The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1416: Chapter 1416: Stirring Up the Snake

Everyone hoped Yue Qiyuan’s speculation was just wild imagination. If it was just wild imagination, at least Commander Wei Xiaoxiong wouldn’t harbor malice towards them.

When Yue Qiyuan motioned for everyone to follow him, a few hesitated momentarily, but still joined him.

They quietly left the valley, staying cautious along the way, leaving no traces behind.

As they walked, someone noticed a problem. ”Squad Leader, wait, aren’t we heading away from the border river?”

Yue Qiyuan said softly, ”Who said we’re going to the border river?”

The teammate who spoke was stunned and asked, ”Aren’t we crossing the border river to sneak into the enemy camp?” The task given by the Commander was to gather intelligence from the enemy camp.

Staying within their own territory wouldn’t yield any intel.

Yue Qiyuan squinted, looking ahead. The border river’s flow was extremely rapid, difficult to cross, and could easily sweep someone away.

There was a moment of silence.

Then, Yue Qiyuan said, ”We’re going to the enemy camp, but we’ll go from here.”

After speaking, he pointed with his hand.

Everyone followed his direction and was shocked.

Heading there?

The water there was so swift, and both riverbanks were dangerous, with steep peaks. Any mistake could be fatal.

The terrain map was primitive, and the participants had no modern protective technologies, relying solely on their physical strength to cross these risky areas.

Yue Qiyuan wasn’t a domineering leader. Hence, he patiently explained his thoughts and decisions to the team, then said, ”In short, I’ll be the first to cross. Follow my sequence instructions. Don’t worry, once I cross safely, I will get all of you across too.”

After listening, no one voiced any objections.

Next.

Yue Qiyuan wound a climbing rope around himself, the rope was from the stock of the 2nd Squad’s military base under his command. He had stealthily taken it along when meeting Commander Wei Xiaoxiong, and now it was coming in handy.

The next moment.

Yue Qiyuan quietly dove into the water, everyone watched tensely from the shadows. They realized his speed was remarkably fast, moving swiftly through the rushing water like a nimble fish, covering great distance in moments.

Soon, Yue Qiyuan’s figure vanished from their sight. Everyone was startled, then glanced at the rope, seeing it still shaking, clearly Yue Qiyuan was pulling at the other end.

The next moment.

Yue Qiyuan reappeared within everyone’s field of vision, they then realized he had successfully swum to the opposite bank.

On the opposite bank, Yue Qiyuan discreetly signaled that everything was alright.

The second to cross was a male designated by Yue Qiyuan. Under everyone’s watch, he took a deep breath and plunged into the water.

Initially, the male moved smoothly, but a torrent came, almost sweeping him away. Luckily, Yue Qiyuan and the waiting teammates swiftly steadied the rope. The male regained his rhythm and, mimicking Yue Qiyuan’s technique, quickly swam to the opposite side.

With a second successful example, the third person, a female, attempted. Her movements were even more agile than the male’s, traversing smoothly, adding another success to the list, making subsequent crossings simpler.

Next.

Fourth, fifth, sixth...

Soon, all the recon members brought by Yue Qiyuan crossed to the opposite side. They had thoroughly cleaned up before leaving, leaving virtually no trace.

Yue Qiyuan led the team further into stealth mode because the opposite side was Chu Jiaojiao’s territory. According to Yue Qiyuan’s speculation, Chu Jiaojiao should also be a Squad Leader, but with her nature, she couldn’t possibly remain subordinate, so she must have quickly seized the Commander position.

Indeed, events unfolded as Yue Qiyuan had predicted.

Yue Qiyuan understood there was little time for contemplation or preparation. He needed to rescue Liang Youqing and others before Chu Jiaojiao fully took control.

That’s right.

His goal was to rescue Liang Youqing and then establish a defensive alliance with him.

Why did Wei Xiaoxiong send Yue Qiyuan and Liang Youqing, the Squad Leaders, out? Because they were expendable, not on Wei Xiaoxiong’s promotion list.

But why?

Because he had smelly farts?

Because he spoke with bad breath?

Because he urinated frequently and yellow?

Ha—

Yue Qiyuan coldly snorted, explaining his plan to the team in detail. Hearing it, they immediately understood.

Wei Xiaoxiong wanted to borrow a knife to kill; coincidentally, Yue Qiyuan planned the same.

According to Wei Xiaoxiong’s plan, once Liang Youqing, Yue Qiyuan, and others were ambushed by enemy forces and mostly killed, his men would appear as saviors. Survivors would naturally feel grateful, strengthening Wei Xiaoxiong’s leadership.

Yue Qiyuan’s plan wasn’t complex; he intended to be that savior himself.

The plan was simple, but conditions complicated. Following several treacherous scenarios, they finally located the target. Indeed, Wei Xiaoxiong’s men aimed to be the fisherman, lurking in the bushes surrounded by rocks and slopes, obscuring visibility and making discovery difficult.

Nearby, enemy troops patrolled.

After some thought, Yue Qiyuan surmised that these people must have sneaked in post patrol. He gestured, and a team member immediately stepped out to create a disturbance.

The next moment.

The enemy troops discovered Wei Xiaoxiong’s men. There were actually quite a few, roughly numbering dozens, whereas the patrol had only four, clearly at a disadvantage, immediately opting to flee.

However, Wei Xiaoxiong’s men wouldn’t let them escape. A battle erupted swiftly.

The enemy troops didn’t manage to escape, but they weren’t inept either. They managed to fire a signal pre-elimination, signaling their comrades to track them soon.

Wei Xiaoxiong’s personnel didn’t constitute many, only twenty. Everyone realized the plan had a major flaw, requiring a swift retreat before enemy reinforcements arrived.

Hence, Wei Xiaoxiong’s twenty men withdrew quickly. However, the skirmish had garnered the attention of the enemy force’s Squad Leader, who took charge without a word, leading four squads to pursue rapidly.

Yue Qiyuan led his own team; they had already quietly exited when the decision to stir hadn’t been made, finding another place to stealthily hide.
