The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1448: Chapter 1448: Rescue

The image appearing on the monitor comes from Black Soil Mountain. The surface of Black Soil Mountain is covered with scorched earth and rubble. Apart from these, there’s almost no vegetation, with numerous abandoned mine pits visible amidst the continuous mountain range. Each mine entrance is extremely narrow and deep.

But these aren’t important; what’s crucial is the group of mutant black bears near the mine holes.

A group.

Their skin is dark, almost indistinguishable from the scorched soil layer of Black Soil Mountain; at a glance, they seem to merge into one with Black Soil Mountain, making it difficult to tell just how many black bears there are.

A Ke is very anxious.

He fidgeted restlessly, clutching his fingers in unconscious tension. It was only when his eyes settled on the short, composed sister sitting firmly that he felt somewhat reassured.

”Confirmed, there are 22 bears.” Ji You said in a low voice. Her words made Chu Jiaojiao, Yue Qiguang, Yue Qiyuan, and Sheng Qingyan all keep their faces solemn.

Ji You’s voice was calm as she continued, ”Mostly level 1-2, just one level 4 that requires special attention.”

Chu Jiaojiao, upon hearing this, relaxed and said, ”That’s good.”

Yue Qiyuan grimly questioned, ”Why are there so many black bears?”

Sheng Qingyan asked, ”A Ke, did your planet originally have this kind of star beast known as black bears?”

A Ke was momentarily stunned, mainly because he didn’t expect the very pretty, strikingly attractive elder sister to actually be a brother. His voice was quite pleasant, but his speech felt odd.

Thoughts flashed by, and A Ke earnestly responded, ”I heard before about people getting eaten by black bears, but that’s rare. My years of gathering and scavenging in the wild with Granny have never encountered them.”

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”So, there were black bears before, but they were uncommon.”

Yue Qiyuan thought for a moment and said, ”Black bears are large carnivorous star beasts that like to claim territory. The ecology on the garbage planet is poor, and food is simply insufficient for this group to prosper extensively. It’s very strange.”

Ji You squinted her eyes, ”Indeed, strange.”

Yue Qiguang furrowed his brow, asking a critical question, ”Are there people nearby?”

”Yes.” Ji You replied.

Upon hearing this, everyone furrowed their brows again. Especially A Ke next to Ji You, his fair and clear face, directly forming a Sichuan character.

The atmosphere inside the spaceship was silent.

Ji You controlled the spaceship to launch probes around, ensuring not to disturb this group of black bears.

Everyone waited silently.

A few seconds later, Ji You whispered, ”Based on thermal responses, it is estimated that there are 15 people here, divided into 2 groups, hiding in 2 of the deepest mine holes.”

Ji You carefully manipulated the probe head and withdrew, then raised her hand and said, ”Yue Qiyuan, send a temporary communication request. Let’s see if we can connect.”

”Mm.” Yue Qiyuan replied quietly, ”Request sent.”

Beep!

Beep!

Beep!

...

The communication request initiated, a series of beeps continually sounded, awaiting the other side to connect.

Although garbage planet 381 has been entirely abandoned, it is still under the Star Network coverage. In principle, people inside the mine holes should be able to receive signals.

The communication rang for a while but did not connect.

Ji You said, ”Consider the possibility of the trapped group being collectively unconscious! Change the first rescue strategy, adopt the second strategy.”

As soon as she finished speaking, A Ke hurriedly said, ”Sister! This mine hole was abandoned 100 years ago, and the original air circulation system inside has long been scrapped! They’re in danger!”

This kind of mine hole generally extends very deep, and the deeper you go, the thinner the air becomes, possibly even containing various harmful gases.

Rescue must be conducted promptly.

A Ke anxiously stared at the monitor.

Ji You raised her hand and calmly said, ”Don’t worry, we’ll rescue them immediately.”

Upon hearing this, A Ke felt his confidence inexplicably strengthen.

Given that it involves the lives of more than a dozen people, Ji You, for safety, contacted Dr. Luo, explained the situation, and requested aid.

Dr. Luo, upon hearing, swiftly replied, ”Go with confidence.”

Ji You felt reassured.

Thereafter, Ji You looked at Chu Jiaojiao and Yue Qiguang, saying, ”Jiaojiao, Yue Qiguang, distract these black bears for at least 5 minutes. Can you do it?”

Chu Jiaojiao loudly replied, ”Rest assured.”

”5 minutes?” Yue Qiguang raised an eyebrow, ”Underestimating me?”

Ji You waved her hand, ”Go!”

The situation was urgent; every second delayed meant more danger to the people inside the mine. Ji You’s second plan was straightforward: send Chu Jiaojiao and Yue Qiguang to lure away the Star Beast Group, then have Sheng Qingyan and Yue Qiyuan enter for rescue.

Moreover, considering the trapped group’s condition, Dr. Luo would provide assistance.

Yue Qiguang and Chu Jiaojiao geared up, grabbed their weapons, and jumped from the spaceship.

Soon, the figures of the two turned into a dot, disappearing into the sky.

Ji You maneuvered the spaceship, seizing the opportunity to move closer to the ground.

The group of black bears gathered around the two mine holes, suddenly agitated by the appearance of Chu Jiaojiao and Yue Qiguang, immediately shifted direction and charged towards them.

Yue Qiguang glanced at Chu Jiaojiao and smirked, ”Leave the level 4 one to me, don’t compete with me.”

After saying this, Yue Qiguang kicked a stone by his foot, sending it flying and hitting the largest level 4 black bear.

The level 4 black bear instantly became furious and charged towards Yue Qiguang.

Yue Qiguang turned and ran.

Chu Jiaojiao: ”...”

A group of black bears also gradually surrounded Chu Jiaojiao. She stood still, shouting at the running Yue Qiguang, ”Yue Qiguang, idiot, let’s see who can attract more monsters!”

After saying this, Chu Jiaojiao kicked again, causing countless stones to splash, shooting in all directions.

Instantly, several black bears pursuing Yue Qiguang paused and quickly changed direction.

Chu Jiaojiao took off running.

Gathered at the mine entrance, the black bear group suddenly dispersed, yet Yue Qiguang and Chu Jiaojiao’s situation wasn’t as fortunate; a string of black bears followed behind them, especially Chu Jiaojiao, with 17 bears chasing her!

However, Yue Qiguang’s side wasn’t ideal either; the level 4 black bear was firmly behind him, with several close calls.

A Ke was exceedingly tense: ”Sister, will they be okay?”

Ji You replied, ”No problem.”

A Ke: ”!!!”

Is this not a problem?

But hearing his sister’s tone of calm and composure, A Ke chose to trust his sister’s judgment!

Ji You kept her eyes on the monitor, calculating the timing and opportunity, saying, ”Spicy Eye, Little Yuanyuan, prepare.”

Little Yuanyuan?

Yue Qiyuan’s eyelids twitched, ”Can’t you speak normally?”

Sheng Qingyan: ”Spicy Eye doesn’t sound good either, oh.”

Ji You rolled her eyes, ”Why focus on such trivial details, oh?”

When the black bear group on the monitor had run a certain distance, Ji You raised her hand, ”Jump!”

Without blinking, Yue Qiyuan and Sheng Qingyan jumped directly off the ramp.

Upon landing, they happened to be at the mine entrance.
