Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 111: Chapter 110: A Female Streamer Comes to Deliver a Watch

Gu Jiayan was the one most shocked by the scene unfolding before her. It felt like her entire worldview had been turned upside down.

She could still somewhat understand the Filipina maid from dinner at Kowloon Platform. After all, the maid hadn’t received a formal education and had most likely never even been to school.

But now, at this very moment, the male streamer before her was kowtowing directly to Lin Chu, leaving her utterly dumbfounded.

A classic line from Shakespeare involuntarily surfaced in her mind—’Gold, yellow, glittering, precious gold! Just a little of this can make black white, ugly beautiful, wrong right, base noble, old young, and a coward into a hero.’

’Can people really be like this?’

’Or, to put it another way, does money really have that kind of magic?’

She even started to wonder if this streamer was facing some kind of hardship at home, like a sick family member who urgently needed money.

The thought made her feel much better.

If that were the case, she could accept it completely.

’The sacrifice of one’s self-esteem and dignity must, and can only, be for another, nobler sentiment—not for one’s own desire for money and fame.’

Musing on these things, she fell silent.

She gazed pensively at Lin Chu.

’Sigh...’

’I’m here contemplating things every single day, all kinds of self-reflection, and it’s all prompted by President Lin’s way of life.’

’President Lin’s life is so dramatic, so full of tension. I really want to make a documentary about him; it would definitely be a huge hit.’

’Hmm?’

’A huge hit?’

The phrase popped into her mind almost instinctively. Gu Jiayan froze, a sudden chill sending goosebumps erupting all over her skin.

...

Zhang Peng, on the other hand, thought the streamer was excellent. He hadn’t chosen the wrong person. The man kowtowed the second he was told—his obedience was maxed out.

’Making money is nothing to be ashamed of,’ he thought.

A streamer is just a performer. As the old saying goes, if you’re going to sell your craft, you can’t be shy. People who feel too much shame can’t hack it in this line of work.

Back when he was at the livestreaming company, they had a finely honed, step-by-step process for training new hires, designed to strip away their sense of shame.

Now, though, it seemed that step could be skipped.

A streamer like Dai Pingchuan, who was willing to go all out, was a natural for creating wild content.

He saw the potential—if they pushed enough traffic his way, maybe, just maybe, Dai could actually blow up.

...

His phone suddenly buzzed with a voice call. Glancing at the screen, and seeing how many people were in the room, Lin Chu stood up and walked toward his bedroom.

’The performance is Dai Pingchuan’s business, whether it’s on the stream or in front of me.’

’And gifting the money is my business.’

’It’s as simple as that.’

Lin Chu didn’t plan to ”reward” him, nor did he plan to distance himself. He would just do whatever he was going to do anyway.

’How you treat me is your business. How I treat you is mine.’

’You can’t guilt-trip me, not even by kneeling and kowtowing.’

Watching Lin Chu go back to his room, everyone exchanged glances, none of them knowing what he was thinking.

Zhang Peng scanned the room, thought for a moment, and said, ”Alright, everyone, let’s wrap it up. It’s getting late, and President Lin needs to rest. This isn’t the office, after all.”

”Jiajia, He Meng, your employee apartment is ready. You can move right in—it’s fully stocked with all the necessities. You two can head over now.”

”Xiaojun, Liang Mo, you two walk with them. You don’t live far, so it’s on the way.”

”And you, you’re President Lin’s golf caddie, right? Go sleep in that room. It’s empty, you can make do for the night.”

”I’ll keep an eye on the stream for a bit longer, let him capitalize on this surge in popularity.”

”Alright everyone, let’s all head home.”

Zhang Peng handled the arrangements adeptly.

In front of outsiders, especially employees and assistants, he was always extra careful about protecting Lin Chu’s image.

After all, it wouldn’t look good for the caddie to go into President Lin’s room in front of other staff, especially the female employees.

Naturally, no one objected. They exchanged a few polite words and went their separate ways.

...

The call was from Fang Weidong. He said his father wanted to invite Lin Chu to dinner tomorrow night to discuss the land deal.

Lin Chu agreed on the spot.

He was quite invested in this matter, so he gave Fang Weidong a mental thumbs-up.

After they finished talking, he hung up. Lin Chu started filling the bathtub, planning to take a bubble bath.

’Too much happened today,’ he thought. ’Time to properly unwind.’

”President Lin, this watch is too valuable. I’d better send it back to you.”

”Miaomiao is heading back to the company to stream right now. If you send me an address, I’ll have her drop it off at your place.”

His phone lit up again with a message from Hou Chengjin. Lin Chu glanced at it, and an idea sparked in his mind.

’Heh.’

’Playing games, are we?’

He had seen this Miaomiao at dinner. She was an absolute knockout and had maintained a cutesy, high-pitched voice through the entire meal, chirping like a songbird.

’Sending her to deliver the watch... isn’t that just serving her up on a silver platter?’

Just then, a small red dot appeared on his contacts list.

”President Lin, Brother Lin, my boss ordered me to deliver the watch to you. It’s a direct order, I have no choice! Please, please accept my friend request.”

The profile picture was Miaomiao herself, projecting a cool, mature vibe in black nylons and high heels—a stark contrast to her voice.

’So this is Hou Chengjin’s style... putting his employees in a tough spot to win over friends and clients.’

’He’s even more of a pro when it comes to running ”obedience tests” on his streamers.’

’As for him not accepting the watch and wanting to send it back...’

Lin Chu could only laugh.

’It seems the watch was just too valuable. If he accepted it, it would put him in a subservient position, shattering his prestige. The only reason to accept would be if he were just greedy, planning to take the gift and run, with no intention of associating with me in the future.’

’Of course, I wouldn’t lose out in that scenario. It would just be a gift, and I’d get the rebate anyway.’

’With the rebate system, I can’t lose no matter what.’

’My move tonight—casually handing over the watch—wasn’t an ”obedience test,” but another, extremely common type of test: a ”material interest test.”’

’You see a person’s true colors when faced with personal gain. Their long-term character, their short-term attitude—it all becomes crystal clear.’

’But he and I aren’t superior and subordinate; we’re peers.’

’So Hou Chengjin returned the volley with a test of his own: a honey trap.’

’Makes sense.’

Lin Chu figured Hou Chengjin probably even suspected that getting such an expensive gift on their first meeting meant he might be gay.

’Throwing a honey trap at me would clear that question right up.’

’It’s a real chess match, move for move.’

An image of two little cartoon characters dueling with lightsabers popped into Lin Chu’s head, and he couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

’By now, I’m a veteran when it comes to the war with women. As they say, he who is without desire is strong.’

’But the war with men is still a work in progress.’

’It’s all about grinding monsters to level up and gain EXP!’

’Every step up is a whole new world.’

’The view is different from every new level.’

’For example, back when I was just partying and fooling around in nightclubs, all I could do was pay for companionship. I could get it, sure, but I definitely wouldn’t have a nearly A-list female streamer showing up at my door late at night to ”deliver a watch.”’

...

Having calculated all this, Lin Chu accepted her friend request.

She quickly sent a message: ”Hi, President Lin! Boss! I just left Kowloon Platform. Could you send me your location so I can come find you?”

Lin Chu replied, ”Come on over.”

He sent her the hotel’s location.

Tonight was going to be interesting.
