Chapter 2677: Chapter 2677: Maybe... She’s Sick

An Jiuyue listened to the secret guards report, saying that Gong Jian, along with Prefect He and others, had once again found a significant amount of money in the Prince’s Mansion, and she chuckled lightly.

”He’s handled many cases over the years.”

Qian Jiyun commented that after dealing with so many corruption cases, finding hidden silver was as easy as picking low-hanging fruit.

According to the secret guards, Gong Jian, with soldiers from the City Defense Force, smashed several walls of the Prince’s Mansion, uncovering a lot of hidden money within them. Moreover, they even discovered a secret chamber that had not been found before, which surprisingly contained a substantial amount of military supplies.

Additionally, they found a court robe once worn by the Crown Prince, in the courtyard where the Fifteenth Prince used to reside.

The things being discovered one after another truly astonished the soldiers of the City Defense Force. Previously, it was also them searching; how come they never thought those places could hide things?

”This Dowager Consort Yu and her son, it seems they’re really planning a rebellion, but there’s something I don’t quite understand.” An Jiuyue rubbed her chin with one hand, looking at Qian Jiyun.

”Hmm?”

Qian Jiyun looked at her, raising an eyebrow.

The weapons were all ready, and Gong Jian believed it wouldn’t be long before private troops would also be found. What was there not to understand?

”Jiyun, do you think Dowager Consort Yu is out of her mind? The Retired Emperor is still in the palace, not free, why didn’t she think of making her son the Emperor, instead of just wanting the Fifteenth Prince to be the Crown Prince?”

An Jiuyue expressed her doubt, pointing out that everything outside the palace depended on others for the Retired Emperor. If Dowager Consort Yu managed things properly, who knows, everything might have been different?

Although, in their view, no matter what is done would make no difference, it is impossible to succeed.

But from Dowager Consort Yu’s perspective, she might believe under her assistance, her son could successfully rebel and take the throne.

But the odd thing is, instead of making a robe for her son as Emperor, she made a coat for a Crown Prince. Isn’t that foolish?

One must know, a Crown Prince and an Emperor are not the same. Once an Emperor, unless through rebellion, cannot be replaced, but a Crown Prince can be replaced at any time, especially with someone like the Retired Emperor, who is capricious and could replace anyone close to him on a whim.

”Maybe... she’s just crazy.” Qian Jiyun laughed.

...

That night, An Jiuyue contacted the Emperor and recounted the events that occurred after Gong Jian arrived in Ying City, including discovering an amount of military equipment enough to arm tens of thousands of soldiers.

Of course, the weaponry wasn’t all found in the Prince’s Mansion, only three thousand pieces were discovered there. The rest were identified after Gong Jian interrogated the confidants of Dowager Consort Yu and the Fifteenth Prince at the Prince’s Mansion.

”Thousands of pieces of military equipment, what a bold move!”

The Emperor’s gaze was stern as he looked into the distance. If he hadn’t exerted significant restraint, he truly would have wanted to go to the Supreme Palace to question the Retired Emperor, questioning whether he thought the Daqing Kingdom was too stable right now.

”Your Majesty, what did you say?”

Eunuch Fu had just come in with tea and heard the Emperor mumbling but didn’t catch it clearly.

But he could feel the chilling pressure emanating from the Emperor, almost suffocating him. Who had angered the Emperor this time?

However, he didn’t need to think too much to know it must have been the Retired Emperor. Recently, the Emperor often got angry with the Retired Emperor, although he didn’t understand where the Emperor got his information, the things done by the Retired Emperor were indeed bone-chilling.
