The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1437: Chapter 1437: Piloting Alone

Dr. Luo was piloting the spaceship while still dancing to the music, but the spaceship she was piloting was incredibly stable and smooth. Sitting inside, you couldn’t feel the slightest bit of turbulence.

In summary, deploying the soundproofing equipment makes the music, otherwise a brain-drilling noise, unnoticeable to passengers.

Then.

Ji You was so exhausted that she fell asleep unknowingly. When she woke up, she found that the others hadn’t come out of the rest room yet, so she went into the cockpit braving the thunderous music.

Dr. Luo saw Ji You come in and smiled, ”Did you sleep for such a short time?”

”Huh?” Ji You asked, ”Did I really sleep for a short time?” She felt like she had slept for a long while, and upon raising her head to look at the antique wall clock hanging in the cockpit, she realized only three hours had passed.

Dr. Luo said, ”You should sleep a bit longer.”

Seemingly knowing Ji You’s purpose, Dr. Luo handed her the Space Button, saying, ”Heavenly Dog is still asleep, and it will probably wake in around 8 hours.”

In order for Ji You to compete with peace of mind, Heavenly Dog was forcibly shut down.

Ji You took the Space Button, checked it carefully, and found nothing amiss, then said, ”I’m quite alert now. Dr. Luo, is there anything I can do?”

Dr. Luo thought for a moment and said, ”Help me watch the monitor.”

This task was very important and wasn’t just mechanically watching the screen. It required anticipating issues and giving warnings.

Ji You nodded seriously and said, ”Don’t worry, I will make sure to do well.”

Dr. Luo wasn’t concerned; rather, she even enabled co-pilot permissions for Ji You, so if anything abnormal occurred, Ji You could take control of the spaceship.

With Ji You monitoring things, Dr. Luo simply acted relaxed. She wasn’t idle though; instead, she turned up the booming music even louder and started dancing right in the cockpit.

”...” Ji You was speechless.

Amid the noisy clamor, Dr. Luo’s dance moves weren’t graceful; on the contrary, they seemed somewhat comical—nodding, twisting, stomping, and shrugging her shoulders...

The movements repeated in endless cycles, always sticking to the same four actions.

Ji You glanced briefly, then refocused entirely back on the monitor. The spaceship traveled along a fixed route, and without any unexpected situations, the pilot didn’t need continuous operations.

After leaving Nami Star, the spaceship rushed forward. Surrounding them was an endless darkness, as if abyssal. The ship had a navigation chart, so light wasn’t needed for sight. Yet staring too long at such scenes could subtly loosen your attention, leading to danger.

Ji You dared not relax; she focused entirely on monitoring, immune to the impact of Dr. Luo’s comical dance moves or the noisy music.

Under Ji You’s control, the spaceship cruised steadily at an even pace.

Dr. Luo’s movement inadvertently paused, watching Ji You with a hint of commendation in her eyes: [This child is always serious and also very reliable in whatever she does.]

At this moment, a streak of light flashed past!

A fragment from a wandering planet in the endless cosmos! This fragment and its trajectory happened to be directly towards their spaceship, rapidly hurtling toward them. Mishandling could result in total disaster.

Dr. Luo furrowed her brows slightly but didn’t move nor warn Ji You, merely observing her silently.

Ji You had already noticed it, yet her expression didn’t change at all. Her actions were still calm, and as the asteroid fragment raced closer, she swiftly adjusted the course to perfectly evade it.

Dr. Luo was full of satisfaction.

The next second!

A fragment larger than the previous one came at a swifter speed, charging violently towards the ship. Just as it seemed about to collide, the spaceship gave a light shudder, then accelerated sharply, dodging the fragment and quickly returning to its original trajectory.

Dr. Luo raised an eyebrow.

This child really knows what she’s doing.

With that, Dr. Luo completely relaxed.

Then.

Dr. Luo simply moved out a sofa, sank into it, and closed her eyes for some rest.

In the vast, boundless darkness of space, it seemed that only the spaceship carrying Ji You was moving. The spaceship was tranquil; everyone seemed asleep, and even the annoying dancing music had ceased after Dr. Luo fell asleep. Ji You stared fiercely at the navigation chart, attentively serious.

The feeling of everyone’s safety resting solely in her own hands weighed heavily, making Ji You dare not waver; she remained focused and attentive.

Then.

The spaceship successfully charged through a Jump Point.

Though man-made, most Jump Points rely on natural wormholes for construction. Each passage through a Jump Point imposes a significant burden on the human body, so aside from the pilot, other passengers are advised to stay in the rest room and enter deep sleep mode.

The powerful pressure distorted Ji You’s face slightly as she gritted her teeth tightly. Despite the spaceship’s blinding speed, the journey remained exceptionally smooth.

At last.

Exiting the Jump Point.

Ji You’s suspended heart, settled, and she raised a hand to wipe away the sweat on her forehead. At this moment, a pair of hands suddenly appeared before her, leaving Ji You taken aback as she lifted her head to meet Principal Hong’s eyes.

”Principal?”

When did he arrive?

How did I not notice?

Ji You was profoundly surprised, knowing her Spiritual Silk was exceptionally acute, detecting any slight movement around her, and preemptively alerting Ji You—like Dr. Luo’s covert watch filled with commendation and satisfaction prompted by her six mischievous Spiritual Silk, constantly murmuring around Ji You to exploit Dr. Luo’s good mood for some gain.

Would Ji You easily yield to any temptation?

Ahem...

For money, she would.

The teachers of Lanyue Star Military Academy were notorious misers; Ji You feared not getting anything and instead, having Dr. Luo whip out a stack of contracts, so she held her ground.

Now seeing Principal Hong, Ji You couldn’t hide her surprise, ”Principal, when did you appear?”

Principal Hong replied, ”Before you crossed the Jump Point.”

Ji You: ”!!!”

All this time?

She truly hadn’t detected anything.

Principal Hong observed the navigation chart and said, ”After the next Jump Point, there’s an artificial Space Station for us to settle.”

Before the words could land, suddenly numerous bright flashes appeared in the sky! Instantly, countless shimmering lights resembling clusters of stars or pairs of eyes were visible.

Principal Hong’s face changed immediately; he seized control of the ship’s piloting as the spaceship accelerated explosively in that moment!
