Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2653: Chapter 2653: Moving to the Supreme Palace to Enjoy One’s Twilight Years

”Yes, my lord.”

The servant withdrew and went to find Gong Qi.

...

Two days later, a major event occurred in the capital. The Yu Family, the maternal family of the Fifteenth Prince, was annihilated overnight, and the Yu Mansion was completely consumed by a fire.

However, the miscreants who wiped out the Yu Family ran into the patrolling City Defense Force and were surrounded by them.

It was the most mysterious assassin organization in the Daqing Kingdom, the Soul Extermination Organization, notorious for its atrocities. To annihilate the Yu Family, the Soul Extermination Sect dispatched all its elite members, only to be encircled by the City Defense Force, resulting in numerous casualties and not a single escape.

”Damn it!”

The Emperor sat on the Dragon Throne, looking at the memorial submitted by Minister Liu, who managed the black prison.

All members of the Soul Extermination Sect were imprisoned, and following the clues, the headquarters of the Soul Extermination Sect was discovered in a location in the suburbs of the capital. Their leader turned out to be someone very familiar to him.

He was once a secret guard of the Retired Emperor, a very skilled person whom he had always thought had died while protecting the Retired Emperor.

It was entirely unexpected that not only was this person alive, but he had also secretly organized such a sect, apparently to discreetly eliminate those who shouldn’t exist on behalf of the Retired Emperor.

”Your Majesty, please calm down.”

The officials knelt on the ground, trembling with fear, not daring to utter a word of persuasion, only daring to say these four words.

Although they said to calm down, how could such anger be pacified?

The Soul Extermination Sect was an organization in the hands of the Retired Emperor, which meant that when the Retired Emperor was the Emperor, he had already organized such a secret faction to handle those he disapproved of.

No wonder there had been so many assassinations in the capital in the past, resulting in the untimely deaths of many officials.

They had all thought it was those with ulterior motives and that the remarkable wisdom of the Retired Emperor had inspired the people to take action against those officials they disapproved of.

Who could have thought that it was the Retired Emperor secretly clearing obstacles for himself?

This Retired Emperor was truly terrifying, unable to tolerate anyone who had differences with him on political matters. Fortunately, he was now only the Retired Emperor and not a ruler with actual power.

”Calm down?”

The Emperor stood with his hands behind his back, gazing coldly at the officials below.

None of them uttered a single word, only asking him to calm down, but could such fury be easily quelled?

Although he had led this affair to have the Retired Emperor deal with the Yu Family, when the matter erupted and the past was uncovered, he truly found it difficult to calm his heart.

The assassinations in the capital were still vivid in everyone’s memory. What about other places? There were quite a few incidents, but the officials in the capital simply didn’t care.

”Announce my decree: the Retired Emperor is now advanced in age, and residing in the Regency Hall is no longer appropriate. Please let him move to the Supreme Palace to enjoy his later years in peace.” He issued the order in front of all the officials.

Upon hearing this, the officials were horrified, none daring to lift their heads.

The Regency Hall and the Supreme Palace are two completely different places. The Regency Hall signifies that even the Retired Emperor still has authority, able to influence the Emperor’s thoughts. Even if there is no real power, the Emperor still holds respect for the Retired Emperor.

However, the Supreme Palace, to put it nicely, is the residence of the Retired Emperor. To put it bluntly, it is actually a place of imprisonment, no different from the Cold Palace in the harem.
