Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2654: Chapter 2654: Sensing Something Amiss

Henceforth, the Emperor would not even spare a sliver of dignity for the Retired Emperor, directly confining him to the Cold Palace.

Of course, they dared not speak ill of this, holding a Retired Emperor with the Soul Extermination Sect in hand; who wouldn’t be afraid? Best to let him enter the Supreme Palace, cutting off all contact with the outside world, perhaps.

”The Emperor is wise.”

The ministers could only utter these four words.

Wise indeed! If the Retired Emperor were allowed to communicate freely, who knows when their heads would roll?

...

By the time news from the royal court reached the Retired Emperor, it was already after noon.

For two days, no news had come from the Regency Hall. The Retired Emperor learned of the events only because Eunuch Fu had someone deliver the news and ordered the Retired Emperor’s transfer to the Supreme Palace.

”What, to the Supreme Palace?”

The Retired Emperor was utterly bewildered, for the Regency Hall and the Supreme Palace were vastly different.

Why should he be consigned to the Supreme Palace? That cursed place was akin to the concubines of the Inner Palace’s Cold Palace; apart from a few servants to attend to his needs, he would receive no other privileges.

”When did I ever say I wanted to go to the Supreme Palace? Let that ungrateful child come to see me, I want to ask him personally.” He cursed at the Imperial Edict Eunuch before him.

”Retired Emperor, see what you’re saying; you are the Retired Emperor and should naturally reside in the Supreme Palace. The Regency Hall was merely a temporary dwelling for you.”

The Imperial Edict Eunuch looked at the Retired Emperor with a cheerful smile, neither offending nor flattering, knowing too well that the Retired Emperor would never rise again in his lifetime.

”Previously, the Supreme Palace had not been properly cleaned, but now it has finally been cleansed, so Retired Emperor, please relocate there.”

”You... you...”

The Retired Emperor’s forehead veins throbbed as he glared at the opportunistic Imperial Edict Eunuch.

Since when could a lowly servant speak to him in such a manner? He was the Retired Emperor, the former Emperor, and there was no guarantee he wouldn’t rise again in the future.

”Bastard, what are you to dare speak to me like this? Guards, drag him out and beat him to death with sticks!” He ordered those outside the hall.

Yet, after a long time since he had spoken, remarkably, no one came in, and not a single footstep was heard outside.

He gritted his teeth, feeling as if he was on the verge of being enraged to death.

Even if he were truly moving to the Supreme Palace, he was still the Retired Emperor, and how dare those servants give him such perfunctory treatment? It was outrageous!

Yet, the very people he deemed worthy of death, he couldn’t do anything to them.

Is there anything more infuriating?

”What exactly does that ungrateful child want to do?” he gritted his teeth and asked.

Could it be that he already knew about the affairs in the Northern Lands? Impossible, he had conducted the matters there so covertly; how could they have been discovered?

Unless, Dowager Consort Yu and her son were careless in their doings and got exposed.

That possibility was quite real.

”Retired Emperor, please don’t delay any longer. Once this servant escorts you to the Supreme Palace, I must hurry back to report to the Emperor,” the Eunuch Proclaiming the Imperial Edict spoke no more idle words, making a fist with both hands and saluting his upper right.

”You—”

The Retired Emperor was furious, truly wishing he could take a sword and slay that damned lowly servant.

Sadly, at his side, there wasn’t even a decent weapon, no longer the emperor who could kill at will.

No, something’s wrong...

Suddenly, he felt something was amiss, and his heart skipped a beat.
