Not Being a Trainer This Time

Naoki: ”...”

Have to admit, seeing Professor Kukui like this is really a bit hard to get used to!

With the arrival of the online era, the Royal Dome has also set up its own official website, allowing Trainers to conveniently register as contestants directly on it.

The information needed for registration isn’t much; you just have to provide your real name, gender, age, and the alias you’ll use during the tournament.

”That’s pretty simple.”

Naoki quickly typed in his information, but when he got to the alias field, he stopped.

What should he call himself this time?

Motorcycle Mask? Dragon Envoy? Or maybe Wing King?

But all of those are a bit too on the nose...

Still, the Alola Region is a bit closed-off and behind the times; even if he calls himself Wing King, nobody’s going to connect that to Koraidon, right?

After all, Professor Sada hasn’t made Koraidon public yet.

In that case, it’s decided!

Wing King, Royal Wing King!

Next, it was time to decide which Pokemon to use in the tournament.

Koraidon, Dragonite, Pawmot, Gogoat, Ogerpon...

But every single one of these seemed a bit special.

If the audience snapped photos and uploaded them online, it felt like his real identity would be exposed in no time.

To avoid blowing his cover, Naoki didn’t plan on using any of the more well-known Pokemon he had on hand.

But if he did that, he’d barely have any fighting power left.

In that case, how about using those Pokemon from the World Tree?

Putting aside Mewtwo, Rayquaza and those other Legendary Pokemon, the World Tree also had Arboliva, Jirachi, Dragonite and other such Pokemon.

Arboliva usually kept a low profile, but Naoki knew very well that its strength had already reached a pretty terrifying level.

After all, it had always eaten the same dishes as the Gogoats—whether it was Grassy Seed, Leaf Cake, or World Tree Cake and the like.

Thinking of this, Naoki decided to ask Mewtwo to help him check with Arboliva.

He directly @’d Mewtwo in the Legendary Beast chat group.

[Wing King: @Mewtwo, Mewtwo, you there? I’ve got something I’d like to ask you to help with. Can you see what Arboliva is doing right now? I’ve got a little favor to ask of it.]

Mewtwo quickly replied.

[Mewtwo: Okay.]

While he waited, a few other Legendary Pokemon jumped into the conversation.

Naoki almost never asked anyone for help, so him suddenly speaking up like this made not only Giratina, but even Rayquaza and Ho-oh really curious.

Giratina directly asked.

[Giratina: What kind of help?]

[Wing King: Here’s the thing—I need a strong but not very common Pokemon to do a few battles, but it can’t be one from the ranch, and it can’t be one that’s always hanging around me, because that’d make it too easy to expose my real identity.]

But as soon as he said that, the Legendary Pokemon, led by Giratina, went wild.

Harboring a dream of becoming a mega internet celebrity and showing off its overwhelming strength before humans, Giratina instantly volunteered.

[Giratina: Let me do it!]

[Calyrex: ...I feel like I don’t quite fit the requirements?]

[Rayquaza: I could lend a hand.]

[Ho-oh: Indeed, the World Tree has granted us great favor. As thanks, it’s only proper that we step in to help. If all else fails, I can also dispatch my Ho-oh Guard to your side, Naoki, to lend you a hand.]

[Kyogre: I just finished teaching my disciple the Mysteries of the Sea. If there’s a need, you may call upon me.]

[Mewtwo: I can, too.]

Groudon didn’t say anything, because it was currently in a training battle with Kubfu.

Naoki: ”...”

He was just going to play in a Royal Battle! These guys showing up—were they planning to trigger a massive war in Alola and crown themselves kings over this still-allied-less, primitive region?
