Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 140: Chapter 139: A Man with a Strong Sense of Control

”President Lin, I’d like to take a business trip tomorrow to Xiangjiang to finalize the island purchase. I’ve already contacted the brokerage firm there, and they said they’re ready for us whenever.”

In the car, three women sat in the back row. Lin Xiwan was on the right, looking out the window with a cold, aloof air. Liang Jieyu sat in the middle, looking timid. Gu Jiayan was on the left, calm and composed. It was she who had suddenly spoken.

The atmosphere in the back row was still a little awkward.

Each was lost in her own thoughts, not speaking to the others.

However, Lin Chu, sitting in the front passenger seat, naturally didn’t sense any of it.

Hearing her, Lin Chu replied casually, ”Alright, go ahead. Wait, no. What the hell? We’re the clients, and we have to go to them? Tell them to come here to talk! Are we paying them a service fee for nothing?”

Gu Jiayan was taken aback for a moment, but she quickly recovered and nodded. ”Okay. I understand.”

’Damn...’

’So aggressive.’

”Why are you so timid? Remember who you are. When you’re out there, you’re representing me.”

Lin Chu reprimanded her coolly.

”Okay, I understand.”

She nodded lightly again. Despite being scolded, she casually glanced at the two women to her right and felt a strange, subtle thrill.

’I get to represent him.’

The corners of her mouth turned up slightly. She forced herself not to smile, turning her head to look out the left window to distract herself.

It was a slightly wicked thought—’a person has to have their own value, not just be a pretty face.’

But then another thought occurred to her. ’Heh, am I actually feeling superior about being a workhorse?’

”President Lin, where are we headed first?”

Gao Haitao asked at the right moment as they drove out of customs.

Lin Chu: ”Take me back to the office first, then drop them off.”

Gao Haitao acknowledged the order and said no more, driving steadily on.

...

When they arrived at the underground garage of Zhuoyue Center, Lin Chu got out directly and headed for the elevators. Gu Jiayan opened her door and hurried to catch up. After a moment’s hesitation, Liang Jieyu also quickly got out and followed.

Lin Xiwan glanced at them, her expression flickering. She couldn’t be bothered to join in. ”Master Gao, please just take me.”

She still had her pride, after all.

Gao Haitao: ”Of course, Ms. Lin. Just tell me where to.”

”To the gym, please. It’s nearby.”

So the Mercedes drove out of the garage again. Lin Xiwan thought for a moment, then smiled casually, trying to fish for information. ”President Lin has been very busy with work, hasn’t he?”

Gao Haitao instantly understood what she was doing. He refused politely but firmly, ”I can’t answer those kinds of questions. I’m just a driver, so please don’t put me in a difficult position.”

’Woman, what are you thinking?’

’President Lin can remember something as trivial as a ’banana vendor.’ He’s that meticulous and cautious. And you think you can manage him?’

Lin Xiwan: ”...”

’This driver is really something else!’

Sometimes, she really had to admire Lin Chu. He handled everything around him with such perfect order; his level of control was astonishing.

That, too, was quite attractive.

Who could possibly manage a man with that kind of control?

The smartest choice was to follow him and make some more money. It was clear that Lin Chu was never stingy with people who were obedient and sensible.

...

When Lin Chu arrived at the office, his eyes swept across the room.

There were, naturally, two young women at the reception desk, both very attractive. They recognized Lin Chu and stood up, greeting him with beaming smiles as he walked in.

”Mm, sit down.”

Waving a hand, Lin Chu maintained his cold and aloof demeanor as he strode inside, with Gu Jiayan and Liang Jieyu trailing behind him.

The two receptionists watched his back, exchanged a glance, and secretly pursed their lips.

’So cold.’

’Such a powerful presence.’

Entering the main work area, Lin Chu saw that it was already half-full.

The company’s development had gotten on track recently. People were being interviewed and hired every day with great efficiency.

Lin Chu had been reviewing the reports daily. They now had 39 contracted streamers, and apart from two women, the rest were all men.

Zhang Peng had even joked that they might as well call it Yanggang Media.

Presumably, he did it for balance, as the receptionists, operations staff, editors, and stream assistants were almost all young women.

Lin Chu’s beauty radar activated. After a quick scan, it detected one target, but for now, he only gave her a passing glance before walking swiftly on.

His legs were long and his strides large, so he walked quickly.

Gu Jiayan practically had to jog to keep up with her boss’s pace.

Liang Jieyu took in the scene before her—the company in a luxury office building in the heart of the city, the busy employees, the swiftly striding Lin Chu—and couldn’t help but feel ripples of emotion in her heart.

That intense feeling of a business elite hit her full-force.

In that moment, Lin Chu had almost seamlessly switched from island vacation mode to domineering CEO mode.

”Take her to my office.”

Lin Chu instructed Gu Jiayan.

He then walked to Zhang Peng’s office and knocked.

Pushing the door open, Lin Chu was slightly surprised to see Hou Chengjin there, sitting with Zhang Peng, drinking tea and discussing matters.

”Hey, Brother Chu, you’re back! Why didn’t you say anything? I would’ve gone to pick you up.”

Zhang Peng quickly stood up, his face wreathed in smiles.

Hou Chengjin also rose to his feet and greeted him with a smile, ”Hello, President Lin.”

”Sit.”

Lin Chu passed a cigarette to each of them, a faint smile finally appearing on his tense face. ”What are you two talking about?”

Zhang Peng explained with a smile, ”I invited President Hou over to talk about live streaming. I’m asking for his expertise. We’re also looking into short-form dramas and getting a feel for the market.”

Lin Chu grunted in acknowledgment. ”Fine, you two continue. Have you gotten the secret recipe for Buddha Jumps Over the Wall?”

Hearing this, Hou Chengjin was a bit speechless. ’What a foodie,’ he thought. ’Doesn’t ask about business, just this.’ He sighed softly. ”I’m still working on him. The old man is stubborn and takes these things very seriously. He won’t pass on his skills lightly. He wants me to find him an apprentice and even wants to test their aptitude! I’m trying to figure something out.”

Lin Chu nodded. ”Speed it up. The offer still stands: once I have the recipe, the investment funds will be transferred immediately. You two carry on. I’m going back to my office.”

Having said his piece briskly, he turned and went back to his own office.

He had originally intended to chat with Zhang Peng for a while, but since Hou Chengjin was there, it wasn’t appropriate to discuss company matters.

Hou Chengjin: ”...”

’That was truly swift and decisive. He acts like every second of his time is precious and refuses to waste a single one.’

He could clearly feel that Lin Chu’s aura seemed even stronger than before.

’What has he been up to?’

’Either his horizons have broadened, or his business empire has expanded again.’

’Damn... I’m so envious.’

...

Back in the office, Gu Jiayan had lit a stick of incense and was boiling water. Liang Jieyu sat on the sofa, her legs pressed neatly together, surveying everything like someone at a job interview.

”Don’t worry about all that. You can get off work. Go home and get some rest.”

”You have two tasks for now: the cochlear implants for the welfare home, and buying the island.”

Lin Chu instructed Gu Jiayan.

She nodded lightly. ”Okay.”

Then she turned and left.

After she left, Lin Chu brewed a pot of tea and poured two cups.

Liang Jieyu took the hint and rose, moving from the sofa to sit opposite him at the tea table. She lightly tapped her knuckles on the tabletop, a gesture of thanks for the tea.

Lin Chu stared into her eyes, unsmiling, and asked point-blank, ”Alright, tell me. What do you want?”

She: ”...”

She froze for a second.

The sudden question caught her completely off guard. She stammered, ”I... I can be a streamer, too.”

”No.”

Lin Chu shook his head. ”The company is business. I won’t mess with the culture.”

Huh?

She was stunned.

’Am I... going to get nothing out of this?’

’That can’t be right, can it?’

Lin Chu didn’t continue to make things difficult for her. ”Go pick out an apartment, anything under ten million. I’ll pay for it, and you can live there. Pick out a car, anything under a million, and you can drive it. Fifty thousand a month for living expenses. Is that enough?”

Liang Jieyu gasped.

’What woman could resist such a temptation?’

Of course, she understood the fine print in what Lin Chu said—the apartment was for her to live in, the car for her to drive, but the titles wouldn’t be in her name.

Still, what more could she ask for?

If she stuck with a tycoon like him long enough, she’d eventually get everything she was supposed to.

”I... Okay.”

Lin Chu waved a hand, finally cracking a smile. ”Go on, then. Be sensible, don’t cause any trouble for me. You know what I mean.”

Seeing Lin Chu smile, she let out a long sigh, as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders. A radiant smile spread across her face. ”I know. I’m yours, body and soul.”
