Not Being a Trainer This Time

Trainers with all kinds of Pokemon were walking in groups on Royal Avenue, and besides them, there were many tourists and local residents here to watch the Royal Battle.

The sounds of humans and Pokemon intertwined continuously, showcasing a lively atmosphere everywhere.

”That large stadium in front must be the Royal Dome.” Naoki paused and marveled: ”It’s truly magnificent!”

The entrance doors of the Royal Dome were styled like a red and white Pokeball, automatically opening when people approached.

Passing through the doors, one officially entered the lobby, which was used for welcoming contestants and registering them.

The electronic screen in the lobby displayed banners and photos of star contestants; Naoki spotted the famous Royal Masked Man, who was Professor Kukui of the Alola Region.

At this moment, a female receptionist approached and kindly asked:

”Hello, sir, how may I assist you today?”

Naoki shifted his gaze from Professor Kukui’s photo and then said:

”Hello, I registered my information online for the Royal Battle and wanted to learn about the battle rules today.”

”I see!” The female receptionist invited, ”Please come this way, and I’ll explain it to you.”

”Thank you for your hard work!”

The two of them went to a lounge; after confirming Naoki’s identity on the computer, the receptionist smiled and said:

”Welcome, Mr. Naoki, I’m receptionist Vivian, and I’ll be introducing the Royal Battle rules to you.”

”Unlike battle facilities in other regions, the Royal Battle mainly operates on a points system. Every victory in a Royal Battle earns you points, and once you accumulate 10 points, you can advance to the next stage.”

”Currently, we have four stages: Normal, Super, Advanced, and Master Level, each requiring a different number of points.”

”In addition, our competition timing is not fixed. If you want to participate, you need to register in advance; we will arrange an opponent for you and notify you of the time and place of the match.”

”Since this is your first time participating, you must start from the Normal level.”

Naoki nodded, thinking this system was quite similar to the ranking and points system in boxing matches.

”So, here’s your ranking.”

Vivian sent a web link using her Rotom Phone.

Naoki clicked and logged in, then saw his current points and ranking.

[Player Code: Wing King

Level: Normal

Points: 0 (10 points needed to advance to the Super stage)

Ranking: 250]

Naoki: ”...”

Why does this ranking feel like it’s insulting me?

He carefully reviewed the rules and prizes and found that the rewards for the Royal Battle were quite generous.

Each time a contestant wins a match, they receive a certain amount of prize money. Initially, it’s just 2000 or 3000, but at the later Super stages, the prize increases to five figures.

If one reaches the Master Level, the prize money for a single match is hundreds of thousands, not to mention star contestants like the Royal Masked Man.

Seeing all those trailing zeros behind the numbers made Naoki click his tongue in amazement.

Truly, the mainstream in this world is still Pokemon battles!

The top position in the Master Level is the Royal Masked Man. Naoki noted that defeating him would earn the Proof of the Pilgrimage to the Islands as a reward.

With that proof, outsiders can participate in the local Island Pilgrimage, obtaining various opportunities and treasures, including but not limited to Z Crystals and Z Rings.

Sparkling eyes filled with excitement, Naoki immediately said to Vivian: ”Could you please sign me up? I want to participate in the match!”

”Certainly.” Vivian promptly operated on the computer.

After a while, she said, ”An opponent has been matched for you. Your first match will take place at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Battle Royal Dome. Please make sure to attend on time.”

At four in the afternoon, Naoki returned to the ranch.

He first went to the World Tree to bring Arboliva back to the ranch, then found Farfetch’d.

Upon learning that Naoki needed its help, Farfetch’d immediately shouldered its leek and struck a battle pose.

Naoki: ”...”

If Professor Oak saw Farfetch’d like this, he’d surely consider it a special form Farfetch’d.

”Alright, tomorrow we’ll be counting on your performance!”

”Lii～”

”Ma-ma～”

”Quack!”

The three Pokemon responded in unison, assuring it was no problem.

Pawmot, Dragonite, and Cyclizar watched enviously from the side.

They wanted to participate too...

”Don’t worry, maybe you’ll be needed later.” Naoki said.

After all, he wasn’t sure what level the opponents in the Master Level Royal Battles had reached.

If they’re all Champion Level, with Alcremie and the others’ current strength, they might not manage.

But there’s no use thinking too much about it now; he’ll take it one step at a time!

Kanto Region, Indigo Plateau.

As two distinct bird cries pierced the sky, at that moment, the Trainers training on the Road to the Champion all raised their heads to look at the sky.

The next second, they saw two figures, one yellow and one blue, soaring across the sky.

”Ah, those two Pokemon are...!” someone exclaimed in surprise.

Others recognized them by their appearance and features.

”Could they be the legendary Pokemon Zapdos and Articuno?”
