Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Uncle, Are You Really Not Going?

Just as Ye Anxin was caught in a dilemma, Mu Beiting silently pushed the door open and walked in after finishing his meeting!

Ye Anxin was sleeping on the sofa, frowning slightly, completely unaware of the approaching footsteps!

Mu Beiting walked to her side, gazed down at her furrowed brows, and displeasedly asked, ”What are you thinking about?”

Ye Anxin, lost in her thoughts, was startled by the sudden voice and quickly looked up at Mu Beiting!

Seeing Mu Beiting’s displeased face, she hurriedly struggled to get up from the sofa!

Seeing this, Mu Beiting reached out and helped her up from the sofa!

After Ye Anxin sat properly, she smiled and asked, ”Uncle, you’re done with the meeting? When did you come back? I didn’t hear any footsteps!”

Mu Beiting persistently continued to ask, ”Because you were distracted! What were you thinking about that made you so lost?”

”Uh...!” Ye Anxin’s eyes flickered as she pondered how to start talking to Mu Beiting!

Taking in her expression, Mu Beiting grew even more displeased, ”Speak plainly!”

Ye Anxin smiled sweetly at Mu Beiting, reached out, pulled him to sit beside her, and, looping around his arm, tentatively said, ”Uncle, do you remember what day next Wednesday is?”

Mu Beiting cast his eyes down, thought for a moment, then decisively shook his head!

Expecting this answer, Ye Anxin felt not a bit surprised, gently began, and cautiously said, ”It’s the old man’s seventy-eighth birthday!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting’s previously calm face instantly darkened, a cloud overshadowing his expression!

Ye Anxin pursed her lips, knowing Mu Beiting was unhappy, but still had to brace herself and say, ”Uncle, I know you don’t like the Mu Family, but... the old man is your biological father after all! It’s his birthday; as his son, you should show some gesture! Otherwise, outsiders will talk!”

After Ye Anxin finished speaking, Mu Beiting remained silent for a long time!

After quite a while, he coldly spoke, ”Did he contact you?”

”...!” Ye Anxin hesitated for a moment, nodded, and truthfully said, ”Yes! The old man just called me, saying he couldn’t reach you and hoped I could persuade you to come back for a meal with him! He has no other requests; just wants the family to have a meal together! Uncle, the old man is already this old, and since he personally asked me, I couldn’t bear to refuse!”

”Hmph...!” Mu Beiting snorted coldly, raised an eyebrow, sneered, and questioned, ”Family?”

”...!” Ye Anxin didn’t speak, unsure of what to say, just looked blankly at Mu Beiting!

His reaction was entirely anticipated by her! In fact, she never felt that the Mu Family ever treated him as family!

Just hearing what Mu Mother said was enough for her to hope he would never have any ties with them again!

But... Mu Mother is Mu Mother, and the old man is the old man!

After all, the old man is his biological father, and to put it unpleasantly, no one knows how many years he has left!

If they don’t enjoy family happiness while people are still around, then will they regret it when he’s gone?

It’s precisely this thought that made her brace herself to speak up!

However, hearing the word ’family’ from his mouth made her heart feel sour and bitter!

Mu Beiting coldly said, ”Don’t bother with this matter. If he calls you again, just hang up!”

Upon hearing this, Ye Anxin still couldn’t help but persuade, ”Uncle, even if we don’t go back, we should buy a birthday gift for the old man! That way, he would feel better at least!”

Mu Beiting did not continue with this topic, glanced at his watch, stood up, picked Ye Anxin up from the sofa, and lightly said, ”Let’s go home!”

Ye Anxin immediately wrapped her arms around Mu Beiting’s neck, curiously asking, ”Are things at the company finished?”

”Yes!” Mu Beiting nodded and directly carried Ye Anxin out of the office!

Since it’s midsummer and the weather is hot, as a pregnant woman, Ye Anxin’s body temperature, along with the baby’s, easily made her sweaty with movement, so she mostly stayed indoors all day, reading with the air conditioning on!

Therefore, when Mu Beiting carried Ye Anxin out of the office, Ye Anxin immediately felt a rush of heat enveloping her, with her previously cool body starting to warm up!

By the time they took the elevator downstairs, sweat had already started appearing!

Mu Beiting carried Ye Anxin in the elevator directly to the underground parking lot, where the driver was already waiting in the car!

Once they got in, the car’s air conditioning was already on, and Ye Anxin immediately felt much more comfortable. Fortunately, the temperature inside wasn’t set too low, so she didn’t feel abruptly cold!

Once Mu Beiting and Ye Anxin were inside, the business car slowly started, heading towards the villa on the hillside!

Ye Anxin, sitting in the car, felt restless due to her concerns, wanting to find an opportunity to discuss the matter properly with Mu Beiting!

After all, the old man personally reached out; regardless of whether she could persuade him, Ye Anxin needed to give the old man a reply!

Seeing Ye Anxin’s constant restlessness, Mu Beiting gave her a hard stare, and domineeringly commanded, ”Sit still! Don’t move!”

Ye Anxin clung to Mu Beiting’s arm, craned her neck, and asked eagerly, ”Uncle, are you really not going to the old man’s birthday?”

Mu Beiting answered decisively and firmly, ”Not going!”

”Oh!” Seeing Mu Beiting’s unyielding attitude, Ye Anxin could only lower her head in disappointment and remain silent!

The two returned to the villa in silence. In the past, during car rides, Ye Anxin would chatter non-stop, although throughout, Mu Beiting might barely reply twice, but he always listened intently!

Hence, never had there been a time when Ye Anxin would stay silent all the way!

Mu Beiting looked at the silent and downcast Ye Anxin, furrowing his brows tightly!

Until they got out of the car, Mu Beiting opened the door for Ye Anxin, holding her hand as they returned to the villa, his brows showed no sign of relaxation!

Ye Anxin ate dinner absent-mindedly; like usual, she took a bath, walked around, then went to sleep!

However, throughout the night, Ye Anxin wore a burdened expression, her brows slightly furrowed even as she slept, showing no signs of relaxation!

Mu Beiting held Ye Anxin tightly in his arms, listening to the even breathing from within his embrace, slowly opened his eyes, and tilted his head to gaze at the sleeping girl in his arms, through the moonlight cast into the room!

Seeing her frown even in sleep, he couldn’t resist stretching out his hand to gently smooth her brows!

Seeing her finally relax her brow, a light seemed to flicker in Mu Beiting’s eyes as if something bright had flashed by!
