Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 117: Chapter 116: A Small Goal of 400 Million

After briefly touching upon the ”blind date,” they had already finished a bottle of wine.

The result: Yang Huixian had rejected him, and he had rejected her.

The girl had been resistant to the blind date from the start. Just showing up was a huge gesture of respect toward her father. Her rejecting him was perfectly normal.

Lin Chu had actually been quite resistant at first, too. But now that they’d finished talking, he found himself getting strangely excited.

’I like to ride a fiery horse.’

’Always have.’

The excitement he felt now was like that of an old hunter stumbling upon a fierce beast in the jungle. He really wanted to provoke her a little.

’But I’ll have to be very careful about my approach.’

Glancing at Yang Guangrong, Lin Chu spoke at an opportune moment. ”Uncle Yang, about the land. Let’s get into the details. Is it something we need to find, or do you have a plot ready?”

This was the main business of the evening, and they hadn’t even touched on it yet.

Yang Guangrong smiled and began to explain in detail. ”There used to be a factory in the village, but it went bankrupt in the last couple of years, and the owner skipped town with the money. The village has since repossessed the land. It’s about seventeen mu, and the title is clean. If you want to build a nursing home, it’s definitely not a problem. I even looked into it specifically. Current policy encourages developing new models by repurposing existing factory buildings for elderly care services. If you’re serious, we can be flexible on the price.”

He only gave a general overview and didn’t mention a specific price.

After all, business is business.

First, you confirm your interest, then you visit the site. If you think it’s suitable and there are no problems, only then do we discuss the price.

That would come later.

”You’re going to open a nursing home?”

Overhearing their conversation, Yang Huixian casually chimed in, looking at Lin Chu.

Lin Chu nodded nonchalantly. ”Mhm, it’s an idea I’m considering.”

”Oh, great! That’s a wonderful idea. Decorate it nicely and save a luxury suite for my dad. When he gets old, I’ll send him right over. Dad, what do you think? Am I a dutiful daughter or what?”

she said with a cheeky grin.

She even raised her glass, as if to toast Lin Chu.

Yang Guangrong’s breathing grew shallow again. He took several deep breaths and snapped, ”Fine! The day you get married and settle down is the day I’ll happily go to the cemetery!”

He was absolutely fuming. This daughter of his... she was so ”dutiful” it was killing him!

Seeing he was genuinely angry, she quickly reached out to pat her father’s back, comforting him in a mock-sincere tone. ”Oh, Dad, calm down, calm down. I was just teasing you. You know what they say, a little laughter takes ten years off your age.”

Yang Guangrong didn’t smile, but Lin Chu burst out laughing.

’What a display of uproarious filial piety.’

After a moment, Lin Chu formally agreed. ”Alright, I’ll go take a look in about half a month. I have a business trip coming up. I’ll make an appointment with you when I get back.”

Yang Guangrong: ”No problem.”

Although the conversation was going well, and he had the connection through Dongzi, Lin Chu still wasn’t sure if this was some kind of setup.

This wasn’t like buying a personal home, where everything is straightforward after the title transfer.

A deal like this involved many procedures and steps; he had to plan it out carefully.

The best course of action would be to have Lawyer Xiong secretly investigate while he was abroad to make sure there were no hidden pitfalls.

The property market was in a downturn, so land wasn’t a scarce commodity. He wasn’t worried about someone else snatching it up.

...

After some more small talk about this and that, the meal was more or less over.

”Dad, should I arrange for an after-party?”

Yang Huixian asked with a smirk, her tone mocking.

Yang Guangrong shot her a look, waved his hand dismissively, and left the table. He sat down on the sofa, lit a cigarette, and began puffing away in silence.

He no longer had the energy or the desire to say another word.

This was a perfect example of non-violent non-cooperation.

His daughter’s performance... it truly left him speechless.

She was being so proactive, so enthusiastic, but to what end?

She was acting like a hooligan. What man would possibly like that?

”What about you, President Lin? Dongzi? Want to go for round two? Come on, I’ll take you clubbing.”

Yang Huixian continued to tease the two men.

Fang Weidong quickly waved his hands. ”I-I never go to places like that, you know that, Sis. They’re so seedy. You should go less often, too.”

Yang Huixian gave him a knowing smirk. ”Never been? Come on, hand over your phone. Let me see your spending history.”

Fang Weidong flinched, instinctively glancing toward his dad. Thankfully, his dad had gone to the restroom.

He quickly pressed his hands together in a pleading gesture to Yang Huixian. ’Please, Sis, don’t say it! I’m dead if my dad hears!’

Yang Huixian smiled triumphantly and decided to let him off the hook.

Then, her gaze turned aggressively toward Lin Chu. ”President Lin?”

Lin Chu also waved his hand. ”No, thanks. I never go to places like that.”

She rolled her eyes, giving them a look that screamed, ’You’re all a bunch of losers.’ Then she stood up and called toward the sofa, ”Dad, you heard them! I was being very proactive, but they don’t want to go. Nothing I can do. I’m heading out now.”

Yang Guangrong gave a weak, dismissive wave.

He was so choked with anger he didn’t even want to speak to her.

”Okay then.”

”Bye, everyone.”

She snatched her bag, pushed the door open, and strode out with confident, elegant steps, leaving after a job well done without a care for fame or recognition.

Watching her leave, Lin Chu couldn’t help but shake his head and smile.

The situation was this:

—Everyone could see she was putting on an act.

—She also knew that everyone knew she was acting, but she wasn’t the least bit embarrassed and saw the performance through to the end. As the saying goes, if you refuse to feel awkward, the awkwardness is on everyone else.

’Have to admit, she’s a pretty interesting girl.’

A moment after she left, there was a sudden knock, and she was back.

Fang Weidong went to open the door again.

”Oh, right. Let’s exchange contact info, President Lin. If you ever need to buy Gold or jewelry, look me up. Of course, if you get that nursing home built, I could be a customer, too. We’ll have a mutually beneficial relationship.”

”And who knows, if my dad starts nagging me too much, I might need to hire you as an actor to help me placate him.”

She said all this right in front of Yang Guangrong.

Lin Chu... laughed out loud again.

”Alright.”

He took out his phone and added her contact.

”Okay, leaving for real now. Bye again.”

She left again.

After she was gone for good, Yang Guangrong, still on the sofa, glanced over and let out a long sigh. ”Huixian is a good kid, really. Sigh... she just takes life too seriously, tries too hard. I’m sorry, Xiaolin. I hope all this trouble didn’t scare you off.”

Lin Chu lit a cigarette and replied, ”Not at all. It’s clear she’s angry with you about something, isn’t she?”

’Coming back like that showed a mature, savvy side to her,’ he thought. ’She’s not just a pure troublemaker.’

Yang Guangrong didn’t answer, just stared blankly out the window.

Lin Chu decided not to press him and changed the subject. ”Uncle Yang, about that land... how many hundred million are we talking about? Just give me a ballpark figure so I can work out my finances.”

The exact amount would require a detailed discussion, of course, but he wanted to get a general idea first.

Yang Guangrong said quietly, ”A little over three hundred million. It won’t exceed 350 million. But you’ll also have to budget for subsequent construction, renovation, and maintenance.”

”Okay, I understand.”

Lin Chu now had a clear picture.

’The land itself is over three hundred million... let’s round it up to four hundred million to be safe,’ he thought. ’I’m still way short. I don’t even have half that amount in capital.’

’Tsk, four hundred million.’

’Nope, not gonna cut it. Looks like I’ll have to send some more perks to the boys.’
