The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Pei Yu arrived at the Provincial City in the middle of the night.

At this time, the weather was especially cold, so Pei Yu booked a room near the airport to rest for a while.

When she got up early, she tidied up and dialed the number she had always remembered.

Wan Family in Provincial City

Ever since Wang Ming was injured and disabled, everyone in the Wan Family has been worried and gloomy.

Wang Ming was unwilling to stay at home, and the family was not at ease with him living alone elsewhere, so they simply bought a small villa close to the Wan Family for him to live in.

Wang Ming had difficulty moving around, so the family wanted to find a caretaker to look after his daily needs.

The choice of this caretaker needed to be very meticulous; someone with bad intentions wouldn’t do, someone who wasn’t agile wouldn’t do, someone who didn’t cook well wouldn’t do, and someone who wasn’t attentive wouldn’t do.

After searching high and low, Lady Wang recommended a rural young girl who had saved her before. Upon evaluation by the Wan Family, they found that this young girl was quite capable, cooked well, was caring and attentive, as well as kind and gentle. Thus, they kept the young girl to care for Wang Ming.

Of course, the Wan Family wouldn’t let her work for free; they offered her a high salary.

Besides the young girl, the Wan Family also hired a tall, strong, and honest young man to take care of Wang Ming.

After all, while the young girl could cook and clean, wash clothes, and help Wang Ming with changing, carrying him to and from the wheelchair, and pushing him outside might be inconvenient.

After Wang Ming moved out to live alone, he completely quieted down.

Unless necessary, he rarely went out, spending his days at home reading, hardly speaking at all. Only if someone from the family called multiple times would he go out for a walk.

The weather was cold these days, which made Wang Ming even less motivated to move.

He stayed in his room reading, hardly leaving except for meals or bathroom visits.

Treasure Bead was cooking in the kitchen. She had made porridge, steamed dumplings, and stir-fried two green vegetables. When the meal was ready, she went to knock on the door: ”Brother Wang, it’s mealtime.”

After a while, a voice came from the room: ”Just leave it there, I’ll eat later.”

”You must hurry up, or it’ll get cold.”

Treasure Bead urged again, but there was no further response from the room.

She was somewhat anxious.

She had been at the Wan Family for a long time and had taken care of Wang Ming for more than half a year, yet Wang Ming was like a block of ice that refused to thaw, no matter how long she tried. Wang Ming still appeared lifeless, hardly speaking to her except during meals.

This made Treasure Bead feel somewhat defeated. She doubted whether her initial considerations were correct, thinking that someone like Wang Ming might not be reachable at all, and she might end up spending years of hard work without any reward.

But she was unwilling to give up.

The Wan Family was genuinely wealthy. Just looking at the small villa where Wang Ming lived alone, one could tell. This place was in the near-central area of the Provincial City, surrounded by various well-equipped facilities, and the house prices were naturally high. This small villa alone was likely worth millions, not to mention the furnishings inside...

Every time Treasure Bead thought about it, her heart would race.

She saw Wang Ming as a money tree, where she wouldn’t let go.

She fantasized more than once about how wonderful it would be if Wang Ming liked her, she would marry him, and everything in the Wan Family would be hers. But in reality, she was hit by Wang Ming’s indifference.

Treasure Bead sighed at the door and helplessly went to the kitchen to eat breakfast.

Wang Ming sat in his wheelchair, and after waiting for a while, just as he thought about going out to eat, his big telephone on the table rang.

Wang Ming wheeled over to pick it up and took a look. Seeing that number finally brought a trace of emotion to his otherwise calm face.

He answered quickly: ”Xiao Yu.”

A burst of laughter came from the big telephone: ”It’s me, I’ve arrived in the Provincial City and just wanted to see you. Are you available now?”

Wang Ming also laughed: ”I’m available. Where are you? I’ll have someone pick you up.”

”No need, I’ll take a taxi to your place. Just give me the address. By the way, I’ve brought you something.”

Wang Ming gave his address and the call ended soon after.

After hanging up, Wang Ming smiled for a long time before coming back to himself, he immediately wheeled out, calling loudly as he approached the dining table: ”Brother Gang.”

”Coming.”

A tall and burly man walked in from outside, quickly asking, ”What’s up?”

Wang Ming pointed to the food on the table: ”Let’s eat first, and then help me wash up. Treasure Bead, check if there’s any messy area in the house and tidy up quickly.”

Treasure Bead poked her head out of the kitchen: ”Okay, got it.”

Wang Ming quickly finished his meal and then urged Gang: ”Hurry up.”

Gang ate quickly, finishing his meal soon after.

After his meal, he wheeled Wang Ming into the bathroom, transferring him to a chair specially made in the bathroom, placing the toiletries within his reach.

Once Gang left, the sound of water began to echo in the bathroom.

Wang Ming bathed swiftly too, and once he was done, he called Gang to wheel him out and help blow dry his hair, returning to the bedroom to change into specially stylish clothes.

His bedroom was untidy to the point of being unbearable, prompting him to direct Gang to help tidy it up.

Once everything was sorted, Gang was a bit curious: ”Is there a guest coming to the house?”

Wang Ming smiled faintly: ”Yes, a friend is coming.”

Treasure Bead was also curious: ”Must be a good friend, I can see your mood has improved.”

”Yes, a good friend.” Just thinking of Pei Yu, Wang Ming’s mood remained complex.

He had an indescribable feeling, both happy, and somewhat sad and worried.

Happy because after so long, he could meet Pei Yu again, sad because he was disabled and felt even less worthy of Pei Yu, and worried about how Pei Yu would react upon seeing him in this state.

He waited and waited, hoping and longing, until he finally received Pei Yu’s call again.

Pei Yu had already arrived outside the neighborhood.

Wang Ming couldn’t hold back anymore, asking Gang to take him out to meet her.

Despite the cold weather, Wang Ming’s health was poor, prompting Gang to advise against going out, but Wang Ming disregarded the advice, insisting on going himself.

Gang had no choice but to dress him in thick clothing, covering his legs with a blanket and wrapping a scarf around his neck before pushing him outside.

At the entrance to the neighborhood, Wang Ming saw Pei Yu at once.

In his memory, Pei Yu loved wearing red clothes; clothed in red, Pei Yu looked vivid and enchanting. Yet today, Pei Yu wore a long white down jacket.

The snow had just fallen here, with plenty of snow piled by the roadside. Wearing white, Pei Yu standing by the road seemed ready to merge with the snow, making Wang Ming’s heart tighten involuntarily.

”Xiao Yu.”

He called out, waving to Pei Yu.

Pei Yu looked over and ran towards them, pulling a suitcase.

Once she reached them, Pei Yu took several breaths: ”Your place is not easy to find.”

She glanced at Wang Ming, then at Gang, before pushing her suitcase towards Gang: ”Big guy, help me carry the luggage.”

After pushing the suitcase out, Pei Yu naturally went to push Wang Ming’s wheelchair: ”I’m frozen, let’s quickly get back home.”
