The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Pei Anyi stayed home for only a few days before heading to the Capital.

Pei Laoshi and Liu Dalian initially said they would take her, but Pei Anyi insisted otherwise. Moreover, Anjing’s child is still young, and Anjing can’t handle it alone. Anning is extremely busy, so she can’t help with the child, while An Xian has to manage the family’s food and drink, and she’s not even good at taking care of kids. Liu Dalian also doesn’t feel comfortable leaving the child, so they didn’t go.

They thought that since Anyi had been outside for a year, she must have seen all kinds of situations. Going to school was just a small matter for Anyi. After thinking about it, they decided not to go, and later said they would visit Anyi in the Capital when they had the time.

But nobody expected Pei Yu to return when Anyi was leaving.

Her return genuinely surprised the family.

Liu Dalian asked her: ”Why did you come back? Weren’t you very busy?”

Pei Yu laughed and said: ”I was performing at the Provincial City, and thought I hadn’t been home for a long time, so I came back for a while.”

She took a look around at home, found the newly built house quite nice, saw that Pei Laoshi and Liu Dalian didn’t worry about food and drink, and that the family’s business was getting bigger and bigger, so she felt reassured.

When no one was around, Pei Yu quietly told Anning that she had bought two plots of land, and one of them already had news about development. It was possible that developers would contact her soon to discuss pricing.

Anning suggested she ask for real estate instead of money, exchange the land for property and shops.

Pei Yu also mentioned that a subway station might be built near the other plot. Eventually, that area would turn into a commercial hub, and she planned to exchange the land for a shop there and a house here.

Anning thought it was a great idea and told Pei Yu to decide for herself.

When it was time for Anyi to leave, Pei Yu left along with her.

She told Pei Laoshi she was taking Anyi to school, so Pei Laoshi wouldn’t worry.

Xiao Yuan took some time to accompany Pei Yu and Anyi to the city to catch the train, and only returned after seeing them get on the train.

On the train, Anyi told Pei Yu: ”You really shouldn’t escort me to school. You’re a celebrity now, and your albums and tapes are selling like hotcakes; a lot of people know you. If you escort me, won’t people all gawk? I don’t want to be famous.”

Pei Yu hadn’t really planned to escort Anyi either: ”I’m not specifically here to see you off. I’m thinking of buying a house there; I don’t know why, but I feel like I’ll be staying in the Capital for a long time, and not having a house is inconvenient.”

”Isn’t your current contract with Dream City?”

Anyi was quite curious: ”Aren’t you staying at Dream City? What are you going to the Capital for?”

Pei Yu shook her head: ”Dream City won’t last long. Just singing isn’t a sustainable thing. I’m thinking of acting on TV and stuff; there are more opportunities in the Capital.”

Anyi frowned: ”I really don’t understand what you’re thinking.”

Then she remembered something: ”Big sis and second sis initially said they wanted Lao Si to help buy a house. Lao Si bought for them in the Provincial City, but never had the chance in the Capital. Before leaving, Lao Si gave me the money and documents, asking me to buy first. If you’re house-hunting, help them have a look, and if you find something suitable, buy it.”

”Alright.”

Pei Yu agreed with a nod, and she was clearly very tired, so she leaned back against the seat and took a nap.

Once they arrived in the Capital, they checked into a hotel, and Pei Yu went house-hunting, while Anyi wandered around the Capital and went to the National University entrance to take a look. On the day of school registration, she got up early to get ready.

Pei Yu opened her eyes and saw Anyi changing clothes.

Yesterday, when Anyi was exploring the Capital, she looked stunning with a bright red dress, hair styled in large waves, and a particularly glamorous makeup look, full of femme fatale vibes.

But today, Anyi was dressed much more plainly; compared to yesterday, she really looked a bit drab.

She straightened her hair again, let it hang loose, fixed one side with a plastic hair clip decorated with Bai Se beads, while the other side cascaded down. She wore a white shirt with a Peter Pan collar and jeans, tucked the shirt into the jeans, slipped on flat Bai Se shoes, and carried a blue canvas bag—looks weren’t exactly rustic, but indeed a bit too simplistic.

”What are you up to?”

Pei Yu turned over, faced Anyi, and asked.

Anyi smiled, ran her hand through her hair: ”Do I look good?”

”Yesterday’s look was good.”

Wearing a red silk nightgown, hair let down, Pei Yu lay lazily on her side showing an inexplicable allure: ”This is too plain, I don’t like it. Why don’t you wear yesterday’s outfit? Even if it was too mature, you brought a lot of clothes, so why insist on this one?”
