing these comments, a big brother couldn’t help jumping out.

”Girl, first you need to understand, the matter of bride price is caused by ancient marriage rules.

First: In ancient times only the man could propose a divorce, the woman didn’t have that power;

Second: Blind marriages, getting married before seeing each other or knowing if they’d get along, satisfaction unknown, purely luck-based;

Third, collecting bride price is to prevent the man’s regret having a negative impact on the woman—basically, if the man regrets or divorces, the woman couldn’t get married again, so a sum of money was needed to prevent these adverse situations for the woman.

But now these problems do not exist, the meaning of bride price has diminished, so bride price should adjust with social progress, less or none is best.”

What this big brother said was reasonable, but to these women, it’s blatant provocation, an insult to their characters!

”What are you babbling on about? Can’t understand, all I understand is that bride price must be given, how can not giving bride price show his love for me!”

”Normally you guys objectify us left and right, when it comes to marriage you play this card, disgusting or not?”

”Bride price must be given! Who gets a wife without giving bride price today? It must be the woman’s pre-marital property, regardless of the reason for a breakup, the man has no right to take it back!”

”...”

Watching these comments, people’s blood pressure in the live stream room rose.

Many viewers originally maintaining a wait-and-see attitude, jumped into the fray.

”Hilarious! When it comes to ancient rules and virtues, you say the Great Qing died early! When talking about marriage bride price, you say the Great Qing is alive again! You don’t mention matching dowry, but talk loudest about men supporting families, bravo.”

”Honestly, sixty thousand can be used to start a business, become your own boss, think about money making money. You say, do normal people consider using this money as startup capital or just flushing it down [facepalm]?”
