The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 1663: Chapter 1606: The Group Favorite’s Counterpart 36

“I’m not going back.”

Fan Zhili pushed Yang Baotian aside and began complaining to Liu Dalian.

“Auntie, you don’t know what’s been happening in our family. Ever since I joined the Yangs, I’ve had to accommodate her, Yang Baozhu, every day. Cooking, laundry, cleaning—it’s all on me. Even if I accept that Yang Baozhu doesn’t do anything, she should at least wash her own clothes. But no, even her clothes have to be washed by me. In the middle of winter, I even had to wash her bloody underwear. Tell me, isn’t that just bullying?”

Hearing this from the doorway, Yang Baozhu was almost mortified to death.

“Sister-in-law, what are you talking about? Are you doing this on purpose?”

Today, Fan Zhili was deliberately stirring things up. As soon as Yang Baozhu appeared, she became even more animated: “What’s the matter? Just because you did it doesn’t mean I can’t talk about it. I’m telling the truth. If there’s even a half-truth, may I have a son without an anus.”

“You, I’ll hit you.”

Yang Baozhu came running over with her fists raised.

Yang Baotian quickly stopped Yang Baozhu: “What are you doing? That’s your sister-in-law.”

Fan Zhili cleverly hid behind Liu Dalian and shouted at the top of her lungs, “I’ve been married into the Yang family for over two years and haven’t seen Yang Baozhu lift a finger. I, as the sister-in-law, just said a few words to her, and my mother-in-law scolded me, saying I don’t know how to tolerate my sister-in-law. When your family started planting the greenhouse, Yang Baozhu insisted on planting too. I was against it from the beginning, but all the money is with my parents-in-law. They said to plant, and I had no other option. But Anning planted a greenhouse after researching it, and she’s learned how to do it. Yang Baozhu, on the other hand, doesn’t know anything and dared to try. As expected, she planted those vegetables, threw all her savings into it, yet hasn’t seen any results. Isn’t this just waiting to make a loss?”

At this point, Fan Zhili started wailing loudly.

Anning quickly advised, “Sister-in-law, don’t cry. It’s not a big deal. Let’s consider it a learning experience this year, figure out what went wrong, and pay attention next year.”

Yang Baotian also advised, “Anning is right. Listen, don’t cry.”

Yang Baozhu glared at Fan Zhili, “So what if you lose money? It wasn’t your money that was lost. Why are you crying?”

Fan Zhili pointed at Yang Baozhu and said to Liu Dalian, “Auntie, did you hear that? That’s her attitude. At home, I said a word to her, and she was ready to hit me with a bench—a solid wood bench! If that had really hit me, I wouldn’t be dead but at least half crippled. This isn’t how you treat a sister-in-law; it’s how you treat an enemy.”

Anxian popped out at this moment.

She had listened in on much of what Fan Zhili had said earlier. Now she came over and loudly said, “Whenever anyone in the village talks about who’s lazier, they always point to me. I always thought I was lazy enough, but it turns out Yang Baozhu is even lazier. Even if I’m lazy, I still wash my own clothes. I didn’t have my mom or sister wash anything for me. But Yang Baozhu, oh my, this grown woman still has her sister-in-law washing her little clothes. No shame!”

“Get lost! This is none of your business.”

Yang Baozhu glared angrily at Pei Anxian.

Liu Dalian was furious: “How can you be so ungrateful? We came all the way in this cold to help you make peace with your sister-in-law, and you can’t even make a small concession. Not only do you not see your errors, but you also end up insulting everyone. I can’t deal with your family business anymore.”

Fuming, she pulled Anning and Anxian along: “Let’s go home. It’s freezing out here, what was I thinking?”

Anning turned back to advise Fan Zhili: “Sister-in-law, don’t be too upset. Baozhu isn’t entirely in the right, but for Baotian’s sake, just let this slide. She’s still young.”

“Young?” Fan Zhili got even angrier at these words: “She’s the same age as you, yet see how sensible you are. How come she’s so clueless?”

Compared to Anning, Yang Baozhu was so angry her eyes turned red: “Fan Zhili, I see you don’t want to live this life. Fine, let my brother divorce you.”

“Divorce, then. Who’s afraid of whom? Do you think your Yang family is some big prestigious household?”

Fan Zhili jumped up, cursing: “Yang Laoer, Sun Jinhua, what kind of creature have you given birth to? You just give birth but don’t teach! You’ve raised a daughter who’s lazy, greedy, and sly, doesn’t do any work, won’t allow criticism, stirs up trouble between brother and sister-in-law. What a morally bankrupt creation!”

“Enough, enough!”

Yang Baotian hurriedly tried to cover Fan Zhili’s mouth.

Filled with rage, Fan Zhili viciously bit Yang Baotian’s hand, making him yelp in pain.

Onlookers rushed over to separate them: “Stop fighting, let go quickly.”

Some even said to Yang Baozhu, “Look how angry you’ve made your sister-in-law. Hurry up and apologize to her.”

Yang Laoer and Sun Jinhua hid inside, afraid to come out.

Yang Laoer sighed heavily: “It’s shameful, so shameful.”

Sun Jinhua also felt embarrassed: “The eldest’s family, what are they trying to do? Do they really not want to live this life?”

Neighbors came over to mediate, but Fan Zhili refused to return. In the end, there was no other choice but to have Yang Baotian accompany her to the village committee to stay the night. The next morning, Fan Zhili packed her things and went back to her parents’ house.

Worried that something might happen to Fan Zhili on her way, Yang Baotian quickly followed along.

After Fan Zhili left, several people came over to visit the Yang family, their conversations indirectly criticizing Sun Jinhua.

“You know, your daughter will eventually marry off. It’s really not worth straining relations with your daughter-in-law over her.”

“If you ask me, your daughter Baozhu really needs some discipline. Didn’t you see her demeanor last night? It looked like she wanted to eat her sister-in-law alive.”

“A girl at home can’t shirk all her chores. At least cooking and laundry should be her responsibility. Not just her own, but she should be washing yours and Yang Laoer’s clothes too. My daughter washes everyone’s clothes at home, sweeps, feeds the pigs, cooks, does everything. Your Baozhu behaving like this won’t do.”

“Nobody’s that lazy. She’s even lazier than the Pei family’s eldest. How will she ever get married?”

“Exactly. Zhili may be your daughter-in-law, but she’s also the Fan family’s daughter. They pampered her too at home. Now she can’t be treated poorly at your place either. If your daughter gets married and has to wash bloody underwear for her sister-in-law at her in-laws, would you be happy?”

“It’s unacceptable. How can she behave like this, having her sister-in-law wash… it’s disgusting.”

Sun Jinhua’s face flushed red, then pale. She felt not just anger, but also a bit of fear.

From the looks of it, everyone in the village knew Fan Zhili washed Yang Baozhu’s small clothes. If this spread further, how could Baozhu speak to her future in-laws?

Even without it spreading to other villages, Baozhu’s carefully maintained reputation over the years was shattered.

Now, everyone was comparing her to Pei Anxian, saying Yang Baozhu was lazier than Pei Anxian.

The Yang household was in chaos.

The Pei family, however, was delighted.

Especially Pei Anxian. People used to criticize her laziness, but with someone lazier than her, Yang Baozhu, Pei Anxian’s reputation improved a bit.

When people talked, they would say, “The Pei family’s eldest isn’t that lazy. She can handle laundry and cooking. Pei Laoshi and his family plant vegetables in the fields, and the household chores are handled by their eldest. She even varies the meals every day. Besides, since she got married, has there been a day when Zhao Chuan wasn’t well taken care of? It shows she’s not lazy at all, can do everything but just prefers not to go out. It’s just rumors from whoever has the nerve to say she’s lazy.”
