The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1401: Chapter 1401: Fighting with Their Lives on the Line

Ji You stared at the monitor and pressed the firing tower switch.

A cry of shock erupted from below the stage!

”Shen Sheng, watch out!”

”Careful! She’s about to fire!”

”Dodge, quick!”

...

Ji You narrowed her eyes and, amid the countless cries, pulled the trigger!

Whoosh——

From the dark muzzle, a shell shot out!

Boom——

The shell exploded in the distance!

Missed!

The audience below all let out a breath of relief!

Thrilling!

Way too thrilling!

This was a real fight! Not a virtual battleground—every clash was fought with their lives on the line. Just then, someone suddenly said, ”Something’s wrong!”

”You’re only realizing something’s wrong now!”

”We’re in big trouble!”

”Those two aren’t wearing Protective Shields!”

”Huh? What did you say?”

”My god!”

”That’s gotta be a joke!”

The students below the stage all had their mouths hanging open, already forgetting how to even write the word ”shocked.”

Very quickly, some students started to observe carefully, and in no time they spotted the clue.

The two of them really weren’t wearing any protective gear. Whether it was Ji You or Shen Sheng, everyone checked them over several times, inch by inch, but couldn’t find any protective equipment on either of them. And if either one of them actually got hit by a shell, there was a huge chance it would be fatal!

This was simply——

If this fight hadn’t seemed so normal at the beginning—so normal that it didn’t even feel like a real brawl—by now it had fully stirred up every spectator’s emotions! No one was in the mood to holler anymore; all of them had gone pale with fright.

No one had expected the battle to be this spectacular and intense! It was insanely intense!

”How could this happen? They really aren’t wearing Protective Shields?” Someone still refused to believe it.

”It’s absolutely true! Neither of them is wearing one!” In the crowd, the boy who first stood up and shouted that something big was wrong after noticing the clue suddenly got to his feet and said, ”Just now I delivered some documents to Teacher Qi in the ring management office. I saw Shen Sheng and Ji You’s application forms with my own eyes—there was no application for protective measures on them! Seriously! Teacher Qi also said he didn’t provide any for them.”

”Oh my god!” Amid the gasps from below the stage, many students who had still been unwilling to believe it now had terror in their eyes.

”Why are they being so reckless?” Someone couldn’t hold it in anymore after hearing this and got anxious: ”For this kind of arena match, just treat it as a spar, right? Why push it to the point of fighting for their lives? There’s no need, right? Absolutely no need!”

”Ji You and Shen Sheng don’t have any deep blood feud or anything, do they?”

”If something happens, both schools will be losing their strongest, most promising students!”

No one could keep standing on the sidelines joking around anymore. Many people sat up straight, craned their necks, their faces scrunched up tight like chrysanthemums, wishing they could make this duel stop right now!

Some people immediately went to inform the teachers and even called ambulances over. And not just one—enough of them came to completely fill the open space around the ring. Everyone figured that if something really happened, they could carry out emergency treatment on the spot.

At the same time——

Shen Sheng dodged a fatal strike! She didn’t relax her guard at all. Gripping Tie Chui, she swung hard again!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The Mechanical Shell’s outer wall kept splitting, and the cracks gradually widened!

Rumble~

The smoke and dust from the shell that had exploded in the distance rolled and billowed outward in all directions.

”Cough!”

The choking fumes made Shen Sheng suddenly cough hard!

Even with the situation this critical, not a trace of panic showed on Shen Sheng’s face. Her originally fair, pretty face had been blackened in patches, making her look a bit silly.

Right now, Shen Sheng’s black-and-white eyes were sparkling, full of excitement and exhilaration. She even suddenly grinned toward the cockpit’s direction, flashing a row of white teeth.

”Ji You, you’re really strong,” Shen Sheng said.

Ji You said, ”So are you.”

Shen Sheng said, ”Only you have pushed me into such a desperate situation.” Her voice held no frustration or anger at all.

Shen Sheng continued, ”If you really can kill me, don’t hesitate.”

Her tone and expression were completely open and straightforward.

The next second, Shen Sheng said, ”But——if you die by my hand, don’t hold a grudge either.”

Hearing this, Ji You let out a low chuckle and said, ”Yeah. Whoever survives cleans up the corpse.”

Down below the stage.

Lou was clutching the armrest of his seat in a panic, rustle rustle...

A patch of paint on the armrest had been picked clean off by Lou without him even noticing. ”This is insane! Way too insane!!!”

Lou’s eyes were red with anxiety. ”How can they do this?”

Ji You of No. 4444 never acted proper; she always looked especially unreliable. Only now did Lou realize just how unreliable she really was!

Fighting without Protective Shields?

Isn’t that literally gambling with their lives?

Yue Qiguang stared at the two facing off on the ring, a hard-to-describe emotion flickering in his pitch-black eyes.

”Putting their lives on the line,” Yue Qiguang said quietly.

The atmosphere all around was extremely heavy. Lou turned his head and stared at the two little buddies beside him. ”What do we do? What do we do? What should we do? Do we tell Principal Hong and Teacher Mu right now?”

Yue Qiguang’s face was calm, his whole being seeming to have his mind completely tied to the battlefield.

He didn’t say a word.

Lou turned to the half-squinting Sheng Qingyan. ”Sheng Qingyan, say something!”

”A duel with a protective layer on... is just kids playing house,” Sheng Qingyan’s languid voice was low. After he finished, he fully lifted his eyelids and said, ”I’ve already notified Dr. Luo and Principal Hong.”

His tone had turned uncharacteristically serious. But Lou didn’t notice at all. Hearing that the teachers had been notified, he relaxed a little. Still, he kept his face scrunched up and said sternly, ”Don’t tell me you two want to try this too?”

Yue Qiguang stayed silent.

Sheng Qingyan also said nothing.

Lou said angrily, ”Don’t go crazy together with No. 4444!”

Sheng Qingyan and Yue Qiguang didn’t answer right away; faint, dismissive smiles appeared on their handsome faces.

Yue Qiguang said, ”What’s there to be afraid of? Daddy’s not that easy to kill.”

Lou was speechless, choking on his words. ”I’m too lazy to bother with you.”

Then everyone stared unblinkingly at Ji You and Shen Sheng on the ring. Shen Sheng had already smashed open the Mechanical Shell, but Ji You hadn’t been idle either, creating countless obstacles for Shen Sheng.

Shen Sheng had been in danger again and again.

Ji You wasn’t having an easy time either.

Shen Sheng was giving her a lot of trouble.

Silence.

Still silence.

The surroundings fell into a deathly quiet.

The Mecha couldn’t shake Shen Sheng off; Shen Sheng was like a flea hiding on the body of a mammoth—infuriating, yet impossible to pluck off in one go!

Just then, Ji You controlled the Mecha to roll on the spot.

If Shen Sheng didn’t dodge, with a body that massive, once the Mecha came crashing down, she’d probably be flattened into a pancake.

Shen Sheng grabbed the rope and leaped hard, dodging the crushing weight.

At that moment, another rope suddenly snapped out from inside the Mecha and directly snared Shen Sheng in midair!
